Abstract:The process of urbanization in China is speeding up, which brings new challenges to the traditional governance structure. New Regionalism theory provides us a new direction in solving the problem how to reform the governance structure to achieve mutual benefits from the cooperation among the local governments. The differences between traditional Regionalism and New Regionalism are analyzed and discussed in this paper after a brief introduction to New Regionalism. And combined with the present Chinese political environment, this article attempts to throw out suggestions about the implementation of the reform of "province administrating counties directly" at present from the perspective of New Regionalism.
