Abstract:Based on linear Logistic model and by assuming the coefficients of the regressors to be arbitrary functions of the points in some metric space, a new type of regression model, called varying-coefficient Logistic model, was proposed. The local maximum likelihood approach was suggested to fit the model and the related issues such as determination of the local weights and the smoothing parameter were studied. At last, the model was applied for distinguishing analysis. The proposed model has higher flexibility and adaptability.

Abstract:In order to characterize the speed-density relationship in traffic flow,a group of generalized logistic models were proposed with physically meaningful and explicit parameters,which can fit field data well.Starting from the initial concept of Logistic model,the expression of speed change rate was discussed in detail,and thus three models were derived by modifying the change rate of speed and introducing the supremum of speed.The influences of parameters on logistic speed-density curve were provided by changing one parameter each time while keeping the others fixed,and the physical meaning of parameters and the acquisition method were discussed in detail.Both section data and fixed-location data were validated for the practicality.The result shows that the goodness of fit of model 3for the two groups of date is 0.931 3and 0.970 4respectively,and the proposed model characterize the speed-density relationship well under various traffic states.

Abstract:The logistic model is also called block growth model, its application is very wide. The model parameters is one of the important factors affecting accuracy. In this paper, based on the existing literature, a new method was put forward, namely the Newton interpolation method and the optimal weighting method for model parameter estimation. The analysis shows that it can improve the correlation coefficient, reduce the error, and has satisfactory forecast results.

Abstract:In this paper, we propose a least-squares estimator based on Logistic transformation of order statistics (LLSE) and grouped LLSE for the generalized Logistic distribution. Some asymptotic results are provided. Two simulations are undertaken to assess the performance of the proposed method and to compare them with other methods suggested in this paper. The simulation results indicate that LLSE performs better than some other methods and grouped LLSE performs fairly well in small sample size. Finally, LLSE is applied to a real dataset.

Abstract:In this paper,we propose a least squares estimator and test statistics of goodness-of-fit based on Logistic transformation for type Ⅰ generalized logistic distribution.Some asymptotic results are provided.Two simulation are undertaken to assess the performance of the proposed method and to compare them with other methods suggested in this paper.The simulation results indicate that the proposed method performs better than some other methods.Finally,the proposed method is applied to a strength data for single carbon fibers.

Abstract:We propose a joint modeling approach to investigating the effects of social‐psychological factors on the onset of depression. The proposed model comprises two components. The first one is a confirmatory factor analysis model that summarizes latent factors through multiple correlated observed variables. The second one is a logistic regression model that investigates the effects of observed and latent influence factors on the occurrence of depression. We develop a hybrid procedure based on the borrow‐strength estimation procedure and the weighted score function to estimate the model parameters. The asymptotic properties of the proposed estimators are established. Simulation studies demonstrate that the method we proposed performs well. An application to a study concerning the social‐psychological factors of depression is provided.

Abstract:In this paper,we use Logistic and Zero-Inflated Poisson(ZIP) regression models to describe and analyze the forest fire data.If we regard the forest fire data as the grouped factor data and ordinal state variable data respectively,then we can model the forest fire data by the Logistic and ZIP regression models.We use one part of forest fire data for modelling,and the rest are used to predict and validate the veracity of models.Then,the best Logistic models and the best ZIP regression models are selected.The prediction results show that the selected Logistic and ZIP regression models can be applied to analyze the relationship between fire and its influence factors.

Abstract:We wish to estimate conditional density using Gaussian Mixture Regression model with logistic weights and means depending on the covariate. We aim at selecting the number of components of this model as well as the other parameters by a penalized maximum likelihood approach. We provide a lower bound on penalty, proportional up to a logarithmic term to the dimension of each model, that ensures an oracle inequality for our estimator. Our theoretical analysis is supported by some numerical experiments.

