Abstract:With the rapid development of wearable electronics and artificial intelligence, there is an increasing demand for ultrasensitive, wide-range detecting and durable piezoresistive sensors. In this work, we fabricated a self-healing polyurethane (PU) sponge based on polyester polyols containing reversible disulfide bonds and multiple hydrogen interactions. Based on above-mentioned PU sponge, a self-healing, lightweight and compressible piezoresistive sensor with three-dimensional porous structures was prepared through facile repeated dip-coating process. The resultant multiwalled carbon nanotubes/Ag nanoparticles decorated polyurethane (MWCNTs/AgNPs@PU) sponge exhibited very low density (0.034~0.075 g·cm -3 ), high electrical conductivity (0.092 S/m) and excellent compressibility (up to 80%). Owing to the exchange reaction of dynamic disulfide bonds and reestablishment of multiple hydrogen bonds, the MWCNTs/AgNPs@PU sponge could be rapidly self-healed at room temperature and showed a self-healing efficiency of up to 68.3%. As a piezoresistive sensor, it possessed outstanding strain sensing properties due to the synergistic effects of “micro-crack effect” and “contact effect”. The resultant piezoresistive sensor exhibited wide compressive stress range (0~690.1 kPa), excellent sensitivity (maximum gauge factor =15.3) and superior durability at various compressive strain. Finally, we applied the as-prepared MWCNTs/AgNPs@PU sponge-based piezoresistive sensor in monitoring human motions and multi-site position as well as water droplets detection, indicating its great prospects in wearable electronic devices and electronic skins.
