Abstract:Wearable pressure sensors for healthcare monitoring are expected to take into account the balance between sensitivity and detection range through precise regulation of microstructure and performance. Herein, we integrated the micro-patterned structure and hierarchical fiber network into a wearable piezoresistive pressure sensor to achieve balance. For enhancing the sensitivity in the low-pressure range, the polyvinyl alcohol/polyethyleneimine/glycerol/carbon black (PPGC) film was micro-protrusion structured by the template method. For improving the sensitivity in the high-pressure range, a hierarchical fiber network layer of PPGC @ Carbon nanotubes @ Carbon fiber (PPGC@CNTs@CF) was fabricated via electrophoretic deposition and a dip-coating method. Results show that the designed wearable sensor exhibits a high sensitivity of 93.97 kPa -1 , a broad sensing range of 0-470 kPa, and a fast response time of 32 ms. The wearable sensor can be successfully used for human motion detection and physiological signal monitoring. It is assumed that the increased contact points or conductive paths provided the sensor with high compressibility and low modulus of elasticity, resulting in exceptional sensing performance. Besides, a 5x5 pixel wearable sensor array can accurately recognize the spatial distribution of pressure.
