Abstract:When analytic quasi-periodic cocycles are defined on a high dimension torus, their Lyapunov exponents have perturbative positivity and continuity. In this article, we study a class of analytic quasi-periodic Jacobi cocycles defined on a two dimension torus. We show that in the non-perturbative large coupling regimes, the Lyapunov exponent is positive for any frequency and weak Holder continuous for the full-measured frequency.

Abstract:A theory of Poincaré series is developed for Lobachevsky space of arbitrary dimension. For a general non-uniform lattice a Selberg-Kloosterman zeta function is introduced. It has meromorphic continuation to the plane with poles at the corresponding automorphic spectrum. When the lattice is a unit group of a rational quadratic form, the Selberg-Kloosterman zeta function is computed explicitly in terms of exponential sums. In this way a non-trivial Ramanujan-like bound analogous to “Selberg’s 3/16 bound” is proved in general.

Abstract:In this paper, we first prove the strong Birkhoff Ergodic Theorem for subharmonic functions with the irrational shift on the Torus. Then, we apply it to the analytic quasi-periodic Jacobi cocycles and show that for suitable frequency and coupling number, if the Lyapunov exponent of these cocycles is positive at one point, then it is positive on an interval centered at this point and Hölder continuous in \begin{document}$ E $\end{document} on this interval. What's more, if the coupling number of the potential is large, then the Lyapunov exponent is always positive for all irrational frequencies and Hölder continuous in \begin{document}$ E $\end{document} for all finite Liouville frequencies. For the Schrödinger cocycles, a special case of the Jacobi ones, its Lyapunov exponent is also Hölder continuous in the frequency and the lengths of the intervals where the Hölder condition of the Lyapunov exponent holds only depend on the coupling number.

Abstract:The Kohmoto-Kadanoff-Tang renormalisation-group method is extended to deal with the electronic properties of a class of one-dimensional quasiperiodic lattices. A unified trace map is obtained and it is shown that the energy spectra of the quasiperiodic lattices are Cantor-like, that is the spectra are self-similar and the energy gaps in the spectra are densely populated.

Abstract:We investigate the periodically modulated two-level systems with balanced gain and loss by means of a multiple-scale asymptotic analysis. The pseudo-parity–time symmetry (2013 Phys. Rev. Lett. 110 243902), which is often neglected in exact numerical simulations and totally lost in the commonly used high-frequency averaging approximation, has been fully understood in the framework of the second-order perturbative theory. Our work indicates that the multiple-scale asymptotic expansion method can be used to predict precisely some subtle and important dynamical behaviors in periodically driven systems.

Abstract:The goal of this paper is to provide a methodology to prove existence of (fiberwise hyperbolic) real-analytic invariant tori in real-analytic quasi-periodic skew-product dynamical systems that present nearly-invariant tori of the same characteristics. The methodology is based on the application of a Newton-Kantorovich theorem whose hypotheses are tested using Fourier analysis methods for a numerical approximation of the parameterization of an invariant torus.

Abstract:We study the ratio $p=\eta_1/\eta_2$ of the pseudo-periods of the Weierstrass $\zeta$-function in dependence of the ratio $\tau=\omega_1/\omega_2$ of the generators of the underlying rank-2 lattice. We will give an explicit geometric description of the map $\tau\mapsto p(\tau)$. As a consequence, we obtain an explanation of a theorem by Heins who showed that $p$ attains every value in the Riemann sphere infinitely often. Our main result is implicit in the classical literature, but it seems not to be very well known. Essentially, this is an expository paper. We hope that it is easily accessible and may serve as an introduction to these classical themes.

Similar P-regularity of the Peierls barriers associated with L (x, v) - (P, v) is also obtained.

