Abstract:In this article, we give a quasi-final classification of quasiconformal Anosov flows. We deduce a very interesting differentable rigidity result for the orbit foliations of hyperbolic manifold of dimension at least three.

Abstract:We prove that a transitive uniformly $u$-quasiconformal Anosov diffeomorphism with a two-dimensional unstable distribution has a globally defined stable holonomy. As a corollary, we are able to remove an additional assumption in a theorem of Kalinin-Sadovskaya, and deduce that all transitive uniformly quasiconformal Anosov diffeomorphisms are $C^{\infty}$-conjugate to affine Anosov diffeomorphisms on infra-torus.

Abstract:In [Orbit equivalences of pseudo-Anosov flows, <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2211.10505" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2211.10505">arXiv:2211.10505</a>], it was proved that transitive pseudo-Anosov flows on any closed 3-manifold are determined up to orbit equivalence by the set of free homotopy classes represented by periodic orbits, provided their orbit space does not contain a feature called a "tree of scalloped regions." In this article we describe what happens in these exceptional cases: we show what topological features in the manifold correspond to trees of scalloped regions, completely classify the flows which do have the same free homotopy data, and construct explicit examples of flows with the same free homotopy data that are not orbit equivalent.

Abstract:Let $M$ be a closed 3-manifold admitting a finite cover of index n along the fibers over the unit tangent bundle of a closed surface. We prove that if n is odd, there is only one Anosov flow on M up to orbital equivalence, and if n is even, there are two orbital equivalence classes of Anosov flows on M.

Abstract:The purpose of this paper is to prove that, for every $n\in \mathbb N$, there exists a closed hyperbolic $3$-manifold $M$ which carries at least $n$ non-$\mathbb R$-covered Anosov flows, that are pairwise non-orbitally equivalent. Due to a recent result by Fenley, such Anosov flows are quasi-geodesic. Hence, we get the existence of hyperbolic $3$-manifolds carrying many pairwise non-orbitally equivalent quasi-geodesic Anosov flows. Based on the orbit space theory of Anosov flows developed by Fenley and Barbot, we completely studied the connected components of edge-adjacent lozenges, say, clusters in the orbit spaces of the Anosov flows in construction. The number of the lozenges of a cluster and a type of orientations on the clusters together are used as dynamical invariants to prove that the flows we construct are not orbitally equivalent. We believe that those dynamical invariants could be used in a much wider context.

Abstract:Let $M_k$ ($k\in \mathbb Z$ and $|k|>4$) be the $3$-manifold obtained by doing $k$ Dehn surgery on the figure-eight knot, and $X_t$ be the canonical Anosov flow on $M_k$ that is constructed by Goodman. The main result of this article is that if $|k|\gg 0$, then $Mod (M_k) \cong \mathbb {Z}_2 \oplus \mathbb {Z}_2$ and every element of the mapping class group of $M_k$ can be represented by a self orbit equivalence of $X_t$.

Abstract:We prove that in dimension 3, Anosov flows which are $\mathbb{R}$-covered and skewed are orbit equivalent to Reeb-Anosov flows. We characterize the existence of an invariant contact form or of a Birkhoff section with a given boundary, in terms of linking numbers between two invariant signed measures. Furthermore, we prove the existence of open book decompositions with one boundary component for Reeb-Anosov flows.

Abstract:We apply the matching functions technique in the setting of contact Anosov flows which satisfy a bunching assumption. This allows us to generalize the 3-dimensional rigidity result of Feldman-Ornstein~\cite{FO}. Namely, we show that if two such Anosov flows are $C^0$ conjugate then they are $C^{r}$, conjugate for some $r\in[1,2)$ or even $C^\infty$ conjugate under some additional assumptions. This, for example, applies to $1/4$-pinched geodesic flows on compact Riemannian manifolds of negative sectional curvature. We can also use our result to recover Hamendstädt's marked length spectrum rigidity result for real hyperbolic manifolds.