Corporate Default Probability Model Based on Credit Spread and Logistic Regression

Abstract:There exist two problems in the application of Logistic model to calculate corporate default probabili-ties.One is that Logistic model can not be estimated or the results calculated are incorrect on the condition the corporate default records database is unavailable or the database is not typical.The other is the differences in dis-tribution characteristics of financial indicators between industries are usually ignored in current Logistic default probability models.It leads to the decrease in the accuracy of corporate default probability calculation.To solve the first problem,the corporate default probabilities implied in the corporate bond credit spreads are calculated. Then the parameters of Logistic regresion are estimated on the basis of Logistic transformation,so that the corpo-rate default probabilities calculated conform to the actual situation of the credit market.To solve the second prob-lem,it is confirmed there exist significant differences in distribution characteristics of key financial indicators between industries by singel factor variance analysis.It is also confirmed the accuracy of corporate default proba-bilites is improved significantly,calculated by the Logistic models established respectively for each industry.The process of establishment of Logistic default probability model is as follows.The financial indicators which reflect similar information are deleted through correlation analysis of financial indicators initially selected.The financial indicators with weak explanatory capacity to corporate default probability are deleted through coefficient signifi-cant test of financial indicators.According to the criterion of linear regression fitness,the key financial indicators of Logistic default probability model are selected for different industries.Logistic default probability models are established for 5 sample industries such as machinery and equipment industryetc,providing models and methods to calculate the corporate default probabilities accurately for sample industries.The innovations and characteris-tics of the paper are as follows.Firstly,the corporate default probabilities implied in the bond market are calcu-lated according to the credit spreads of corporate bonds,and taken as the explained variable of the Logistic linear regression after Logistic transformation,solving the problem to estimate the parameters of Logistic default proba-bility models without the corporate default records database.Secondly,through single factor variance analysis,it confirms that there exist significant differences in distribution characteristics of financial indicators between indus-tries,and it indicates that the Logistic default probability model should be established respectively for each industry.Thirdly,through correlation analysis of financial indicators initially selected,the financial indicators which reflect similar information are deleted;through coefficient significant test of financial indicators,the finan-cial indicators with weak explanatory capacity to corporate default probability are deleted,which ensures the key financial indicators selected finally are reasonable.Fourthly,the empirical study shows that the key financial indicators of Logistic default probability models are different between industries,and the parameters of the same financial indicators are distinctive in different Logistic default probability models.The empirical study also shows the goodness of fit and the adjusted goodness of fit are enhanced nearly one time when the Logistic default proba-bility models are established respectively for each industry instead of being as a whole.The results of the study have reference value for improving the accuracy of corporate default probability calculation,and for loan pricing, corporate bond pricing and credit risk management of commercial banks.

Abstract:Logistic regression model is widely used in ecology and in the analysis of social economic systems, because of its good adaptability. In order to improve the measurement accuracy of logistic model, this paper proposes a new method. A compound grey-logistic model is developed to carry out the grey transformation of the original data. Practice shows that the grey transformation data has better simulation accuracy; at the same time, grey transformation can reduce the observation noise of the original data. Mean absolute percentage error index has been used to evaluate the accuracy of prediction model, and information entropy can be used to evaluate the change of information entropy of forecasting data. In this paper, three cases are used to verify the applicability of grey-logistic model. From the perspective of the type of original data, the three cases represent three different data conditions: sufficient data, insufficient data, and fragmentary data. The cases represent different related fields: market share data, economic growth data, and R&D output data. The results show that the proposed grey-logistic method can effectively carry out the population growth analysis.

Abstract:In this paper, a weighted maximum likelihood technique (WMLT) for the logistic regression model is presented.This method depended on a weight function that is continuously adaptable using Mahalanobis distances for predictor variables.Under the model, the asymptotic consistency of the suggested estimator is demonstrated and properties of finite-sample are also investigated via simulation.In simulation studies and real data sets, it is observed that the newly proposed technique demonstrated the greatest performance among all estimators compared.

Abstract:This article introduces the application of Logistic Model to the discrimination.Take the rainfall of the midstream and downstream of Yangtze River as the object of the discrimination.It makes a discrimination that which observation stations belong to North of China's type and which belong to the midstream and downstream of Yangtze River's type by dealing with the rain of those areas and makes a compare with common discriminant analysis.The result proves logistic discriminant analysis is better than common discriminant analysis.

