Abstract:Difunctionalization of alkenes represent a convenient way to complex molecular structure. Herein, visible light-induced intramolecular carbodi(tri)fluoromethylthiolation of alkenes was reported. CC and C-S were formed in the procedure. Various fluoroalkylthiol substituted 2,3-dihydrobenzofurans (DHB) was prepared. Aryldiazonium salts derived from o-allyloxy anilines were used as precursors of aryl radicals. The following cyclization occurred, and the resulting alkyl radicals were trapped by shelf-stable reagent PhSO2SRf (Rf= SCF2H, SCF3). The direct difluoromethylthiolation on arenes was not observed. A variety of atoms and functional groups were tolerated.

Abstract:A Fe(III)-promoted highly selective photo-oxidation of benzylic C–H bond delivering relative carbonyl products is reported. By altering the concentration of ferric salt, methylarenes can be selectively oxidized under UV irradiation to furnish aromatic aldehydes or acids, respectively. By this protocol, the oxidation of ethylarenes provides the corresponding acetophenones. The reaction is inferred to involve divergent pathways in different concentrations of catalyst for the alternative selectivity between aldehydes and aicds. The reusable catalyst, high conversion and selectivity make this oxidation a green and economic protocol for the synthesis of aromatic carbonyl compounds.
Selective alpha-Bromination of Functionalized Ketene Dithioacetals

Abstract:Functionalized ketene dithioacetals are important intermediates in organic synthesis. alpha-Functionalization reactions based on them provide potential precursors for the construction of usefully carbo- and hetero-cyclic compounds. In this paper, a versatile alpha-bromination of functionalized ketene dithioacetals was developed. In the presence of H2O, the reactions of functionalized ketene dithioacetals(1) with CuBr2 in THF at room temperature gave various alpha-bromo ketene dithioacetals (2) in excellent yields with high regioselectivities. The mechanism of this alpha-bromination is proposed to undergo an addition of bromine formed in situ to compound 1 and sequontial elimination of the alpha-proton. The simplicity of execution, mild conditions, inexpensive, easily usable brominating agent and high yields, make this synthetic method attractive for practical applications.

Abstract:A Ag-CH3SO3H co-catalyzed direct Z-selective synthesis of 1,2-cis-dibromoalkenes from alkynes has been developed. Mechanistic studies showed that the reaction underwent the formation of a silver allene cation intermediate followed by sequential bromine free radical addition and substitution. This discovery might open up a new arena for silver catalysis and important allene chemistry. Additionally, an efficient PPh3-promoted E-selective synthesis of 1,2-trans-dibromoalkenes from alkynes is also disclosed. Both protocols utilized easy-to-handle N-bromosuccinimide as a sole brominating reagent and reacted under much mild reaction conditions.

Abstract:We report herein an alkenylation of benzylic C(sp3)-H bonds with diazo compounds via carbon cation intermediates with DDQ as the oxidant in the presence of a catalytic amount of Fe(ii). Diphenylmethane, toluene, benzyl methyl sulfide and their derivatives could be applied as substrates to afford the tetra-substituted olefin products, which may serve as useful building blocks in organic synthesis.

Abstract:Iron chloride has been found to be an efficient catalyst for the disproportionation of allylic alcohols, which provides a convenient method for selective transformation of allylic alcohols to alkenes and alpha,beta-unsaturated ketones. Furthermore, this catalytic system is also effective for highly selective allylic reduction of allylic alcohols, allylic ethers, and allylic acetates with benzyl alcohol under neutral and convenient reaction conditions.

Abstract:A highly effective and selective FeBr3 promoted deuterium bromination/cyclization of 1,n-enynes is reported. On one hand, the Lewis acid FeBr3 as catalyst, promoted cyclization of 1,n-enynes to afford cyclization with high efficiency. On the other hand, FeBr3 serves as the bromine source (with D2O as deuterium source) to promote the desired deuterated pyrrole derivatives containing alkenyl bromide groups. This protocol provides an effective pathway to afford deuterated alkenyl brominative compounds in (Z)-isomers with high yields and selectivity and a new way to introduce 2H into organic compounds.
