Abstract:The compound [NH(3)(CH(2))(2)NH(2)(CH(2))(2)NH(3)](2)[Mo(9)O(30)] was synthesized at 170 degrees C via hydrothermal techniques from the starting materials of Na(2)MoO(4).H(2)O, NH(2)(CH(2))(2)NH(CH(3))(2)NH(2), and H(2)O. The compound crystallizes in the space group C2/c of the monoclinic system with a = 21.308(4) A, b = 9.234(2) A, c = 19.195(4) A, beta = 120.27(3) degrees, V = 3261.9(11)A(3), Z = 4. Two novel and symmetrically related helices coexist in the centrosymmetric solid, in which the two kinds of helices appear in the left-handed and right-handed enantiomorphs, respectively. This is the first example of a helical chain structure consisting of only molybdenum-oxide building blocks. The central axis about each helical chain is a 2-fold screw axis.

Abstract:The reaction of Ni(CH3COO)2(4H2O, Na2MoO4(H2O, MoO3, 1,10-phenanthroline and 1,4-butylenediphosphonic acid in distilled water at 180 ℃ for 72 h produced two new com- pounds: {[Ni(1,10-phen)3][Ni(1,10-phen)2(Mo6O18)(O3P(CH2)4PO3)](6H2O}n 1 in 15% yield and {[Ni(1,10-phen)2(H2O)2][Ni(1,10-phen)2 (H2O)(Mo5O15)(O3P(CH2)4 PO3)](6H2O}n 2 in 47% yield. 1 and 2 both feature {MonO3nO3P(CH2)4PO3}4- (n = 5, 6) 1-D anionic chain, which is further decorated and charge compensated by [Ni(1,10-phen)2]2+. 1 contains {Mo6O24P2} cluster constructed of three pairs of face-sharing {MoO6} octahedra linked through corner-sharing interaction. 2 exhibits the characteristic structure based on pentanuclear ring of corner- and edge-sharing {MoO6} octahedra capped by three oxygen atoms of {PO3} on each side. The thermogravimetric analyses and magnetic property of 2 were also studied.

Abstract:The hydrothermal reaction of MoO 3, 2,2' bipyridine, Ru(DMSO) 4Cl 2 and H 2O at 200 ℃ for 120 h produced blue crystals. The crystal structure was determined by single crystal X ray diffraction, which was in monoclinic system with space group P2 1/ n . The unit cell parameters are as follows: a =1.352 9(5) nm, b =1.012 0(2) nm, c =1.781 9(7) nm, β =104.77(3)°, V =2.359 0(14) nm 3, M R=744.15, Z =4, d c =2.095 g·cm -3 , F (000)=144 8, μ =1.630 mm -1 , structure solution and refinement based on 3668 reflections converged at R =0.028 6, and R w =0.077 9. In the structure unit, there are three kinds of Mo atom, two of them are 6 coordinated and one, 4 coordinated. Through corner sharing bridge oxygen, they link together alternatively, forming one dimensional infinite helical chain. Besides two bridge oxygen and two end oxygen, the 6 coordinated Mo coordinates with the two nitrogen atoms of 2,2' bipynidine; at the same time, the end oxygen also form hydrogen bond C-H...O with the hydrogen on α carbon of bipyridine. The 4 coordinated Mo coordinates with two bridge oxygen and two end oxygen. The complicated hydrogen bond framework exists within the Mo -O chain and among the chains, which constructs the three dimensional structure.

Abstract:The title compound, {(H3O)4(NH4)4[Mo8O28]·2H2O}n 1, has been synthesized from the reaction of Zn(OAc)2 and (NH4)6Mo7O24·4H2O in aqueous solution at ambient temperature, and its crystal structure was determined by X-ray single-crystal analysis with the following crystallographic data: monoclinic system, space group P21/n, a=9.5234(6), b=11.3235(8),c=14.8812(10)A, β=107.467(2)°, V=1530.77(18)A3, Z=4, F(000)=1336, μ=3.293mm^-1 and Dc= 3.037g/cm3. The final R=0.0619 for 2691 observed reflections (I > 2σ(I)). X-ray crystal structure analysis showed that the novel one-dimensional chain compound is built up by basic{Mo8O28} units via single μ2-O, and such chains are further linked into a three-dimensional network by hydrogen bonds.

