Abstract:An efficient metal-free annulative vinylene transfer protocol for the synthesis of benzo-fused indolizines via 1,3-dipolar cycloadditions of N-ylides with vinylene carbonate has been developed. Vinylene carbonate serves as an acetylene surrogate without any external oxidant involved. This transformation leads to the direct construction of versatile benzo-fused indolizine derivatives in moderate to good yields.

Abstract:We report a Cu(II)-catalyzed C-H amidation/cyclization of azomethine imines with dioxazolones as acyl nitrene transfer reagents under additive- and ligand-free conditions. An array of 1,2,4-triazolo[1,5-a]pyridine derivatives were afforded in moderate to good yields with excellent functional group tolerance. In addition, scale-up reaction and photoluminescence properties were discussed.

Abstract:Mn(III)-mediated formal [3+3]-annulation has been developed using readily available vinyl azides and cyclopropanols with a wide range of substituents. Vinyl azides were successfully applied as a three-atom unit including one nitrogen to prepare pyridines and δ-lactams by the reactions with monocyclic cyclopropanols as well as to construct 2-azabicyclo[3.3.1] and 2-azabicyclo[4.3.1] frameworks with bicyclic cyclopropanols, bicyclo[3.1.0]hexan-1-ols, and bicyclo[4.1.0]heptan-1-ols. These reactions were initiated by a radical addition of β-carbonyl radicals, generated by the one-electron oxidation of cyclopropanols with Mn(III), to vinyl azides to give iminyl radicals, which cyclized with the intramolecular carbonyl groups. In addition, application of the present methodology to a synthesis of the quaternary indole alkaloid, melinonine-E, was accomplished.

Abstract:The first asymmetric decarboxylative [4 + 3] annulation of propargylic carbamates with C, N-cyclic azomethine imines has been developed successfully by a copper- N-heterocyclic carbine system. This strategy led to a series of optically active isoquinoline-fused triazepine derivatives in good yields and with excellent enantio- and diastereoselectivities. Remarkably, Cu-allenylidene intermediates play a crucial role in this transformation.

Abstract:A facile and novel way was established for the synthesis of triazolinone scaffolds through the [3+2] cycloaddition of C,N -cycloazomethylimines with dioxazolones in the presence of CH 3 ONa. In these transformations, isocyanates were formed in situ by the decarboxylation and curtius rearrangement of dioxazolones. Importantly, the isocyanate formed from dioxazolone is the first time to be employed as the synthon instead of the widely used N -acyl nitrenes. The newly developed [3+2] cycloaddition was applicable to a broad range of substrates with high functional group tolerance, providing various triazolinones in good to excellent yields (up to 94%). Addictionally, this method is easy to operate, green and environmental friendly avoiding highly toxic reagents.

Abstract:Here we report a novel Rh-catalyzed C-H/C-H alkenylation of <i>N</i>-arylmethanimines with vinylene carbonate acting as a vinylene unit. Forty examples of C3,C4-nonsubstituted quinolines were achieved from commercially available starting materials. This identified process features an exceedingly simple system, a lower loading of catalyst, and the capacity for postfunctionalization with bioactive molecules.

Abstract:An Iridium-catalyzed [4+3] cyclization of ortho -tosylaminophenyl-substituted para -quinone methides with vinylic oxiranes or vinyl aziridines has been successfully developed. In the presence of [Ir(cod)Cl] 2 and a suitable base, this unprecedented cascade reaction occurs readily in good yield (up to 97%) and high diastereoselectivity (dr >20:1), providing a highly efficient synthetic approach to synthetically valuable seven-membered heterocyclic frameworks.

Abstract:A novel and convenient transformation for the regiospecific synthesis of functionalized imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine aldehydes/ketones and 3-vinyl imidazo[1,2-a]pyridines has been developed via copper(I)- and palladium(II)-catalyzed cyclization. The one-pot reaction proceeds smoothly with commercially available catalysts and affords the products in moderate to good yields. It represents an efficient approach for the formation of C-N, C═O, and C═C bonds under mild conditions.

Abstract:Via an imine-protection strategy, we herein present an unprecedented copper-catalyzed oxidative multicomponent annulation reaction for direct synthesis of quinazolinones. The construction of various products is achieved via formation of three C-N and one C-C bonds in conjunction with the benzylic functionalization. The merits of easily available feedstocks, naturally abundant catalyst, good functional group and substrate compatibility, and release of H2O as the byproduct make the developed chemistry a practical way to access quinazolinones.

Abstract:Aliphatic allylic amines are common in natural products and pharmaceuticals. The oxidative intermolecular amination of C(sp 3 )-H bonds represents one of the most straightforward strategies to construct these motifs. However, the utilization of widely internal alkenes with amines in this transformation remains a synthetic challenge due to the inefficient coordination of metals to internal alkenes and excessive coordination with aliphatic and aromatic amines, resulting in decreasing the reactivity of the catalyst. Here, we present a regioselective Cu-catalyzed oxidative allylic C(sp 3 )-H amination of internal olefins with azodiformates to these problems. A removable bidentate directing group is used to control the regiochemistry and stabilize the π-allyl-metal intermediate. Noteworthy is the dual role of azodiformates as both a nitrogen source and an electrophilic oxidant for the allylic C-H activation. This protocol features simple conditions, remarkable scope and functional group tolerance as evidenced by >40 examples and exhibits high regioselectivity and excellent E/Z selectivity.

Abstract:Transition metal-catalyzed carbene transfer reaction is one of the most notable advances for C−C bond formation reactionsduring the past decade, which has been widely employed in the preparation of C3-substituted indoles. Here, we described an efficient example of catalyst- and metal-free aminoboration of alkynes and CC bond formation with diazo compounds to produce C3-substituted indoles. Diverse alkynylanilines and diazo compounds can be utilized for this tandem transformation under mild reaction conditions, resulting in broad functional group compatibility. Additionally, this metal-free strategy can be extended to construct substituted benzofurans.
