Abstract:The conventional noninvasive techniques in measuring blood flow rate are calorimetry, thermography, plethysmography, ultrasound, and nuclear magnetic resonance. However, these techniques are very complex and hard to use in clinical measurement. This important clinical measurement has not played a major role in the clinical management of patients. A noninvasive method of measuring the blood flow rate in the cutaneous tissue by heat diffusion between the skin and the metal is described in this paper Heat was used as the indicator; the feature that blood flow was the main medium of heat diffusion in the body was utilized; the temperature of the skin and the temperature change of the metallic heat-conductor were measured; the curve of metal heat-conductor was normalized and integrated; the mean that is related to the blood flow rate was derived from the curve. The. results showed strong correlation between the value and the blood flow rate. The device could quickly realize the measurement of blood flow rate in the cutaneous tissue, and the measuring system was simple and practical.