Abstract:A novel inorganic-organic hybrid based on isopolyanion,{[Cu2(phen)2(μ-ox)][H2Mo8O26]}·4EtOH·Et2O(1) (phen=phenanthroline,ox=oxalate),was synthesized under open-air mild reaction conditions,and characterized by elemental analysis,IR,ICP,TG and single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis.The crystal structure belongs to triclinic system with space group Pī and cell parameters:a=1.1075(5) nm,b=1.1608(5) nm,c=1.3333(5) nm,α=91.683(5)o,β=113.996(5)o,γ=112.170(5)o,V=1.4159(10) nm3,Mr=2017.44,Z=1,Dc=2.366 g/cm3 and F(000)=980.0.The structure of hybrid 1 is a 1D chain constructed of alternating octamolybdate isopolyanions [β-(Mo8O26)4-] and oxalato-bridged dinuclear copper complex cations [Cu2(phen)2(μ-ox)]2+.Ultimately,a 3D supramolecular network was formed by hydrogen bond interactions among the adjacent chains.The result shows that hybrid 1 is the first example of inorganic-organic hybrid constructed from isopolyanion and oxalato-bridged dinuclear copper complex fragment (CCDC No.665101).

Abstract:A new polyoxometalate (POM)-based compound, {[CuI(bipy)]2[MoV2MoVI6O24]}•H2O (bipy = 4,4' -bipyridine) was hydrothermally synthesized, and characterized by elemental analyses, FT-IR spectrum, Powder X-Ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and single X-ray diffraction. A structural feature of compound 1 is its unprecedented octamolybdate (Mo8) aggregate chain, which was formed via edge-sharing four distorted [MoO6] octahedra of neighbouring Mo8 clusters. An other fascinating structural features of compound 1 is its high-opened framework with rhombic channels constructed by linkages of Mo8 aggregate chains and Cu-bipy coordinated chains. Furthermore, compound 1 exhibits reversible water sorption capability.

Abstract:A series of novel double helicates, {A[Mo2ⅥO4LnⅢ (H2O)6(C4H2O6)2]·4H2O}n(Ln =Sm, Eu, Gd, Ho, Yb, Y; C4H2O6 = L-tartaric acid; A = NH4 or H3O), have been synthesized from the reactions of chiral ligands L-tartaric acid with molybdates as well as lanthanide cations. The architectures of these compounds are one dimensional enantiopure novel right- or left-handed double helical one-dimensional chains, which are somehow like DNA in general configurations. By the hydrothermal reaction method, some molybdenum oxide units such as { MoO4 }, { Mo2 O7 } , { Mo8 O26 } are linked up by transition metal/organic ligand fragments to novel zero-, one-, two- or three-dimensional structures. Most of these compounds have voids, which are occupied by some suitable crystallization herterometallate chemistry containing lanthanide cations that is synthesized by the hydrothermal reaction.The compound is built up by Silverton-type [GdMo12O42 ]9- anions linking up nine coordinated Gd3+cations. It is the first example for introducing a paramagnetic lanthanide cation into the Silverton-type anionic center, which provides a very interesting example for the further synthesis of such a kind of compound/polymer. One-dimensional polymer, [ Cu2 ( C8 H6 N2 )2 ( C7 H6 N2 ) ] 2 [ Mo8 O26 ], which consists of β-[ Mo8 O26 ]4- anions linked by quinoxaline and its oxidized product benzimidazole ligands coordinating binuclear copper(Ⅰ) fragments, provides the first example that the isolated copper(Ⅰ) complex under hydrothermal conditions "captures" the reduction product of original starting organonitrogen ligand to form a copper( Ⅰ )-β-octamolybdate complex.

Abstract:The crystal structure of the title compound, [enH2][Fe{MoV6O12(OH)3(HPO4)-(H2PO4)3}2].6en.6H2O (en = H2NCH2CH2NH2), hydrothermally synthesized from a mixture of Na2MoO4@2H2O, Fe2(SO4)3, H3PO4, H2N(CH2)2NH2 and water, has been determined by singlecrystal X-ray diffraction. The crystal is of triclinic, space group P1- with a = 11.9014(1), b =13.4246(2), c = 13.8719(2) A, α= 87.465(1), β= 69.981(1), γ= 64.960(1)°, V= 1873.46(4) A3, Z=1, Mr = 2997.89, F(000) = 1466,μ = 2.427 mm-1 and Dc = 2.657 g/cm3. The final R = 0.0404 for 5570 observed reflections (Ⅰ＞ 2σ(Ⅰ)). The structural analysis reveals that each cluster anion contains two coplanar {Mo6} rings of six edge-sharing Mo(O5OH) octahedra, and the two {Mo6} rings are linked together through one octahedral FeⅡ ion to generate a sandwich-type cluster with rigorous (1-) symmetry. Moreover, these clusters are further linked into a three-dimensional framework by hydrogen bonds.

