Abstract:A graph G is 3-domination-critical if its domination number γ is 3 and the addition of any edge decreases γ by 1. Wojcicka conjectured that every 3-domination-critical graph with δ⩾2 has a hamiltonian cycle (J. Graph Theory 14 (1990) 205–215). The conjecture had been proved and its proof consists of two parts: the case α⩽δ+1 (J. Graph Theory 25 (1997) 173–184) and the case α=δ+2 (Discrete Appl. Math. 92 (1999) 57–70). In this paper, we give a new and simple proof of the conjecture by using Hanson's (J. Combin. Math. Combin. Comput. 13 (1993) 121–128) and Bondy-Chvátal's (Discrete Math. 15(1976) 111–135) closure operations.

Abstract:In this paper, we show that every 3-connected claw-free graph such that every induced cycle of length at least 4 has at most 8 edges contained in a triangle is hamiltonian. This implies that every 3-connected $\{K_{1,3}\}\cup \{C_i|i\ge 9\}$-free graph is hamiltonian. We also show that every 3-connected o-heavy graph whose induced cycle of length is at most 8 is hamiltonian and that every 2-connected claw-free graph of longest induced cycle with length at least $n-2$ is hamiltonian. These results are all best possible. As a byproduct, we show that it is NP-complete to determine the length of a longest induced cycle of a line graph.

Abstract:In this paper, we give the following result: Let G be a 2-connected graph of order n ⩾ 13 and n ⩽ 2σ2 − 3, where σ2 = min{d(u) + d(v): uv ∉ E(G)}. If the set of claw-centers of G is independent, then either G is hamiltonian or G belongs to three classes of exceptional graphs. The bound n ⩽ 2σ2 − 3 is sharp.

Abstract:We show that every $3$-connected $\{K_{1,3},\Gamma_3\}$-free graph is Hamilton-connected, where $\Gamma_3$ is the graph obtained by joining two vertex-disjoint triangles with a path of length $3$. This resolves one of the two last open cases in the characterization of pairs of connected forbidden subgraphs implying Hamilton-connectedness. The proof is based on a new closure technique, developed in a previous paper, and on a structural analysis of small subgraphs, cycles and paths in line graphs of multigraphs. Abstract:In 1962, Erdős proved that if a graph $G$ with $n$ vertices satisfies $$ e(G)>\max\left\{\binom{n-k}{2}+k^2,\binom{\lceil(n+1)/2\rceil}{2}+\left\lfloor \frac{n-1}{2}\right\rfloor^2\right\}, $$ where the minimum degree $\delta(G)\geq k$ and $1\leq k\leq(n-1)/2$, then it is Hamiltonian. For $n \geq 2k+1$, let $E^k_n=K_{k}\vee (kK_1+K_{n-2k})$, where "$\vee$" is the "join" operation. One can observe $e(E^k_n)=\binom{n-k}{2}+k^2$ and $E^k_n$ is not Hamiltonian. As $E^k_n$ contains induced claws for $k\geq 2$, a natural question is to characterize all 2-connected claw-free non-Hamiltonian graphs with the largest possible number of edges. We answer this question completely by proving a claw-free analog of Erdős' theorem. Moreover, as byproducts, we establish several tight spectral conditions for a 2-connected claw-free graph to be Hamiltonian. Similar results for the traceability of connected claw-free graphs are also obtained. Our tools include Ryjáček's claw-free closure theory and Brousek's characterization of minimal 2-connected claw-free non-Hamiltonian graphs.

Abstract:Broersma and Veldman proved that every 2-connected claw-free and $P_6$-free graph is hamiltonian. Chen et al. extended this result by proving every 2-connected claw-heavy and $P_6$-free graph is hamiltonian. On the other hand, Li et al. constructed a class of 2-connected graphs which are claw-heavy and $P_6$-\emph{o}-heavy but not hamiltonian. In this paper we further give some Ore-type degree conditions restricting to induced $P_6$'s of a 2-connected claw-heavy graph that can guarantee the graph to be hamiltonian. This improves some previous related results.

Abstract:The connected graph of degree sequence 3,3,3,1,1,1 is called a net, and the vertices of degree 1 in a net is called its endvertices. Broersma conjectured in 1993 that a 2-connected graph G with no induced K_{1,3} is hamiltonian if every endvertex of each induced net of G has degree at least (|V(G)|-2)/3. In this paper we prove this conjecture in the affirmative.

Abstract:Tutte proved that 4-connected planar graphs are Hamiltonian. It is unknown if there is an analogous result on 1-planar graphs. In this paper, we characterize 4-connected 1-planar chordal graphs, and show that all such graphs are Hamiltonian-connected. A crucial tool used in our proof is a characteristic of 1-planar 4-trees.

Abstract:The hamiltonian problem is an important topic in structural graph theory, which is closely related to Four Color Problem. Hence lots of graph scholars are dedicated to this topic. There are many authors working for finding some sufficient conditions for hamiltonian property of graphs. Let G be a claw-free graph with n vertices and δ(G)≥3. In this paper, we show that if G has an induced cycle of length more than (4n – 2δ(G)–4)(δ(G)+2)−1, then G is hamiltonian. The result is best possible if δG is 3 or 4.

Abstract:Let ω ( G ) denote the number of components of a graph G. A connected graph G is said to be 1-tough if ω ( G − X )≤| X | for all X ⊆ V ( G ) with ω ( G − X )>1 . It is well-known that every hamiltonian graph is 1-tough, but that the reverse statement is not true in general, and even not for triangle-free graphs. We present two classes of triangle-free graphs for which the reverse statement holds, i.e., for which hamiltonicity and 1-toughness are equivalent. Our two main results give partial answers to two conjectures due to Nikoghosyan.

Abstract:We introduce a closure technique for Hamilton-connectedness of $\{K_{1,3},\Gamma_3\}$-free graphs, where $\Gamma_3$ is the graph obtained by joining two vertex-disjoint triangles with a path of length $3$. The closure turns a claw-free graph into a line graph of a multigraph while preserving its (non)-Hamilton-connectedness. The most technical parts of the proof are computer-assisted. The main application of the closure is given in a subsequent paper showing that every $3$-connected $\{K_{1,3},\Gamma_3\}$-free graph is Hamilton-connected, thus resolving one of the two last open cases in the characterization of pairs of connected forbidden subgraphs implying Hamilton-connectedness.

Abstract:In 2014, some scholars showed that every 2-connected claw-free graph G with independence number α(G)≤3 is Hamiltonian with one exception of family of graphs. If a nontrivial path contains only internal vertices of degree two and end vertices of degree not two, then we call it a branch. A set S of branches of a graph G is called a branch cut if we delete all edges and internal vertices of branches of S leading to more components than G. We use a branch bond to denote a minimal branch cut. If a branch-bond has an odd number of branches, then it is called odd. In this paper, we shall characterize all 2-connected claw-free graphs G such that every odd branch-bond of G has an edge branch and such that α(G)≤5 but has no 2-factor. We also consider the same problem for those 2-edge-connected claw-free graphs with α(G)≤4.

Abstract:The existence of Hamiltonian cycles in 1-planar graphs with higher connectivity has attracted considerable attention. Recently, the authors and Dong proved that 4-connected 1-planar chordal graphs are Hamiltonian-connected. In this paper, we investigate the non-Hamiltonicity of a broader class of graphs, specifically perfect graphs, under the constraint of 1-planarity, with a focus on connectivity of at most 5. We also propose some unsolved problems.