Abstract:We consider the existence of invariant curves of real analytic reversible mappings which are quasi-periodic in the angle variables. By the normal form theorem, we prove that under some assumptions, the original mapping is changed into its linear part via an analytic convergent transformation, so that invariants curves are obtained. In the iterative process, by solving the modified homological equations, we ensure that the transformed mapping is still reversible. As an application, we investigate the invariant curves of a class of nonlinear resonant oscillators, with the Birkhoff constants of the corresponding Poincar$\acute{e}$ mapping all zeros or not.

On Poincaré polynomials for plane curves with quasi-homogeneous singularities

Abstract:We define a combinatorial object that can be associated with any conic-line arrangement with ordinary quasi-homogeneous singularities, which we call the combinatorial Poincaré polynomial. We prove a Terao-type factorization statement on the splitting of such a polynomial over the rationals under the assumption that our conic-line arrangements are free. Then we focus on the so-called $d$-arrangements in the plane. In particular, we provide a combinatorial constraint for free $d$-arrangements admitting ordinary quasi-homogeneous singularities.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with the fractional nonlinear Schrödinger equation with periodic boundary conditions (0.1) iut+−Δs0u+−Δr0f(|u|2)u=0,x∈T≔R/2πZ, where s0∈(1/2,1) , r0∈[0,s0−1/2] and f is a real analytic function in some neighborhood of the origin in C . The above equation (0.1) is reversible with respect to the involution G:(u,ū)↦(ū,u) . By the KAM (Kolmogorov–Arnold–Moser) theorem for an infinite dimensional reversible system with unbounded perturbation, we obtain that there exists Cantor families of quasi-periodic solutions of small amplitude to equation (0.1).

Abstract:We propose a twist condition, inspired by the classical Poincaré-Birkhoff theorem on area-preserving maps of the annulus, which applies to asymptotically linear Hamiltonian diffeomorphisms of linear phase space. When an asymptotically linear Hamiltonian diffeomorphism, non-degenerate and unitary at infinity, satisfies this twist condition, we show that it has infinitely many periodic points.

On bifurcation and spectral instability of asymptotic quasinormal modes in the modified Pöschl-Teller effective potential

Abstract:The Pöchl-Teller effective potential mimics an asymptotically de Sitter black hole bounded by an event horizon and a cosmological one. Owing to the benefit of being analytically soluble, the asymptotic quasinormal modes in the modified Pöschl-Teller potential have been extensively explored in the literature by various authors, and the results bear distinct features. Specifically, for small discontinuities placed at the potential's peak, Skakala and Visser showed that the resulting modes lie primarily along the imaginary frequency axis, in line with the numerical results encountered for most black hole metrics. However, it was also suggested that under ultraviolet perturbations, asymptotic modes are expected to lie parallel to the real axis, closely intervening with recent developments on spectral instability. In this work, by numerical and semi-analytical approaches, we aim to resolve the above apparent ambiguity. The numerical scheme is based on an improved version of the matrix method, which is implemented in compactified hyperboloidal coordinates on the Chebyshev grid. It is demonstrated that both asymptotic behaviors indeed agree with the numerical findings, which is somewhat to one's surprise. Specifically, we report the emergence of a novel branch of purely imaginary modes originating from a bifurcation in the asymptotic quasinormal mode spectrum. Moreover, we demonstrate how the bifurcation and asymptotic modes evolve as the discontinuity moves away from the potential's peak, furnishing a dynamic picture as the spectral instability unfolds. It is further argued that they can be partly attributed to the observed parity-dependent deviations occurring for the low-lying perturbed modes of the original Pöschl-Teller effective potential.

Abstract:Here we investigate the Gevrey normalization for quasi-periodic systems by the Siegel type small divisors condition. More precisely, we provide a sharper expression of the loss of the regularity by the lowest order of resonant terms together with indices of Gevrey smoothness and Siegel type condition in the original systems. The tool utilized here is the KAM method in the Banach space fixed with weighted norms.

As some applications, we apply our results to quasi-periodic Schrodinger equations with an external parameter to study the Lyapunov stability of the equilibrium and the existence of quasi-periodic solutions.
