Abstract:More and more attentions have been paid to reliability and safety issues rising from the increasingly complexity of electromechanical systems. Some of the evaluation methods are based on states presented in the function execution process of electromechanical systems. Although it is known that the function execution process could be regarded as a series of state transitions, identification of states and their sequences is still short of systematic research for electromechanical systems. In this paper, the functional structure of electromechanical systems is expressed in terms of IDEF (Integration DEFinition) methodology, and the behaviors of elementary function carriers in the systems are identified from the bottom layer of the functional structure. Behaviors are described by two feature states presented in the behavior process. The point-interval temporal logic is discussed, and a quantitative temporal notation is proposed to quantify the temporal relationships between states. A behavior flow network is built based on PFN (Process Flow Network), which describes the logical relations and quantitative precedence relations between behaviors. By substituting states for behaviors the behavior flow network is transformed to the state transition network, which reflects all the states in the behavior process of electromechanical systems. Based on the quantitative temporal notation and logical relations in the state transition network, states and their transition sequences are generated. The feeding system of a CNC machine tool is presented to illustrate the approaches proposed.
