Abstract:The problem of H-infinity control for a class of linear systems with state saturation nonlinearities is considered in this paper. By introducing a row diagonally dominant matrix with negative diagonal elements and a diagonal matrix with positive elements, the H-infinity control problem is reduced to a matrix inequality feasibility problem that can be solved by the proposed iterative linear matrix inequality algorithm. The effectiveness of the presented method is demonstrated by a numerical example.

Abstract:This paper develops an H-infinity control technique for uncertain linear time-delay systems, which takes account of not only plant uncertainty but also controller uncertainty. Considering additive controller gain variations, the paper focuses on the design of memoryless state feedback control such that the closed-loop system is quadratically stable and possesses an H-infinity disturbance attenuation bound for all admissible uncertainties and arbitrary unknown delay. With assumption that all the plant and controller uncertainties are described by time-varying but nom-bounded form, the design method is presented based on algebraic Riccati inequality, and furthermore the obtained results can be transferred to LMI problem based on Schur complements.

Abstract:Necessary and sufficient condition for robust H∞ control of dynamic interval systems is proposed. This robust H∞ controller guarantees not only the quadratic stability of the closed-loop systems but also the disturbance attenuation within a prescribed level in the H∞-norm sense. The results are obtained in terms of linear matrix inequalities. The illustrative example shows that this method is effective to obtain the robust H∞ controller for dynamic interval systems.

Abstract:The robust H-infinity control problem for time-varying uncertain linear systems with time-varying state and control delays is considered. Based on the Riccati equation approach, we design a robust H-infinity linear time-invariant state feedback control law, which stabilizes the system and reduces the effect of the disturbance input on the controlled output to a prescribed level for all admissible uncertainties. A sufficient condition for the existence of the robust H-infinity controller is derived and two synthesis methods are presented for a robust H-infinity control law to uncertain time-delay systems. One is to construct a robust H-infinity control law by an equivalent linear time-invariant structural description for the sufficient condition and the control law can be obtained by solving an algebraic Riccati equation (ARE). The other method is to transform the sufficient condition into a linear matrix inequality (LMI) problem and the control law can be obtained by solving the LMI. A numerical example is presented to illustrate the obtained results.

Abstract:The mixed L 1/H-infinity control problem for a class of uncertain linear singular systems is considered using a matrix inequality approach. The purpose is to design a state feedback control law such that the resultant closed-loop system is regular, impulse-free, stable and satisfies some given mixed L 1/H-infinity performance. A sufficient condition for the existence of such control law is given in terms of a set of matrix inequalities by the introduction of inescapable set and *-norm. When these matrix inequalities are feasible, an explicit expression of the desired state feedback control law is given. A numerical example is used to demonstrate the applicability of the proposed approach.

Abstract:This paper focuses on the problem of robust H-infinity control for linear uncertain time-delay systems with norm-bounded nonlinear uncertainty in both the state and control. Also, the time delay is time-varying and can exist both in the state and control. Using the fact that the type of nonlinear uncertainty set considered here has an equivalent representation by linear uncertainty set, we propose an approach for designing a memoryless state feedback control law which will stabilize the time-delay systems and, simultaneously, guarantee a prespecified H-infinity disturbance attenuation constraint for all admissible uncertainty.

The goal is to suppress the impact of disturbance on the regulation error to the given H-infinity norm. The feed-forward controller, as well as the internal model controller for the uncertain system, are presented by means of the linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Simulation results are given to illustrate the analytic results.

Abstract:The design method of robust H-infinity output feedback controller with state variance and regional pole constraints is proposed in this paper for a class of time-varying uncertain systems and a quadratic matrix inequality region. Firstly, a necessary and sufficient condition of regional stable for the closed-loop system is introduced. Secondly, a sufficient condition for the existence of such output feedback controller is derived by means of linear matrix inequality approach. Under the proposed sufficient condition, the closed-loop system is robustly regional stable, possesses H-infinity performance and finite steady state variance when the disturbance is a zero-mean Gaussian white noise process. The gain matrices of the output feedback controller are also constructed by means of the method of matrix decomposition. Finally, a numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed controller designing method.

Abstract:An important question in feedback control design is how to achieve desired performance for dynamical systems subject to both model uncertainties and white noise. For this purpose, it is desirable to develop a systematic design technique that combines the good aspects of both ${\cal H}_2$($LQG$) and ${\cal H}_\infty$ methods, which provides the motivation for the development of multiobjective design framework in this paper. Encouraged by a time domain game approach for ${\cal H}_{2}/{\cal H}_{\infty}$ control design, two multiobjective control design problems are formulated and solved in the time domain. Results for both the finite time horizon and the infinite time horizon are presented. It is shown that all the results can be obtained by solving the corresponding set of coupled Riccati equations.