Abstract:Let $X_1^t$ and $X_2^t$ be volume preserving Anosov flows on a 3-dimensional manifold $M$. We prove that if $X_1^t$ and $X_2^t$ are $C^0$ conjugate then the conjugacy is, in fact, smooth, unless $M$ is a mapping torus of an Anosov automorphism of $\mathbb T^2$ and both flows are constant roof suspension flows. We deduce several applications. Among them is a new result on rigidity of Anosov diffeorphisms on $\mathbb T^2$ and a new "weighted" marked length spectrum rigidity result for surfaces of negative curvature.

Abstract:Quasigeodesic behavior of flow lines is a very useful property in the study of Anosov flows. Not every Anosov flow in dimension three is quasigeodesic. In fact up to orbit equivalence, the only previously known examples of quasigeodesic Anosov flows were suspension flows. In this article, we prove that a new class of examples are quasigeodesic. These are the first examples of quasigeodesic Anosov flows on three manifolds that are neither Seifert, nor solvable, nor hyperbolic. In general, it is very hard to show that a given flow in quasigeodesic, and in this article we provide a new method to prove that an Anosov flow is quasigeodesic.
Semi-conjugacy rigidity for endomorphisms derived from Anosov on the 2-torus

Abstract:Let $f$ be a non-invertible partially hyperbolic endomorphism on $\mathbb{T}^2$ which is derived from a non-expanding Anosov endomorphism. Differing from the case of diffeomorphisms derived from Anosov automorphisms, there is no a priori semi-conjugacy between $f$ and its linearization on $\mathbb{T}^2$. We show that $f$ is semi-conjugate to its linearization if and only if $f$ admits the partially hyperbolic splitting with two $Df$-invariant subbundles. Moreover, if we assume that $f$ has the unstable subbundle, then the semi-conjugacy is exactly a topological conjugacy, and the center Lyapunov exponents of periodic points of $f$ coincide and equal to the stable Lyapunov exponent of its linearization. In particular, $f$ is an Anosov endomorphism and the conjugacy is smooth along the stable foliation. For the case that $f$ has the stable subbundle, there is still some rigidity on its stable Lyapunov exponents. However, we also give examples which admit the partially hyperbolic splitting with the center subbundle but the semi-conjugacy is indeed non-injective. Finally, We present some applications for the conservative case. In particular, we show that if $f$ is volume-preserving and semi-conjugate to its linear part, then the semi-conjugacy is actually a smooth conjugacy.

Abstract:We apply the technique of matching functions in the setting of contact Anosov flows satisfying a bunching assumption. Abstract:Let $M$ be a smooth closed orientable surface. A Gaussian thermostat on $M$ can be seen as the geodesic flow of a certain metric connection with torsion. These flows may not preserve any smooth volume form. We prove that if two Gaussian thermostats on $M$ with negative thermostat curvature are related by a smooth orbit equivalence isotopic to the identity, then the two background metrics are conformally equivalent via a smooth diffeomorphism of $M$ isotopic to the identity. We also give a relationship between the thermostat forms themselves. Finally, we prove the same result for Anosov magnetic flows.

Global stability of discretized Anosov flows

Abstract:The goal of this article is to establish several general properties of a somewhat large class of partially hyperbolic diffeomorphisms called \emph{discretized Anosov flows}. A general definition for these systems is presented and is proven to be equivalent with the definition introduced in [BFFP19], as well as with the notion of flow type partially hyperbolic diffeomorphisms introduced in [BFT20]. The set of discretized Anosov flows is shown to be $C^1$ open and closed inside the set of partially hyperbolic diffeomorphisms. Every discretized Anosov flow is proven to be dynamically coherent and plaque expansive. Unique integrability of the center bundle is shown to happen for whole connected components, notably the ones containing the time 1 map of an Anosov flow. For general connected components, a result on uniqueness of invariant foliation is obtained. Similar results are seen to happen for partially hyperbolic systems admitting a uniformly compact center foliation extending the studies initiated in [BB16].

