Abstract:γ-Carbolines were obtained in a simple one-pot Fischer arting from N-acetyl-3-bromo-4-piperidone hydrobro-reaction starting from N-acetyl-3-bromo-4-piperidone hydrobromide and substituted arylhydrazine hydrochlorides in acidic media under microwave irradiation or by a thermal process. The optimization procedures are reported in detail, and the results from micro-wave processes are compared with conventional ones.

Abstract:A simple, rapid, and highly efficient method has been developed for the aza-Michael addition of acrylonitrile to 2-aryl-oxymethylbenzimidazole derivatives in the presence of anhydrous potassium carbonate under microwave irradiation. A series novel of 1-cyanoethyl-2-aryloxymethylbenzimidazole derivatives have been prepared and characterised by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, IR spectra and elemental analysis.

Abstract:The one-pot U-4CR and intramolecular O-alkylation sequence starting from 2-aminophenols in combination with α-bromoalkanoic acids, aldehydes, and isocyanides under controlled microwave heating has been established for a rapid access to highly functionalized 3,4-dihydro-3-oxo-2H-1,4-benzoxazines. With appropriate substitutions on the 1,4-benzoxazines, a microwave-assisted Cu-catalyzed intramolecular amidation was performed to furnish a novel class of heterocyclic conjugates of 1,4-benzoxazines with a 2-oxindole linked through a C–N single bond.

Abstract:Catalytic hydration of acrolein to 3-hydroxypropionaldehyde (3-HPA) is a key step for the chemical pro-duction of 1,3-propanediol (1,3-PDO) from renewable glycerol. However, a main issue of low reaction rate and long reaction time exists in the conventional hydration process. Here, we developed a microwave-assisted system for the efficient conversion of acrolein to 3-HPA. Simultaneous cooling method was adopted to maintain continuous microwave irradiation and meanwhile stable temperature during the reaction. The effects of catalyst type, temperature, catalyst loading and microwave power on acrolein conversion and 3-HPA selectivity were examined. Kinetic study showed that microwave irradi-ation could help for the reduction in activation energy, which led to acceleration in reaction rate during the acrolein hydration process. In addition, the density functional theory (DFT) calculations on the adsorption and reaction behavior of reactants molecules on the catalyst are consistent with the experi-mental results, which confirm the intensification effect of the microwave field.(c) 2023 Elsevier Ltd. Abstract:Transition‐metal‐free access to carbazoles was achieved through base‐mediated intramolecular C–C bond formation. Reactions of N‐substituted o‐halodiarylamines with potassium tert‐butoxide in the presence of ethylene glycol or 1,10‐phenanthroline provided carbazoles in moderate to excellent yields. This transformation may proceed through a radical pathway according to a control experiment with a radical scavenger.

Abstract:An efficient and general synthesis of 2-alkyl-3,4-dihydro-3-oxo-2H-1,4-benzoxazines under controlled microwave heating has been established. It consists of a microwave-assisted reductive N-arylmethylation of substituted 2-aminophenols with aromatic aldehydes followed by a one-pot base-mediated regioselective O-alkylation of the N-arylmethyl-2-aminophenols with 2-bromoalkanoates to give the acyclic intermediates, which cyclize spontaneously to furnish the benzoxazine scaffolds in good to excellent yields. It was found that microwave heating over 180°C was necessary for ring closure of the acyclic intermediates possessing an electron-withdrawing group.

Abstract:This paper investigated a rapid one-pot synthesis method of some substituted (9-carbazoly)-carboxylic acids(3a-3m). The reaction was carried out by mixing of the 9H-carbazoles derivatives with bromo-esters and potassium hydroxide using DMF as solvent under microwave irradiation without catalyst. The optimized experiment conditions were 4-8 min irradiation time and 375 W microwave power. The required range of molar ratio of KOH to substituted carbazole was 3-5. The biological activities of some compounds have been tested. They have medium to weak antimicrobial activities.

Abstract:The goal of the following procedure is to provide a demonstration of the one-pot conversion of a 2-azido-1-nitrate-ester to a trichloroacetimidate glycosyl donor. Following azido-nitration of a glycal, the product 2-azido-1-nitrate ester can be hydrolyzed under microwave-assisted irradiation. This transformation is usually achieved using strongly nucleophilic reagents and extended reaction times. Microwave irradiation induces hydrolysis, in the absence of reagents, with short reaction times. Following denitration, the intermediate anomeric alcohol is converted, in the same pot, to the corresponding 2-azido-1-trichloroacetimidate.
