Abstract:A transition-metal- and oxidant-free amination/cyclization reaction to access 1,2,4-triazolo[1,5-a]pyridines was realized in water by using amino diphenylphosphinate as amino source. A broad array of readily accessible N-(pyridyl)amides could be converted into the products featuring a diverse set of functional groups. The sustainable methodology was successfully applied to the late-stage functionalization of natural products and drugs.

Abstract:A novel method for the organocatalytic syn diacetoxylation of alkenes has been developed using aryl iodides as efficient catalysts. A broad range of substrates, including electron-rich as well as electron-deficient alkenes, are smoothly transformed by the new procedure, furnishing the desired products in good to excellent yields with high diastereoselectivity (up to >19:1 dr).

Abstract:Herein, we disclose the metal-free synthesis of arylamines via the direct amination of phenols using aminating reagents. This reaction procedure uses easy accessible aminating reagents and provides a versatile synthetic route to a broad range of arylamines with various functionalities in good to excellent yield. By using a two-step route of amination and oxidative coupling reaction, we synthesized three naturally occurring carbazole alkaloids: murrayafoline A, mukonine, and clausenine from two commercially available phenols.

Abstract:A metal-free sequential dual oxidative amination of C(sp(3))-H bonds under ambient conditions was the first developed, affording imidazo[1,5-a]pyridines in good to excellent yields. Abstract:Dual catalyst-controlled intramolecular unactivated C(sp(3))-H amination and oxygenation of carbamates merging visible-light photocatalysis and earth-abundant transition metal catalysis have been reported. Useful amino alcohol and diol derivatives could be selectively obtained from readily available tertiary alcohol derivatives. The possible mechanisms have been proposed via a 1,5-HAT process followed by Lewis acid-controlled cyclization. The nickel and zinc catalysts inhibit the formation of oxygenation and amination products, respectively. An interesting phenomenon of chirality transfer is also observed.

Abstract:Background The ubiquitous oxazoles have attracted more and more attention in both industrial and academic fields for decades. This interest arises from the fact that a variety of natural and synthetic compounds which contain the oxazole substructure exhibit significant biological activities and antiviral properties. Although various synthetic methodologies for synthesis of oxazols have been reported, the development of milder and more general procedure to access oxazoles is still desirable. Results In this manuscript, a novel method for synthesis of polysubstituted oxazoles was developed from metal-free decarboxylative cyclization of easily available primary α-amino acids with 2-bromoacetophenones. Conclusions The method was simple, and this reaction could be carried out smoothly under mild and metal-free conditions. By virtue of this method, various polysubstituted oxazoles were obtained from the primary α-amino acids with moderate yields.

Abstract:An efficient and highly selective method for the oxidative conversion of primary amines to the corresponding nitriles using trichloroisocyanuric acid in the presence of catalytic TEMPO under mild reaction conditions is described. Other functional groups such as C,C-double bonds, benzyloxy etc. were found to be unaffected under the reaction conditions. This procedure provides a new entry to the synthesis of various aliphatic, aromatic and heterocyclic nitriles in excellent yield.

This metal-free method operates under mild conditions and is compatible with various amino acids. Abstract:A new method for direct synthesis of β-ketoenamines was developed by a BF3·OEt2-catalyzed cyclization of 1-iodoalkyne and α-keto acid followed by an amine-mediated ring-opening in one pot. Its metal-free conditions allowed the easy synthesis of those products bearing the transition metal-sensitive functional groups. Its three-component process achieved wide range of functionalized products.

Abstract:A simple, general and efficient method is developed for the metal-free iodination of arylboronic acids. The protocol uses very cheap molecular iodine as the halide source and potassium carbonate as the base. The method is highly tolerant of various functional groups present in the substrates. Importantly, the iodination strategy can also be applied very effectively in the one-pot, two-step synthesis of biaryl derivatives.

Abstract:A metal-free and 4-methyl aniline mediated method for the oxidative C-C bond cleavage has been developed. The reaction proceeds in air using molecular oxygen as the oxidant, affording one-carbon shortened esters in moderate to good yields within a short time. Abstract:Carbamoyl azide is an important compound which was transformed into urea, amine and applied to nitrene insertion reaction. We developed a novel metal‐ and oxidant‐free method for the direct synthesis of carbamoyl azide from acid redox active esters. A variety of functional groups were tolerated. In addition, the late‐stage modification of natural products and drugs paves the way for the design and finding new drug lead molecules.

Abstract:The conversion of C‒H bonds to C‒N bonds offers a sustainable and economical strategy for the synthesis of nitrogen-containing compounds. However, challenges regarding the control of regio- and stereoselectivity currently limit the broad applicability of intermolecular C( sp 3 )‒H amination reactions. We address these restrictions by directed nitrene-mediated C‒H insertion using a metal-coordinating functional group. We report a highly stereocontrolled, iron-catalysed direct α-amination of abundant carboxylic acid feedstock molecules. The method provides in a single step high-value N -Boc-protected α-monosubstituted and α,α-disubstituted α-amino acids, which can then be immediately used for applications including solution- and solid-phase peptide synthesis. This method fulfils important aspects of sustainability by being highly step efficient and utilizing non-toxic, Earth-abundant iron as the catalytic metal.

Abstract:Transition-metal-free synthesis of α-aryl esters and nitriles using arylboronic acids with α-aminoesters and α-aminoacetonitriles, respectively, as the starting materials has been developed. The reaction represents a rare case of converting C(sp(3))-N bonds into C(sp(3))-C(sp(2)) bonds. The reaction conditions are mild, demonstrate good functional-group tolerance, and can be scaled up.

Abstract:Alkynyl amides play crucial roles in organic synthesis in the production of bioactive compounds and valuable heterocycles. Despite numerous studies on their synthesis, challenges persist due to the necessity of harsh or hazardous conditions and the use of costly or unstable reagents. Herein, we present a one-pot method for the synthesis of all three bonds of the alkyne under transition-metal free conditions. An important feature of this chemistry is the use of readily available feedstock chemicals, such as methyl esters and acetamides. This approach offers efficient access to a wide range of aryl and alkyl alkynyl amides and demonstrates excellent tolerance towards various functional groups in a sustainable and cost-effective manner.
