Abstract:Objective To explore the effects of Snyder’s hope theory on the hope and self-perceived burden of postoperative bladder cancer patients. Methods Ninety-two postoperative bladder cancer patients were selected from a tertiary hospital in Hunan Province from May, 2020 to March, 2021.They were divided into the intervention group(46 cases) and the control group(46 cases). The control group received routine nursing care, and the intervention group received nursing interventions based on the Snyder’s hope theory besides the routine care. The Herth Hope Index(HHI) and Self-Perceived Burden Scale(SPBS) were adopted to evaluate the patients in the two groups before and after the intervention. Results Six cases dropped out of the study and the valid cases in the control and intervention groups were 44 and 42.The HHI score of the intervention group after the intervention was significantly higher than that before the intervention, while the SPBS score was significantly lower. The HHI and SPBS scores of the intervention group after the intervention were statistically different from those of the control group(both P<0.05).Conclusions The nursing interventions based on the Snyder’s hope theory can effectively improve the hope of postoperative bladder cancer patients, and reduce their self-perceived burden, which is worthy of clinical promotion.
