Abstract:The current study revised the subjective value inventory (SVI). Firstly, we translated, modified, and altered all of the 16 items of the SVI, then we conducted item analysis, reliability analysis, criterion-relater analysis, and discriminant analysis by setting simulated negotiation situation. The results from the distributive and integrative negotiation verified the three-factor structure of the SVI. The current study suggested that the reliability and validity of Chinese version of SVI were good, and the inventory was an effective tool for measuring social psychological outcomes of negotiation.

Abstract:This study examined the structure, reliability, and validity of the revised Chinese version of the Child and Adolescent Perfectionism Scale (N = 933). The results confirmed the four-factor structure of the Chinese version of the Child and Adolescent Perfectionism Scale. Implications, limitations, and suggestions for future research are provided.

Abstract:Journal of Career Assessment, Ahead of Print. The present study aims to validate the Chinese version of the Work Volition Scales (WVS), an instrument that assesses three components of work volition: volition, financial constraint, and construct constraint. In Study 1 (N = 498), the WVS was translated into Chinese, and an exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was conducted resulting in that three factors were consistent with the original scale. In Study 2 (N = 442), the confirmatory factor analysis showed that the bifactor model provided the most parsimonious fit to the data. The measurement invariance test then revealed that the WVS is equivalent across gender, age, education level, and job tenure. In addition, convergent and concurrent validity supported the finding that the WVS and three subscales are linked with related variables. The results support significant incremental validity in predicting career satisfaction, meaningful work, and life well-being. The findings suggest that the WVS is a valuable instrument for researchers and career counselors who seek to explore work volition among Chinese working adults.

Abstract:The Psychology of Working Theory (PWT) was developed to complement existing vocational theories [1], in which work volition is a central construct. There is a lack of local measurement tools for Chinese university students' work volition, which restricts the breadth and depth of research. Based on survey data from 960 college students nationwide, this study explored the cross-cultural validity of the WVS-SV. Through exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis, a measurement scale of work volition was developed involving two dimensions of volition and constraints, with a total of fourteen items. This study opens up new perspectives for work volition research, enriches the literature on careers guidance research, and provides an effective measurement tool for subsequent research on college students' work volition.
The Revision of the Personal Need for Structure Scale in Chinese

Abstract:The purpose was to revise the Chinese version of the Personal Need for Structure(PNS) Scale.The questionnaire was administered to 1042 participants.The item analysis showed that all of the 11 items met the psychometric criteria.The confirmatory factor analysis indicated that the Chinese version of PNS containing 11 items was composed of two dimensions,which remained the same structure as the original version.These two dimensions were desire for structure and response to lack of structure.The internal consistency reliability and the split-half reliability were all above 0.80.The test-retest reliability was 0.79.The results indicated that the scale has acceptable discriminant validity and convergent validity.

Abstract:Objective: To revise the Chinese version of the Social Comparison Orientation Scale. Methods: The questionnaire was administered to two samples with total of 1023 individuals. Results: The item analysis showed that all of the 11 items met psychometric criteria. The confirmatory factor analysis indicated that the Chinese version of Social Comparison Scale was composed of two dimensions, which were ability and concept, which can explained 55. 6% of total variance. The internal consistency reliability was 0. 88 and the four weeks tesl-retest reliability coefficient was 0. 89. The further analysis revealed that the male sample had significantly lower scores than female sample (39. 4 ± 8. 7/41. 4 ±7. 3, t= -4. 06), and the employee sample had significantly lower scores than student sample (39. 5 ± 8. 6/41. 3 ±7. 5, t = -3. 98, P <0.01) . The discrimination validity and the convergent validity were also examined. Conclusion: The revised Chinese version of the Social Comparison Scale with acceptable psychometric quality can be applied in related psychological research areas.
A Preliminary Study on Self-constructionals Scales (scs)of Chinese-Version

Abstract:Objective: To explore psychometric properties of a Chinese version of Self-constructionals Scales (SCS). Methods: The scores of the SCS from randomly selected 468 high-school students were analysed. Results: Correlation coefficients of all items-subscales were between 0.41 and 0.83. The internal consistency of the interdependent subscale and independent subscale were respectively 0.76 and 0.81. And the internal consistency of the SCS was 0.88. Factor analysis showed that the cumulative contribution of the two factors was 63.18%. Conclusion: To some extent the Chinese version of Self-constructional Scales (SCS) has good reliability and validity, and it is worthy of spread.

