Abstract:In order to stimulate rational development and utilization for plant resources of Symplocos,and promote studies and landscape use of Symplocos in China.Based on the brief analysis of originated resources of Symplocos in China,the review of Symplocos research were summarized.The author also discussed the planting design of Symplocos species in landscapes.Symplocos resources and application had not been paid much attention in China.The potential of Symplocos used as urban landscaping plants should be developed,thus could benefit the diversity of landscape and garden plants.

Abstract:This paper reviews literatures on China's urban village in four aspects containing definition,developing mechanism,value judgment and renewal measures. It is argued that neutral attitude should be taken as the logic beginning of policy analysis;an conceptual framework of"Institution-Action"could be used to explain the shaping mechanism of urban village;and in order to formulating synthetically strategies of community governance,the view of livable urban low-quality community should be hold in planning process,and existing institution factors and its related constraints should be well assessed.

Abstract:The garden of Xiling Seal Engraver's Society is the model of Chinese literati garden,is known as the best in the world. The scenery inscriptions in the garden embody the traditional features of Chinese garden. Referring to historical records, this paper analyzes the techniques of scenery inscriptions and the relationship between culture and garden landscape. It reviews the cultural origin and philosophical ideas, as well as the artistic beauty of the garden. By doing so, this paper provides a reference to the scenery inscriptions of modern gardens.

Abstract:Yunnan Province is located on the southwestern border of China and boasts a rich multicultural heritage. In this land full of mystery and vitality, 25 ethnic minorities, including the Yi, Bai, and Dai, have developed their unique languages, scripts, attire, architecture, music, dance, and customs throughout its extensive history (Huang Qinghuai & Guo Zhongping, 2016). Ethnographic observations of Yunnan's ethnic minorities aim to comprehensively understand and reveal various aspects of their history, geography, cultural essence, and interethnic relationships. Ethnographic observation serves as the foundation and methodology of ethnology, systematically collecting, organizing, and analyzing information regarding the traditional cultures, social organizations, and ways of life of Yunnan's ethnic minorities, providing valuable data for future academic research (Ma Jiaxiang et al., 2010).Ethnographic observation unveils the essence and uniqueness of Yunnan's ethnic minority cultures, promoting understanding and respect for multiculturalism, and fostering cultural exchange and integration among different ethnic groups (Li Mingyi et al., 2018). Ultimately, ethnographic observation is crucial for the preservation and inheritance of Yunnan's ethnic minority cultural heritage, contributing to the protection and dissemination of valuable cultural assets and driving sustainable development of the local economy (Wang Hong, 2020).

Abstract:Landscape ecology has achieved great progress since its introduction to China in early 1980s. Based on 619 collections of literatures and 14 collections of books, this paper has all the literatures and books classified, arranged in order and counted on different special subject. According to the results of classified statistics, the authors discuss and analyze how landscape ecology research was going in China during 1990s. Moreover, this paper can also provide scientific basis for those who want to grasp and keep abreast of current focus and trend of landscape ecology in China.

Abstract:In recent years,tea culture has become an essential landscape elements,and it is used in the construction of tea landscape creating. Therefore,refining and fusing tea culture elements,reappearing space system of scene place,can increase tea culture connotation and artistic appeal,ultimately,it endows traditional tea garden with new connotation. This paper takes the ecological tea garden of Yunbao in Da du gang country of Xishuangbanna autonomous prefecture as research target,explores expression and creating of tea garden landscapes from the perspective of the tea culture,and that is significant for constructing tea culture landscape,inheriting history,promoting ecological culture and promoting sustainable development of economy and society of Xishuangbanna,as well as accelerating the construction of ecological tea garden in Yunnan province.

Landscape Narratives of the Garden in Central Guangdong- The Case Study of the Keyuan Garden in the Qing Dynasty

Abstract:The Chinese courtyard space arranges and lays out the physical environment through gardening elements such as architectures, flowers, trees, rocks, water features, and pavings. It is not only a functional place for living and touring, but also a narrative space in which events and activities take place. This research took the Keyuan Garden, one of the four famous gardens in central Guangdong Province as a case study, to describe and analyse the narrative expression of courtyard space from an interdisciplinary perspective which include landscape design, literature and narratology. The Keyuan garden was divided in to three parts: the block narrative space which as paragraphs in garden narrative text, the linear narrative space which as sentences in garden narrative text, and the point narrative space which as vocabulary in garden narrative text. This research pointed out these three narrative spaces, as new language, were composed of different gardening elements, constructing the overall material space, and evoking the viewer's experience, cognition and interpretation of the courtyard space by interpreting the tangible gardening elements. The comprehensive and in-depth interpretation of the Keyuan garden from an multi- perspective will help to understand the art of gardening in central Guangdong in the Qing Dynasty, and provide a reference for inheriting the traditional and excellent construction wisdom today.

Abstract:Classic Chinese garden used to made splendid achievements,but now,the modern Chinese landscape design should be improved urgently.By contrast,the Japanese landscape that used to be deeply influenced by China has created brand new form of landscape represented by dry advanced level.The minimalist garden rose up around 1960s in American,which also has made worldwide influence.By introducing the histories,internal features and influences to modern landscape design of dry landscape and minimalist garden smiply,the article put forward the the similarities of them in design concept and presentation,and through the way how dry landscape and minimalist garden inherit and carry forward the tradition,we hoped it can bring some inspirations to the development of modern landscape design in China.