Abstract:The problem of robust H-infinity control with alpha-stability constraints is discussed for a class of delay singular systems with parametric uncertainties. The singular system under consideration is not assumed to be regular. The problem addressed is to design a state feedback controller such that the closed-loop system is not only regular, impulse free and alpha-stable, but also satisfies a prescribed H-infinity performance condition. Abstract:In this paper, the problem of designing H∞ state‐feedback controllers for switched linear discrete‐time systems with polytopic uncertainties is investigated. Two approaches on designing robust and parameter‐dependent H∞ controllers are proposed and the existence conditions of the desired controllers are derived and formulated in terms of a set of linear matrix inequalities. By solving the corresponding convex optimization problem, the desired controllers are obtained, respectively, and different optimal H∞ noise‐attenuation level bounds of corresponding closed‐loop systems are given as well. The designed controllers have their own advantages and disadvantages regarding the conservatism and realization complexity. An illustrative example emerging in networked control systems (NCS) and numerical simulations are presented to show the applicability and effectiveness of the obtained theoretic results. Abstract:This note investigates the H-infinity control problem for linear continuous- and discrete-time Positive systems, Instead of using algebraic techniques which have been widely employed for the analysis of positive systems, our development is based on matrix inequalities. With the well-established results of Lyapunov stability theory and nonnegative matrix, sufficient conditions are derived for the existence of desired H-infinity state-feedback controllers that guaranteeing the resultant closed-loop system not only to be asymptotically stable and positive, but also has a desired H-infinity performance. Moreover, even for an unstable and non-positive system, the results obtained can be applied to design a desired H-infinity controller such that the closed-loop system not only is stable and positive but also has an H-infinity performance. Since the conditions obtained are expressed as linear matrix inequalities (LMIs), which can be easily verified by using standard numerical software. Numerical examples are provided to illustrate the proposed design scheme.

Abstract:This paper considers the sliding-mode control for nonlinear stochastic systems modeled by Ito stochastic differential equations. It is noted that there exist state and exogenous disturbance-dependent noise in the controlled systems. By utilizing H-infinity disturbance attenuation technique, a novel sliding-mode control method is proposed such that the resultant system is asymptotically stable in probability with a prescribed H-infinity performance. Sufficient conditions for the solvability of these problems are derived via nonlinear Hamilton-Jacobi (HJ)-type inequalities. Moreover, it is shown that for a class of special nonlinear stochastic systems, the H-infinity-sliding-mode control design can be obtained by solving linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Finally, a numerical simulation example is given.

Abstract:This paper studies robust H-infinity control problem for 2-D discrete systems with state delays. Firstly, H-infinity performance of 2-D discrete state-delayed systems in local state-space (LSS) Fomasini-Marchesini (FM) second model is considered. The definition of H-infinity performance is proposed and based on it, we obtain the sufficient conditions described by RDI and LMI, respectively, i.e. Bounded Real Lemma, which assure the stability and H-infinity performance of 2-D state-delayed systems. Then we design a state feedback controller applying the LMI condition, which makes 2-D uncertain state-delayed system have H-infinity performance gamma. Moreover, an optimization problem is proposed to guarantee the minimum H-infinity norm bound gamma and the according controller can be obtained. Finally, a numerical example is given to demonstrate the effectiveness of our results.

Abstract:An LQG (linear quadratic Gaussian) control-design problem involving a constraint on H/sup infinity / disturbance attenuation is considered. The H/sup infinity / performance constraint is embedded within the optimization process by replacing the covariance Lyapunov equation by a Riccati equation whose solution leads to an upper bound on L/sub 2/ performance. In contrast to the pair of separated Riccati equations of standard LQG theory, the H/sup infinity /-constrained gains are given by a coupled system of three modified Riccati equations. The coupling illustrates the breakdown of the separation principle for the H/sup infinity /-constrained problem. Both full- and reduced-order design problems are considered with an H/sup infinity / attenuation constraint involving both state and control variables. An algorithm is developed for the full-order design problem and illustrative numerical results are given.<>

Abstract:This paper considers the <span class="NLM_disp-formula inline-formula"><math> H ∞ </math></span> control problem for a hyperchaotic system with energy-bounded disturbance under the delayed feedback controller. Using the quadratic system theory, an augmented Lyapunov functional, some integral inequalities and rigorous mathematical derivations, a sufficient condition is first established by using linear matrix inequalities under which the closed-loop system can achieve some desirable performances including the boundedness, the <span class="NLM_disp-formula inline-formula"><math> H ∞ </math></span> performance and the asymptotic stability. Subsequently, several convex optimization problems are formulated to obtain the optimal performance indices. Finally, numerical simulations are presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the obtained results.