Abstract:The logistic regression model is one of the most widely used classification models. In some practical situations, few samples and massive uncertain information bring more challenges to the application of the traditional logistic regression. This paper takes advantages of the hesitant fuzzy set (HFS) in depicting uncertain information and develops the logistic regression model under hesitant fuzzy environment. Considering the complexity and uncertainty in the application of this logistic regression, the concept of hesitant fuzzy information flow (HFIF) and the correlation coefficient between HFSs are introduced to determine the main factors. In order to better manage situations with small samples, a new optimized method based on the maximum entropy estimation is also proposed to determine the parameters. Then the Levenberg–Marquardt Algorithm (LMA) under hesitant fuzzy environment is developed to solve the parameter estimation problem with fewer samples and uncertain information in the logistic regression model. A specific implementation process for the optimized logistic regression model based on the maximum entropy estimation under the hesitant fuzzy environment is also provided. Moreover, we apply the proposed model to the prediction problem of Emergency Extreme Air Pollution Event (EEAPE). A comparative analysis and a sensitivity analysis are further conducted to illustrate the advantages of the optimized logistic regression model under hesitant fuzzy environment.

Methodology

Abstract:The logistic regression model is one of the most powerful statistical methods for the analysis of binary data. The logistic regression allows to use a set of covariates to explain the binary responses. The mixture of logistic regression models is used to fit heterogeneous populations through an unsupervised learning approach. The multicollinearity problem is one of the most common problems in logistics and a mixture of logistic regressions where the covariates are highly correlated. This problem results in unreliable maximum likelihood estimates for the regression coefficients. This research developed shrinkage methods to deal with the multicollinearity in a mixture of logistic regression models. These shrinkage methods include ridge and Liu-type estimators. Through extensive numerical studies, we show that the developed methods provide more reliable results in estimating the coefficients of the mixture. Finally, we applied the shrinkage methods to analyze the bone disorder status of women aged 50 and older.

Abstract:This paper makes further research on estimating the parameters of logistic curve on based of the present document,and presents an improved method for estimating the parameters of logistic curve- optimization regression combing method,which combines creatively best optimal method and regression method.By using area search and one dimension search of the best optimal theory,we can get a series of c;and by using regression method,we can get a series ofaandb. When c equals the best optimal c~*,a and b become the best optimal a~* and b~*.The sampling calculation shows that parameter estimation method is highly precise.
Landslide Susceptibility Mapping on a Global Scale Using the Method of Logistic Regression

Abstract:This paper proposes a statistical model for mapping global landslide susceptibility based on logistic regression. After investigating explanatory factors for landslides in the existing literature, five factors were selected for model landslide susceptibility: relative relief, extreme precipitation, lithology, ground motion and soil moisture. When building the model, 70% of landslide and nonlandslide points were randomly selected for logistic regression, and the others were used for model validation. To evaluate the accuracy of predictive models, this paper adopts several criteria including a receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve method. Logistic regression experiments found all five factors to be significant in explaining landslide occurrence on a global scale. During the modeling process, percentage correct in confusion matrix of landslide classification was approximately 80% and the area under the curve (AUC) was nearly 0.87. During the validation process, the above statistics were about 81% and 0.88, respectively. Such a result indicates that the model has strong robustness and stable performance. This model found that at a global scale, soil moisture can be dominant in the occurrence of landslides and topographic factor may be secondary.

Abstract:This paper is devoted to model selection in logistic regression. We extend the model selection principle introduced by Birgé and Massart (2001) to logistic regression model. This selection is done by using penalized maximum likelihood criteria. We propose in this context a completely data-driven criteria based on the slope heuristics. We prove non asymptotic oracle inequalities for selected estimators. Theoretical results are illustrated through simulation studies.

Abstract:There has been a considerable amount of literature on binomial regression models that utilize well-known link functions, such as logistic, probit, and complementary log-log functions. The conventional binomial model is focused only on a single parameter representing one probability of success. However, we often encounter data for which two different success probabilities are of interest simultaneously. For instance, there are several offensive measures in baseball to predict the future performance of batters. Under these circumstances, it would be meaningful to consider more than one success probability. In this article, we employ a bivariate binomial distribution that possesses two success probabilities to conduct a regression analysis with random effects being incorporated under a Bayesian framework. Major League Baseball data are analyzed to demonstrate our methodologies. Extensive simulation studies are conducted to investigate model performances.