Abstract:Workplace aggressive behavior is one of the negative behaviors. In recent years, more and more western scholars and managers have showed great interest in it. It is showed that there are many aggressive behaviors in Chinese workplace too. However, the research of workplace aggressive behavior is rare in China. This study aims at reversing the scale of workplace aggressive behavior and tests its validity. Through translation & back-translation, and Data analysis of EFA & CFA, the 7-iterm single dimension scale was settled. In addition, the result from regression analysis showed that workplace aggressive behavior can explain 9.3% variance of work satisfaction; on the other hand, workplace aggressive behavior can explain 9.1% variance of turnover intention. So, we can say that our scale has good predictive validity.

Abstract:Objective To revise the General Domain Sense of Control Scale and Modes of Control Scale the two sub-scales of the Shapiro Control Inventory(SCI),and evaluate their reliability and validity.Methods After 343 college students completed the measure of the revised SCI,factor analysis (principal components method) was used to verify the construct of the two scales,and internal consistency reliability and test-retest reliability were examined.Results Two factors(15 items) were obtained from the General Domain Sense of Control Scale and Four factors(44 items) from Modes of Control Scale,which showed the same construct between the revised scales and the original scales. in addition,internal consistency reliabilities of the scales (Cronbach's Alphas) were between 0.55~0.88,and test-retest reliabilities were between 0.70~0.88. Conclusion The revised scales have a favorable internal construct and appropriate reliability.
The Revision and Preliminary Application of Social Skill Scale

Abstract:Objective: 1)To revise the Social Skills Scale (SSS) and examine its psychometric properties.2) To explore the relationship between SSS and mental health. Methods:1)A sample of 394 freshmen completed the Social Skills Scale, SCL-90, and Self Consistency and Congruence Scale. Exploratory factor analysis, item analysis, reliability and validity analysis were used to revise the Social Skills Scale. 2) The relations between the SSS , SCL-90 and Self Consistency and Congruence Scale were examined.Results:Using exploring factor analysis, 5 factors were extracted, i.e. social adaptation, social perception, social confidence, social expression, and impression management. The mean inter-item correlation coefficients ranged from 0.52 to 0.77. The correlation coefficients of item and corresponding subscale ranged from 0.52 to 0.77, and the item discrimination indexes ranged from 0.32 to 0.52. Social adaptation, social perception and impression management were positively correlated with mental health. Social confidence was negatively correlated with mental health. Social expression did not correlation with mental health. Conclusion:The revised Social Skills scale was an reliable and valid measurement.

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To develop and evaluate scaling and scoring assumptions, and the reliability and the validity of a Chinese version of the SF-36 scales.METHODS:A multi-stage mixed sampling procedure was used to select a representative sample of the general population. The sample size was 1 000 households. All family members of a selected household, aged 18 and older, completed a survey by self-administration. Formal psychometric methods for testing assumptions underlying item scoring and scale construction were used according to the standard procedure of the IQOLA Project.RESULTS:Of the 1 985 collected questionnaires, 1 972 were qualified. Of them, 1 688 (85.6%) were respondents. 1 316 respondents answered all 36 items, while the remaining (372 respondents) answered with one or several missing responses. Among the non-respondents, 65.5% were illiteracy or quasi-illiteracy. The assumption of equal intervals was violated for the VT and MH scales. The recoded item values were used to calculate scale scores. The clustering and ordering of the item means were approximately the same as that of the source version and other two Chinese versions. The items in each scale had similar standard deviations except those in the PF, BP, SF scales. The correlations between an item and its hypothesized scale were identical for all except the SF and VT scales. The scaling success rates of convergent validity were 0% for the SF scale, 75% for the VT scale, and 100% for the other six scales. The scaling success rates of discriminat validity ranged from 87.5% to 100% for all scales except for the SF scale. The Cronbach' alpha coefficients of internal consistency reliability ranged from 0.72 to 0.88, which were satisfactory for group comparison except 0.39 for the SF scale and 0.66 for the VT scale. The two-weeks test-retest reliability coefficient ranged from 0.66 to 0.94. Factor analysis identified two principal components: a "physical" factor and a "mental" factor. Taken together, these two factors could be used to explain 56.3% of the total variance.CONCLUSION:The Chinese version of the SF-36 Health Survey Scale has achieved conceptual equivalence and satisfied the psychometric scaling assumptions well enough to warrant wide use in China. Known-groups validity will give more meaningful evidences of the validity of the Chinese SF-36 scales.
Revision and reliability and validity evaluation of School Teenagers' Life Skills Scale