Abstract:Urban growth in China over the past 40 years has increased sharply. Following a modernist approach during this period, the historic urban cultural landscape was neglected. Recently, in response, scholars have been investigating alternative approaches whose conceptual roots spring from traditional Chinese urban planning. The theory of the 'Science of Human Settlement Environment' has emerged as a framework for exploring this direction. This research, drawing upon literary records, historic city maps, and field investigations, builds on this approach. Yulin City, initially developed as a high-ranking military city during the Ming Dynasty, drew upon the characteristics of the existing landscape and traditional Chinese planning strategies for its design. Noting the relationship of the city's layout to its surrounding Shan-Shui (Mountain-Water), the development of its principal axis, the influence of the Tuo Mountain spiritual space, and the definition of the city wall, greater insight into traditional Chinese planning can be learned.

Abstract:Abstract The traditional village architecture of ethnic minorities is an important carrier to inherit and develop the traditional culture of local minorities, which records the course of the development of minority nationalities in thousands of years. It is the most direct national cultural heritage. With the vigorous implementation of the protection of the material and cultural heritage of the traditional villages and towns in the whole world, the research on the architectural landscape of the traditional minority villages has been strengthened day by day. In this paper, the architectural structure, landscape, development status and protection measures of Zhuang villages in northern Guangxi are analyzed. The research and analysis of Zhuang village architecture in northern Guangxi is of great significance for inheriting and carrying forward the traditional culture of minority nationalities and strengthening the cohesion of the people of all nationalities.

Abstract:It is of great significance to strengthen the research on minority traditional villages and dwellings for maintaining ethnic multicultural ecology and promoting the revitalization of rural culture. In ethnic minority villages and houses the urgency of the research and protection, this paper discusses the cultural geography for the applicability of the ethnic minority villages and residential research, from the cultural ecology, cultural diffusion, regionalization and integration, culture and landscape, space and place, the respect such as comprehensive mechanism illustrates the traditional residence in ethnic minority villages and cultural geography research content and the advantage. This paper probes into the methods of cultural geography to reveal the characteristic cultural connotation of minority traditional villages, which lays a foundation for deepening disciplinary research and protecting minority villages. Taking Yao nationality as an example, this paper puts forward the framework of minority villages and dwellings research, aiming to further promote the breadth and depth of minority villages and dwellings research.

Abstract:Under the influence of consumer culture,"Landscape Description" in Chinese Literature creation has been disappearing on a large scale since the turn of the century.Through the comparisim of the westerners' literary description experience with the one in Chinese current literary creation,we can find out the value of literary description in them and then point out a feasible remedy for the lack of "Landscape Description" in current Chinese literature creation.Firstly,begun with the cultural background of "Landscape Description",the reasons for the disappearance of "Landscape Description" in Chinese literature creation are explained,showing in the meanwhile that it is an indispensable aesthetic element in national culture memory and literary domestic experience.Secondly through identifying the historical evolution and concept domain of "Landscape" in modern Chinese literature,the idea is reached that it shouldn't be ignored in "Landscape Description" that it is the humanistic element resisting material oppression in national culture memory.Thirdly,either romantic or realistic literary creation can't do without patronizing "Landscape Description".Fourthly,the geographical distribution and regional features of "Landscape Description" in Chinese literature are outlined.Finally,the value selection and the prospective future of "Landscape Description" are judged: "Landscape" is not only an intimacy to the nature and the primitive for literature in agricultural society,but also an instinctive reminiscence and aesthetic pursuit of man in modern and post-modern society.

Abstract:Architectural research of different minority settlements in one administrative region is an important part composing of the project,Study on the associated interaction between Regionality and Ethnicity of Architecture in Minority Settlement.Lisu,Nu,Dulong,Tibet Minority Settlements at Nujiang,Yunnan is the typical case of that.And Bingzhongluo is the key region of this field research.Based on the investigation of the dwelling and church,this paper discusses the regional diversity and minority diversity about Bingzhongluo,Nujiang.It analyses the association interaction affected on architectures there between them.The paper reveals the conclusion relation to the subjective affected gene and objective affected gene of minority settlements.

Abstract:With the 'culture turn' and 'spatial turn',the past three decades have witnessed a shift from the 'old' super-organic view of culture to the critical 'new' one in the literature of human geography.This paper examines the three core concepts which are culture,meaning and representation,as well as its background.According to the new cultural geography,culture is not an intrinsic,unified whole,but composes of different practice of representation by different power conflict.Examining meaning is the main purpose of this study.How to interpret meaning in power and social relations becomes the central issue.Representation is what the landscape appears to the human and its multiple forms-the words and images-and scales have become the central topics in the study.Furthermore,the authors classify the epistemologies into five schools.Social Marxism which relies on the art historic iconography regards the landscape as a veil.Its duplicity lies in covering the hidden ideology,and the method including the art historic iconography.Later North American Marxists understands it as an unfinished product in the process of capitalism production and a form of social regulation.Thus,they offered a wider and deeper theory than Cosgrove and Daniels'.Based on linguistic post-structuralism,cultural landscape analyzes as text.Its meaning is created during inter-textual communication.UK-based cultural geographers stress cultures of landscape.In the realm of everyday landscape practices,regulatory processes and cultural discourses,it draws upon Michel Foucault's view of subject and discourse,so landscape can be regarded as shuttle.Feminists and post-colonists criticize landscape studies as a way of seeing and treat it as a gaze upon the land,a dominant way to the Others' world,and the eyes swing between the open rationality and the latent visual pleasure.Furthermore,from the perspective of nationality,landscape also contributes to the communism and the sharing particular landscape and history help to establish collective identity.Within the shifts of the ontology and epistemology,the 'new' cultural geography changes to cultural politics and landscape moves from a naturally given one to a politically contested one.The turn has brought other social scientific and humanistic disciplines into the study of cultural geography and attracted increasingly attention cross the boundary of discipline.
