Abstract:The carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) is widely used in the reinforcement and retrofitting of reinforced concrete (RC) structures with the externally bonded reinforcement (EBR) technology. However, the premature debonding failure of the FRP may hinder the utilization of high tensile property of FRP though EBR improves the bearing capacity of the structure to some extent. In order to overcome this shortcoming, an end anchoring method was designed to improve the strength of the CFRP-concrete interface. 22 double lap specimens were tested to study the bond behavior under end anchorage, which can be imposed different torques to control the degree of anchorage. The digital image correlation (DIC) method was used to measure the full-field displacement of CFRP-concrete interface, obtaining the interfacial strain distribution and bond-slip responses of CFRP. The experimental results showed the ultimate bond strength of the CFRP-concrete interface with end anchorage is provided by adhesive and end anchorage. The ultimate strength model was therefore proposed, which has a good agreement with experimental data.