Abstract:The controlled formation of MOF-based superstructures with well-defined nanoscale sizes and exquisite morphologies represents a big challenge, but can trigger a new set of properties distinct from their bulk counterparts. Here we report on the use of a self-assembled organic object to template the first example of a nanoscale metal-organic framework (MOF) with a helical morphology. Two prototypical MOFs (HKUST-1 and MIL-100) were used to exemplify the growth of such materials on supramolecular assemblies. Interestingly, it was found that, dependent on the nature of the precursors, not only could well-defined helical MOF nanotubes be facilely fabricated, but novel helical bundle nanostructures could also be formed. These resultant MOF superstructures show additional optical properties and could be used as precursors for the preparation of chiral nanocarbons.

Abstract:Two new members of Mo(V) phosphates were synthesized by hydrothermal methods. (enH 2 )(enH)[NaMo 12 O 24 (OH) 6 (HPO 4 ) 2 (H 2 PO 4 ) 6 ]·(en) 4 ·20H 2 O (1) (en=H 2 NCH 2 CH 2 NH 2 )[HAD-H 2 ] 2 [HAD-H] 2 [Zn 3 Mo 12 O 24 (OH) 6 (PO 4 ) 2 (HPO 4 ) 6 ]·6H 2 O ( 2 ) (HAD=H 2 N(CH 2 ) 6 NH 2 ). Compound 1 crystallized in the space group P 2(1)/ n , a =15.93120(10) Å, b =15.8946(2) Å, c =17.0665(2) Å, V =4316.02(8), β =92.9060(10)°, Z =2. Compound 2 crystallized in the space group P (−1) with a =12.3726(3) Å, b =14.1948(3) Å, c =14.2310(4) Å, α =72.7100(10), β =65.0230(10), γ =69.5600(10)°, Z =2089.70(9) Å 3 , and Z =1. The structure of 1 consists of sandwich-shaped cluster anion [Na{Mo V 6 O 12 (OH) 3 (HPO 4 )(H 2 PO 4 ) 3 } 2 ] 3− ( {Na(Mo V 6 ) 2 } ) held together via intermolecular hydrogen-bonding contacts. For the compound 2 , the sandwich-shaped clusters Zn[Mo 6 O 12 (OH) 3 (PO 4 )(HPO 4 ) 3 ] 2 ( {Zn(Mo V 6 ) 2 } are linked by tetrahedrally-coordinated zinc into layers. Organic cations ([H 3 N(CH 2 ) 6 NH 3 ] 2+ and [H 3 N(CH 2 ) 6 NH 2 ] + ) are filled in the spaces between lamellas. The layers are held together by a hydrogen-bonded network, which involves the terminal phosphate P-OH groups, as well as organic cations and several waters of solvation.

Abstract:Two new polyoxomolybdate compounds, namely [Cu-2(II)(HL)(3)](2) [Mo8O26]center dot(H2O)(4) and (1) and [Ni-II(HL)(3)](2)(Mo8O26]center dot(H2O)(3) (HL=3-{2-Pyridyl)pyrazole), were designed and synthesized under hydrothermal conditions. X-ray diffraction analyses reveal that compound 1 consists of one beta-Mo8O264- cluster and a Cu-2 dimer which is built from two Cu(II) ions linked by three 3-(2-pyridyl)pyrazole ligands. Compound 2 is generated by two kinds of polyoxomolybdate clusters of alpha-[Mo8O26](4-) and beta-[Mo8O26](4-). In complexes 1 and 2, the multi-dimensional frameworks are constructed with the help of hydrogen-bonding links between the terminaloxygen atoms of [Mo8O26](4-), water molecules, and 3-(2-pyridyl)pyrazole ligands. Abstract:A new one-dimensional (1D) chain antiferromagnet Co(ox)(bib)·H2O 1 (ox = oxalate; bib = 1,4-bis(imidazole-1-yl)benzene) has been successfully synthesized under hydrothermal condition and characterized by single crystal X-ray crystallography, powder X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, magnetic susceptibility, and heat capacity measurements. The CoII ion is connected by oxalate ions in trans-configuration to form 1D CoII-ox-CoII spin chains, which are further separated by the long organic molecule bib. The magnetic susceptibility curve shows that 1 exhibits a feature of broad maximum around 29 K, indicating strong antiferromagnetic interactions with short spin-spin correlations along the spin chains. However, no long-range order is observed due to the negligible interchain interactions through bib ligand and weak hydrogen bonds, which is further confirmed by the heat capacity data. The intrachain interaction J of −8.4 K is estimated. Both magnetic susceptibility and heat capacity results indicate that 1 exhibits a good 1D magnetism.

