Abstract:Slope instability is one of the important factors affecting open pit mine's safety production, and it is difficult to detect and monitor the slope stability. Because deformation disasters can be caused by a variety of natural or human factors, and the traditional contact single-point monitoring method is full of difficulty in construction and is hard to ensure operators' safety, and optical remote sensing is vulnerable to weather. Based on Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) technique and radar differential interferometry (D-InSAR) theory, the newly emerging Ground-based Micro Deformation Monitoring Radar are featured with obtaining high-precision, multi-band, multi-polarization, multi-mode and multi-perspective images of observed scene in all weather throughout the day. By taking an open pit mine in Inner Mongolia, China as an example, the paper focuses on the application and unique features of Ground-based Micro Deformation Monitoring Radar in mine slope deformation monitoring, including extracting and analyzing various information contained in phase and amplitude, visually describing the change process and development trend of mine slope stability in the mode of both single-point monitoring and regional monitoring, and deducing the deformation discriminating mechanism between man-made and natural factors.