Abstract:Objective To revise the School Teenagers' Life Skills Scale (STLSS) and to evaluate its reliability and validity for the application of the instrument among Chinese students.Methods Two qualitative interviews,item analysis,and exploratory factor analysis were adopted to revise the STLSS.Reliability and validity of the STLSS were evaluated with a survey conducted among 4 528 students recruited from 24 junior or senior high schools in Beijing,Tianjin,and Chongqing municipality,Liaoning and Guangdong province,and Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region from October 2013 to January 2014.Results The revised STLSS was composed of 21 items for 5 dimensions including thinking ability (5 items),self-perception ability (5 items),efficient communication-interpersonal relationship ability (5 items),emotion adjustment-stress coping ability (3 items) and empathy ability (3 items).Exploratory factor analysis revealed 5 common factors of the scalse,which can explain 52.672％ of the total variance,and all loadings and communalities of the 5 factors were greater than 0.40 after being rotated.The correlation coefficients of every item to its dimension were ranged from 0.35 to 0.84 (P ＜ 0.001) and the item discrimination of the scale was good.For the revised scale,the overall test-retest reliability was 0.74 (P ＜ 0.01);the split-half reliability was 0.79;the overall Cronbach's alpha was 0.82 and all the Cronbach's alpha of every subscales were greater than 0.68.Confirmatory factor analysis results showed a good fitness of the revised scale (x2 =1291.51,P ＜0.01,goodness-of-fit index[GFI] =0.95,adjusted goodness-of-fit index [AGFI] =0.93,root mean square error of approximation [RMSEA] =0.052;incremental fit index [IFI] =0.91,comparative fit index [CFI] =0.91,parsimony normed fit index [PNFI] =0.76,parsimony goodness of fit Index [PGFI] =0.73).The correlation coefficients of the overall scale and the subscales were all greater than 0.50 (P ＜ 0.01);the total score and the subscales scores of the scale were positively correlated with the score of the Internal and External Source Control Scale (r =0.53-0.71,P ＜ 0.01),and also correlated with the Internal and External Locus of Control Scale (r =-0.26-0.43,P ＜ 0.01).Conclusion The reliability and validity of the revised School Teenagers' Life Skills Scale meet the requirements of psychometrics among Chinese high school students and the scale could be adopted to assess Chinese school teenager's life skills.
Validation of the Emotional Intelligence Scale

Abstract:The Chinese version of the Emotional Intelligence Scale was revised.The questionnaire was administrated to two samples with a total of 920 undergraduates.Item analysis show that all of the 33 items meet psychometric criteria.The exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis indicates that the Chinese version of Emotional Intelligence Scale is composed of four dimensions(CMIN/DF=2.19,CFI=0.90,GFI=0.93,AGFI=0.90,RMSEA=0.05).It is different from the one-factor structure and the four factor structure,which are reported in previous studies using samples in the West.The internal consistency reliability of the scale was 0.85.Further analysis reveals that there are no gender differences.The convergent validity and criterion-related validity are satisfactory.The revised Chinese version of the Emotional Intelligence Scale has good psychometric quality and can be applied in related psychological research areas.

Abstract:Background Work personality was found to relate to successful work adjustment, job readiness, work motivation and job maintenance. The revised developmental work personality scale (RDWPS) is a self-reported assessment to evaluate the work personality of the examinee which further psychometric study is required and needs to be applied to different culture. The aim of this study was to examine the theoretical structure, validity, and reliability of the traditional Chinese version of the RDWPS. Methods The subjects were 113 university students with no known physical or mental illness who aged between 19 and 22. Cluster analysis was used to examine the theoretical structure. Rasch analysis was applied to examine the psychometric properties. Results We dropped the unfit three items and found the 11 items of traditional Chinese version of the RDWPS was adequate to fit the theoretical construct. The results of the Rasch analysis showed that the 11 items with a three-point rating scale of the traditional Chinese version of the RDWPS had acceptable internal consistency (α = 0.76), moderate reliability, and met the criteria of unidimensionality. Conclusions The results of this study provided initial evidence that the traditional Chinese version of the RDWPS can be readily applied to research related to work behavior for those whose primary language is traditional Chinese, with adequate reliability and validity.