Abstract:A zigzag chain structural compound named Ni0.5{[Ni(en)]2[Ni(en)(H2O)]2[H3NiMo6W6O40]}·3H2O 1 (en=ethylenediamine) was hydrothermally synthesized and characterized by IR, TG and X-ray diffraction analysis. Structural analysis indicates that compound 1 exhibits an unusual Mo/W mixed NiII centered Keggin structure, which is tetra-capped by two [Ni(en)]2+ and two [Ni(en)(H2O)]2+ units. Two linkages of M–O–Ni(2) and M–O–Ni(4) connect two adjacent tetra-capping clusters in different directions, and it represents a novel inorganic–organic zigzag chain built on the NiII centered Keggin species. Compound 1 is demonstrated to be a high selectivity for benzaldehyde in the oxidation of styrene, while the magnetic data of complex 1 were fitted to the Curie–Weiss law and show antiferromagnetic interactions.

Crystallographic data: Orthorhombic, Pnma, H3Mo3NaO11, M-r = 489.83, a = 8.411(2), b = 7.566(2), c = 14.359(3) Angstrom, V = 913.8(3) Angstrom (3), Z = 4, D-c = 3.560 g.cm(-3), mu = 4.148 mm(-1), F(000) = 912, the final R = 0.0649 and wR = 0.1569 for 1885 observed reflections with I greater than or equal to 2 sigma, (I). The title compound consists of infinite chains built up by distorted {MoO6} octahedra via edge sharing, which are further connected into a three-dimensional framework by sodium ions and protoned water molecules.

Abstract:Two novel organic-inorganic hybrid polyoxometalates, [Cu(2,2'-bpy)(2)](2)[(HmXMo10Mo2O40)-Mo-VI-O-V]center dot 2H(2)O (X = P, m = 11: X = Si, m = 22; 2,2'-bpy -ridine), have been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions and structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. They are isostructural, possessing orthorhombic, and the parameters of unit cells for compound 1 are space group Pbca, a = 17.317(4) angstrom. b = 17.092(3) angstrom, c = 20.587(4) angstrom, V = 6445(2) angstrom(3), Z = 4; for compound 2 are space group Pcab, a = 17.181(3) angstrom b = 18.198(4) angstrom, c = 20.672(4) angstrom, V= 6463(2) angstrom(3), Z = 4. The two compounds show a layer framework constructed from Keggin-poly-oxoanion clusters and [Cu (2, 2'-bpy)(2)](2+) coordination polymer fragments via weak covalent interactions, resulting in a 3D network via supramolecular interactions. Abstract:A new one-dimensional Fe(II)molybdophosphate of the formula, [(C10H8N2)H2]2[Fe4(II)Mo12(V)(HPO4)6(PO4)2(H2O)8(OH)6O24]·8H2O, (1), has been synthesized by employing hydrothermal methods and characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction. The structure consists of a network of MO6 (M=Fe, Mo) octahedra and (H)PO4 tetrahedra linked through their vertices. The connectivity between the polyhedral units gives rise to one-dimensional chains with eight-membered apertures. The hydrogen bonded interactions between the chains form pseudo two-dimensional layers. Extensive hydrogen bonding also exists between the amine molecule, 4,4′-bipyridine, water molecule and framework oxygen atoms. Crystal data for 1: monoclinic, space group=P21 (no. 4), a=12.549(3) (Å), b=23.496(5) (Å), c=14.551(3) (Å), β=114.87(3)°, V=3892.5(15)Å3, and Z=2.

Abstract:A novel manganiferous polymeric complex [(imid)(2)(ta)Mn-0.5](n) (imid = imidazole, ta = terephthalato) was synthesized by the hydrothermal reaction of MnO2, terephthalic acid, imidazole, and H2O. Structure analysis indicates that the compound crystallizes in the triclinic system, space group P1, with a = 8.1500(16), b = 8.5100(17), c = 9.0500(18)angstrom, alpha = 72.77(3), beta = 65.50(3), gamma = 77.22(3)degrees, V = 542.02(19) angstrom(3), Z = 2, D-c = 1.505 g/cm(3), F(000) 253, M, = 245.69, mu(MoK alpha) = 0.655 mm(-1), R 0.0733 and wR = 0.1703 for 1673 observed reflections (I > 2 sigma(I)). The compound is characteristic of a zigzag chain-like framework built up of ta bridge and (Imid)(4)Mn group. The 1-D frameworks are held together by H-bonds between the dangling N-H donors from imid and O acceptors from ta.
