Abstract:The flexible pressure sensors enable their extensive utilization across a wide range of domains, encompassing wearable electronic devices, human–machine interfaces, electronic skin, and intelligent medical treatment. In recent years, the rapid advancements in technologies such as the Internet of Things and artificial intelligence, coupled with growing functional requirements, have given rise to a flourishing research domain focused on high-performance flexible pressure sensors. Theoretical models, structural design, and process preparation have continuously advanced flexible pressure sensors based on traditional materials. However, these advancements still fall short of meeting the demand for high quality, high sensitivity, and extensive measurement capabilities. Meanwhile, the excellent mechanical and electrical properties of 2-D materials make them the best candidate material for the next generation of pressure sensors. However, the advancement of flexible pressure sensors is currently constrained by factors such as the challenge posed by mechanical crosstalk in extensive arrays, the impact of environmental variables on achieving optimal performance, and the intricate task of decoupling multiple signals. This article reviews the current status and applications of flexible pressure sensors in recent years and puts forward some current challenges, which provides a valuable guide for future developments in this field. This review sheds light on the future of flexible pressure sensors.
