Abstract:Large scale engineering projects (e. g., aircraft manufacturing sector) are often undertaken by several design teams, which often cooperate across time, space, and multi-disciplines. Project organizations need to assign tasks flexibly and deal with many interdependent actives effectively and efficiently through intensive coordination among actors who belong to different design teams. Currently, organizations are increasingly interested in adopting agile processes. The organizations, however, need procedures and methods for deployment of new agile processes and for tailoring them to suit the project context.This paper introduces a new paradigm called Object-Oriented based the Virtual Design Team(OOVDT) to answer the aforementioned needs of current project organizations. In this paper, a UML based project organization model is proposed. It emphasize on dynamical organization related to project flexibility, while it also support organization's need to adapt to changes and uncertainty in project environment. Then this paper analyzes the fundamental relationships among project tasks, activities, and actors in their interaction environment, and explains project tasks assignment, processes control., and actor's performance. Lastly, this paper discussed the specifics of communication among actors and information flow within the virtual design team, which is of crucial importance for the virtual design team to deal with interdependent actives and accomplish project tasks.
