Abstract:The stabilization of an enclosed landfill was successfully accelerated by using different concentrations of effective microorganism (EM). The results show that the inner temperature of the landfill was increased by the addition of EM. The maximum temperature can be reached after 72 h of composting. The inner temperature of the compost can be increased to 38 C-0 with 5 kg EM added to per ton of compost. The landfill compost was stabilized with in 12 days, while the biodegradable material (BDM) was reduced from 30% to 5%, indicating that the stabilization of the enclosed landfill was accelerated with the efficient degradation of BDM by using EM.