Abstract:The purpose of this study was to validate the Chinese version of the Procrastination at Work Scale (PAWS), a recently developed scale aimed at assessing procrastination in the work context. We translated the PAWS into Chinese and conducted exploratory factor analysis on participants in sample A ( N = 236), resulting in a two-factor solution consistent with the original PAWS. In sample B ( N = 227), confirmatory factor analysis showed that a two-factor, bifactor model fit the data best. Configural, metric, and scalar invariance models were tested, which demonstrated that the Chinese version of the PAWS did not differ across groups by gender, age, education, or job position. Validity testing demonstrated that the scale relates to work engagement, counterproductive work behavior, task performance, workplace well-being, and organizational commitment. This study indicated that the Chinese version of the PAWS could be used in future research to measure procrastination at work in China.

Abstract:To validate the Chinese version of the Personal Need for Structure Scale, questionnaires were ad ministered to 1,418 individuals in threes samples. Item-total correlations and internal consistency of the scale were acceptable. The test-retest reliability was .79. Confirmatory factor analysis indicated that the Chinese version comprised two dimensions, as did the original version; Desire for Structure and Response to Lack of Structure. Correlation coefficients between the Personal Need for Structure Scale and other related measures indicated that the scale has acceptable discriminant validity and convergent validity.

Abstract:The aim of this study was to translate the Multidimensional Workaholism Scale (MWS) into Chinese and then test its reliability and validity among full-time Chinese employees in two stages. In Study 1 (N = 220), the MWS was translated and exploratory factor analysis was conducted resulting in a four-factor solution consistent with the original MWS: motivational, cognitive, emotional, and behavioral. In Study 2 (N = 425), confirmatory factor analysis showed that a four-factor, bifactor model was the best fit for the data. Configural, metric, and scalar invariance models were tested which demonstrated that the Chinese version of the MWS did not differ across gender, age, and job position groups. Finally, workaholism and engagement were related and distinct from one another, and they correlated with emotional exhaustion, work-family conflict and life well-being uniquely. This study indicated that the Chinese version of the MWS is a valid and reliable tool for Chinese employees, and this has important practical implications for the individual health and career development of Chinese working adults.
Reliability and validity of the Chinese version of Positive and Negative Affect Schedule-Expanded in 660 college students

Abstract:Objective:To revise and introduce the Positive and Negative Affect Schedule-Expanded(PANAS-X)developed by Waston and Clark,and examine its reliability and validity in China.Methods:Totally 660 college students completed a battery of structured questionnaires,including the Chinese Version of PANAS-X,Index of Well-Being,Index of General Affect,and Sympton Checkists-90(SCL-90).Results:The revised PANAS-X Scale consisted of 40 items,and 9 subscales.Exploratory factor analysis supported a nine-factor structure,and their cumulative contribution rate was 68.61%.Confirmatory factor analysis confirmed the hypothesized nine-factor model(χ2/df=2.60,RMSEA=0.07,CFI=0.9).PANAS-X presented complicated relationships with the index of general affect and SCL-90,which were largely consistent to our expectation.The internal consistencies were between 0.639 and 0.905.The test-retest reliabilities of the nine subscales was 0.69 after 1 week and 0.64 after 1 month.Conclusion:The Chinese version of PANAS-X is reliable and valid for Chinese college students.

Abstract:This study translated the Work Need Satisfaction Scales (WNSS), which was conceptualized in the Psychology of Working Theory (PWT), and tested the reliability and validity of the Chinese version (WNSS-C). In Study 1 ( N = 423), the WNSS was translated into Chinese, and an exploratory factor analysis yielded a five-factor solution representing needs related to survival, social contribution, competence, relatedness, and autonomy. In Study 2 ( N = 425), confirmatory factor analyses found no significant differences between the correlated five-factor, higher-order, and higher-order self-determination needs models. The results suggest the effectiveness of using a flexible five-factor model. Then, configural, metric, and scalar invariance models were tested, demonstrating that the WNSS-C is equivalent across gender, age, education level, and job position. Finally, we tested the concurrent, convergent, and discriminant validity of the WNSS-C and demonstrated that WNSS-C is a useful tool in the Chinese context.
