Abstract:•A flow pattern map for the immiscible mixture of oil–water on vertical wall was determined.•The water phaseflowsoverthe oil film, improving the oil film flow velocity, increasing the oil–water interface shear stress and changing the oil film thickness.•The spreadability of mixture liquid film on the wall is mainly influenced by the oil phase, while the fluidity is influenced by the water phase.
