Accelerated stabilization of landfill in high latitude area by effective microorganisms

Abstract:The stabilization of an enclosed landfill was successfully accelerated by using dif-ferent concentrations of effective microorganism ( EM ) .The results showed that the inner temperature of the landfill was increased by the addition of EM .The maximum temperature can be reached after 72 h of composting .The inner temperature of the compost can be in-creased to 38 °C with 5 kg EM added to per ton of compost .The landfill compost was stabi-lized with in 12 d, while the biodegradable material ( BDM) was reduced from 30%to 5%, and the organic matter was reduced from 25% to 6%, which indicating the stabilization of the enclosed landfill was accelerated by the efficient degradation of EM .
