Abstract:Motivated by recent papers \cite{For-Rong 2021} and \cite{Ng-Rong 2024} we prove a boundary Schwarz lemma (Burns-Krantz rigidity type theorem) for non-smooth boundary points of the polydisc and symmetrized bidisc. Basic tool in the proofs is the phenomenon of invariance of complex geodesics (and their left inverses) being somehow regular at the boundary point under the mapping satisfying the property as in the Burns-Krantz rigidity theorem that lets the problem reduce to one dimensional problem. Additionally, we make a discussion on bounded symmetric domains and suggest a way to prove the Burns-Krantz rigidity type theorem in these domains that however cannot be applied for all bounded symmetric domains.

Abstract:By simplifying the first and the second variation formulas of the energy functional and generalizing the Weitzenbock formula, we study the stability and the rigidity of harmonic maps between Finsler manifolds. It is proved that any nondegenerate harmonic map from a compact Einstein Riemannian manifold with nonnegative scalar curvature to a Berwald manifold with nonpositive flag curvature is totally geodesic and there is no nondegenerate stable harmonic map from a Riemannian unit sphere S-n (n > 2) to any Finsler manifold.

Abstract:By introducing the Carathéodory metric, we establish the Schwarz lemma at the boundary for holomorphic self-mappings on the unit p-ball B of Cn. Furthermore, the boundary rigidity theorem for holomorphic self-mappings defined on B is obtained. These results cover the boundary Schwarz lemma and rigidity result for holomorphic self-mappings on the unit ball for p = 2, and the unit polydisk for p = ∞, respectively.

Abstract:We investigate the property of boundary rigidity for the projective structures associated to torsion-free affine connections on connected analytic manifolds with boundary. We show that these structures are generically boundary rigid, meaning that any automorphism of a generic projective structure that restricts to the identity on the boundary must itself be the identity. However, and in contrast with what happens for example for conformal structures, we show that there exist projective structures which are not boundary rigid. We characterise these non-rigid structures by the vanishing of a certain local projective invariant of the boundary.

Abstract:There are many classical results, related to the Denjoy--Wolff Theorem, concerning the relationship between orbits of interior points and orbits of boundary points under iterates of holomorphic self-maps of the unit disc. Here, for the first time, we address such questions in the very general setting of sequences $(F_n)$ of holomorphic maps between simply connected domains. We show that, while some classical results can be generalised, with an interesting dependence on the geometry of the domains, a much richer variety of behaviours is possible. Some of our results are new even in the classical setting. Our methods apply in particular to non-autonomous dynamical systems, when $(F_n)$ are forward compositions of holomorphic maps, and to the study of wandering domains in holomorphic dynamics. The proofs use techniques from geometric function theory, measure theory and ergodic theory, and the construction of examples involves a `weak independence' version of the second Borel--Cantelli lemma and the concept from ergodic theory of `shrinking targets'.

A new Schwarz-Pick Lemma at the boundary and rigidity of holomorphic maps

Abstract:In this paper we establish several invariant boundary versions of the (infinitesimal) Schwarz-Pick lemma for conformal pseudometrics on the unit disk and for holomorphic selfmaps of strongly convex domains in $\mathbb C^N$ in the spirit of the boundary Schwarz lemma of Burns-Krantz. Firstly, we focus on the case of the unit disk and prove a general boundary rigidity theorem for conformal pseudometrics with variable curvature. In its simplest cases this result already includes new types of boundary versions of the lemmas of Schwarz-Pick, Ahlfors-Schwarz and Nehari-Schwarz. The proof is based on a new Harnack-type inequality as well as a boundary Hopf lemma for conformal pseudometrics which extend earlier interior rigidity results of Golusin, Heins, Beardon, Minda and others. Secondly, we prove similar rigidity theorems for sequences of conformal pseudometrics, which even in the interior case appear to be new. For instance, a first sequential version of the strong form of Ahlfors' lemma is obtained. As an auxiliary tool we establish a Hurwitz-type result about preservation of zeros of sequences of conformal pseudometrics. Thirdly, we apply the one-dimensional sequential boundary rigidity results together with a variety of techniques from several complex variables to prove a boundary version of the Schwarz-Pick lemma for holomorphic maps of strongly convex domains in $\mathbb C^N$ for $N>1$.