Almost-quasifibrations and fundamental groups of orbit configuration spaces

Abstract:In this article we introduce the notion of a k-almost-quasifibration and give many examples. We also show that a large class of these examples are not quasifibrations. As a consequence, supporting the Asphericity conjecture of [19], we deduce that the fundamental group of the orbit configuration space of an effective and properly discontinuous action of a discrete group, on an aspherical 2-manifold with isolated fixed points is torsion free. Furthermore, if the 2-manifold has at least one puncture then it is poly-free, and hence has an iterated semi-direct product of free groups structure, which generalizes a result of Xicotencatl ([27], Theorem 6.3).

Classification of NMS-flows with unique twisted saddle orbit on orientable 4-manifolds

Abstract:Topological equivalence of Morse-Smale flows without fixed points (NMS-flows) under assumptions of different generalities was studied in a number of papers. In some cases when the number of periodic orbits is small, it is possible to give exhaustive classification, namely to provide the list of all manifolds that admit flows of considered class, find complete invariant for topological equivalence and introduce each equivalence class with some representative flow. This work continues the series of such articles. We consider the class of NMS-flows with unique saddle orbit, under the assumption that it is twisted, on closed orientable 4-manifolds and prove that the only 4-manifold admitting the considered flows is the manifold $\mathbb S^3\times\mathbb S^1$. Also, it is established that such flows are split into exactly eight equivalence classes and construction of a representative for each equivalence class is provided.

Horizontal Goodman surgery and almost equivalence of pseudo-Anosov flows

Abstract:We provide an exposition of a `horizontal' generalization of Goodman's surgery operation on (pseudo-)Anosov flows. This operation is performed by cutting along a specific kind of annulus that is transverse to the flow and regluing with a Dehn twist of the appropriate sign. We then show that performing horizontal Goodman surgery on a transitive pseudo-Anosov flow yields an almost equivalent flow, i.e. the original flow and the surgered flow are orbit equivalent after drilling out a finite collection of closed orbits. We obtain some almost equivalence results by applying this theorem on examples of the surgery operation. Along the way, we also show a structural stability result for pseudo-Anosov flows.

Abstract:We found a dichotomy involving rigidity and measure of maximal entropy of a -special Anosov endomorphism of the 2-torus. Considering the measure of maximal entropy of a -special Anosov endomorphism of the 2-torus, either satisfies the Pesin formula (in this case we get smooth conjugacy with the linearization) or there is a set Z , such that but Z intersects every unstable leaf on a set of zero measure of the leaf. Also, we can characterize the absolute continuity of the intermediate foliation for a class of volume-preserving special Anosov endomorphisms of .

Abstract:This paper deals with classifying the dynamics of {\it Topologically Anosov} plane homeomorphisms. We prove that a Topologically Anosov homeomorphism $f:\mathbb{R}^2 \to \mathbb{R}^2$ is conjugate to a homothety if it is the time one map of a flow. We also obtain results for the cases when the nonwandering set of $f$ reduces to a fixed point, or if there exists an open, connected, simply connected proper subset $U$ such that $U \subset \mathrm{Int}(\overline {f(U)})$, and such that $ \cup_{n\geq 0} f^n (U)= \mathbb{R}^2$. In the general case, we prove a structure theorem for the $\alpha$-limits of orbits with empty $\omega$-limit (or the $\omega$-limits of orbits with empty $\alpha$-limit), and we show that any basin of attraction (or repulsion) must be unbounded.

Abstract:We provide sufficient conditions for smooth conjugacy between two Anosov endomorphisms on the 2-torus. From that, we also explore how the regularity of the stable and unstable foliations implies smooth conjugacy inside a class of endomorphisms including, for instance, the ones with constant Jacobian. As a consequence, we have in this class a characterization of smooth conjugacy between special Anosov endomorphisms and their linearizations.