Abstract:This article addresses the problem of boundary correspondence for a sequence of homeomorphisms that change the capacity of a condenser in a controlled way. To study the overall boundary behavior of these mappings, we introduce some capacity metrics in a sequence of domains with nondegenerate core. Completions with respect to these metrics add to the domains new points called boundary elements. As one of the consequences, we obtain not only sufficient conditions for the global uniform convergence of a sequence of homeomorphisms, but some applications to elasticity theory as well.

On Bundles That Admit Fiberwise Hyperbolic Dynamics

Abstract:This paper is devoted to rigidity of smooth bundles which are equipped with fiberwise geometric or dynamical structure. We show that the fiberwise associated sphere bundle to a bundle whose leaves are equipped with (continuously varying) metrics of negative curvature is a topologically trivial bundle when either the base space is simply connected or, more generally, when the bundle is fiber homotopically trivial. We present two very different proofs of this result: a geometric proof and a dynamical proof. We also establish a number of rigidity results for bundles which are equipped with fiberwise Anosov dynamical systems. Finally, we present several examples which show that our results are sharp in certain ways or illustrate necessity of various assumptions.
Rigidity properties of holomorphic isometries into homogeneous Kähler manifolds

Abstract:We prove two rigidity results on holomorphic isometries into homogeneous Kähler manifolds. The first shows that a Kähler-Ricci soliton induced by the homogeneous metric of the Kähler product of a special flag manifold (i.e. a flag of classical type or integral type) with a bounded homogeneous domain is trivial, i.e. Kähler-Einstein. In the second one we prove that: (i) a flat space is not relative to the Kähler product of a special flag manifold with a homogeneous bounded domain, (ii) a special flag manifold is not relative to the Kähler product of a flat space with a homogeneous bounded domain and (iii) a homogeneous bounded domain is not relative to the Kähler product of a flat space with a special flag manifold. Our theorems strongly extend the results in [4], [5], [12], [13] and [22].

Abstract:Let $M$ be a relatively compact $C^2$ domain in a complex manifold $\mathcal M$ of dimension $n$. Assume that $H^{1}(M,\Theta)=0$ where $\Theta$ is the sheaf of germs of holomorphic tangent fields of $M$. Suppose that the Levi-form of the boundary of $M$ has at least 3 negative eigenvalues or at least $n-1$ positive eigenvalues pointwise. We will first construct a homotopy formula for $\Theta$-valued $(0,1)$-forms on $\overline M$. We then apply a Nash-Moser iteration scheme to show that if a formally integrable almost complex structure of the Hölder-Zygmund class $\Lambda^r$ on $\overline M$ is sufficiently close to the complex structure on $ M$ in the Hölder-Zygmund norm $\Lambda^{r_0}(\overline M)$ for some $r_0>5/2$, then there is a diffeomorphism $F$ from $\overline M$ into $\mathcal M$ that transforms the almost complex structure into the complex structure on $F(M)$, where $F \in \Lambda^s(M)$ for all $s<r+1/2$.

Abstract:Let (N, g) be an n-dimensional complete Riemannian manifold with nonempty boundary partial derivative N. Assume that the Ricci curvature of (N, g) has a negative lower bound Ric >= -(n-1)c(2) for some c> 0, and the mean curvature of the boundary partial derivative N satisfies H = -(n-1) c(0) > (n-1)c for some c(0) > c > 0. Then a known result (cf. [12]) says that sup(x is an element of N) d(x, partial derivative N) <= 1/c coth(-1) c(0)/c. In this paper, we prove the rigidity result that if N is compact, then the equality holds if and only if (N, g) is isometric to the geodesic ball of radius 1/c coth(-1) c(0)/c in an n-dimensional hyperbolic space H-n(-c(2)) of constant sectional curvature -c(2). Moreover, we prove an analogous result for manifold with m-Bakry- Emery Ricci curvature bounded below by a negative constant.

Abstract:We give a short and self-contained proof of the Boundary Harnack inequality for a class of domains satisfying some geometric conditions given in terms of a state function that behaves as the distance function to the boundary, is subharmonic inside the domain and satisfies some suitable estimates on the measure of its level sets.
