Abstract:Using Speicher central limit Theorem we provide Hiai's q-Araki-Woods von Neumann algebras with nice asymptotic matricial models. Then, we use this model and an elaborated ultraproduct procedure, to show that all q-Araki-Woods von Neumann algebras are QWEP.

Abstract:By adapting an ultraproduct technique of Junge and Zeng, we prove that radial completely bounded multipliers on $q$-Gaussian algebras transfer to $q$-Araki-Woods algebras. As a consequence, we establish the $w^{\ast}$-complete metric approximation property for all $q$-Araki-Woods algebras. We apply the latter result to show that the canonical ultraweakly dense C$^\ast$-subalgebras of $q$-Araki-Woods algebras are always QWEP.

Abstract:We compute the conjugate system of twisted Araki-Woods von Neumann algebras $ \mathcal{L}_T(H) $ for a compatible braided crossing symmetric twist $T$ on a finite dimensional Hilbert space $ \mathcal{H} $ with norm $ \|T\| <1$. This implies that those algebras have finite non-microstates free Fisher information and therefore are always factors of type $\text{III}_\lambda$ ($0<\lambda\leq 1$) or $ \text{II}_1 $. Moreover, using the nontracial free monotone transport, we show that $ \mathcal{L}_T(H) $ is isomorphic to the free Araki-Woods algebra $ \mathcal{L}_0(H) $ when $ \|T\|=q $ is small enough.

Abstract:We introduce operator-valued twisted Araki-Woods algebras. These are operator-valued versions of a class of second quantization algebras that includes $q$-Gaussian and $q$-Araki-Woods algebras and also generalize Shlyakhtenko's von Neumann algebras generated by operator-valued semicircular variables. We develop a disintegration theory that reduces the isomorphism type of operator-valued twisted Araki-Woods algebras over type I factors to the scalar-valued case. Moreover, these algebras come with a natural weight, and we characterize its modular theory. We also give sufficient criteria that guarantee that factoriality of these algebras.

Abstract:The main result of this paper is to establish the $\text{weak}^*$ completely metric approximation property ($w^*$-CMAP) for the mixed $q$-deformed Araki-Woods factors for all symmetric matrices with entries $-1< q_{i,j}< 1$, using an ultraproduct embedding of the mixed $q$-deformed Araki-Woods factors.

Abstract:We show that neither the class of C*-algebras with Kirchberg's QWEP property nor the class of W*-probability spaces with the QWEP property are effectively axiomatizable (in the appropriate languages). The latter result follows from a more general result, namely that the hyperfinite III$_1$ factor does not have a computable universal theory in the language of W*-probability spaces. We also prove that the Powers' factors $\mathcal{R}_\lambda$, for $0<\lambda<1$, when equipped with their canonical Powers' states, do not have computable universal theory.

Abstract:This article reviews recent work with Correa da Silva on twisted Araki-Woods algebras, including an introduction to twisted Fock spaces and standard subspaces. We discuss a new family of examples of that framework, coming from the set-theoretic Yang-Baxter equation, and explain the relevance of twisted Araki-Woods algebras in the construction of quantum field theoretic models.

Abstract:We show that all the free Araki-Woods factors $\Gamma(H_\R, U_t)"$ have the complete metric approximation property. Using Ozawa-Popa's techniques, we then prove that every nonamenable subfactor $\mathcal{N} \subset \Gamma(H_\R, U_t)"$ which is the range of a normal conditional expectation has no Cartan subalgebra. We finally deduce that the type ${\rm III_1}$ factors constructed by Connes in the '70s can never be isomorphic to any free Araki-Woods factor, which answers a question of Shlyakhtenko and Vaes.

Abstract:We show that Ozawa's recent results on solid von Neumann algebras imply that there are free Araki-Woods factors, which fail to have free absorption. We also show that a free Araki-Woods factors $\Gamma (\mu, n)$ associated to a measure and a multiplicity function $n$ may non-trivially depend on the multiplicity function.

Abstract:In the general setting of twisted second quantization (including Bose/Fermi second quantization, $S$-symmetric Fock spaces, and full Fock spaces from free probability as special cases), von Neumann algebras on twisted Fock spaces are analyzed. These twisted Araki-Woods algebras $\mathcal{L}_{T}(H)$ depend on the twist operator $T$ and a standard subspace $H$ in the one-particle space. Under a compatibility assumption on $T$ and $H$, it is proven that the Fock vacuum is cyclic and separating for $\mathcal{L}_{T}(H)$ if and only if $T$ satisfies a standard subspace version of crossing symmetry and the Yang-Baxter equation (braid equation). In this case, the Tomita-Takesaki modular data are explicitly determined. Inclusions $\mathcal{L}_{T}(K)\subset\mathcal{L}_{T}(H)$ of twisted Araki-Woods algebras are analyzed in two cases: If the inclusion is half-sided modular and the twist satisfies a norm bound, it is shown to be singular. If the inclusion of underlying standard subspaces $K\subset H$ satisfies an $L^2$-nuclearity condition, $\mathcal{L}_{T}(K)\subset\mathcal{L}_{T}(H)$ has type III relative commutant for suitable twists $T$. Applications of these results to localization of observables in algebraic quantum field theory are discussed.

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce a class of infinite matrices related to the Beurling algebra of periodic functions, and we show that it is an inverse-closed subalgebra of ${\mathcal B}(\ell^q_w)$, the algebra of all bounded linear operators on the weight sequence space $\ell^q_w$, for any $1\le q<\infty$ and any discrete Muckenhoupt $A_q$-weight $w$.

Abstract:Various aspects of the geometric setting of Algebraic Quantum Field Theory (AQFT) models related to representations of the Poincaré group can be studied for general Lie groups, whose Lie algebra contains an Euler element, i.e., ad h is diagonalizable with eigenvalues in {-1,0,1}. This has been explored by the authors and their collaborators during recent years. A key property in this construction is the Bisognano-Wichmann property (thermal property for wedge region algebras) concerning the geometric implementation of modular groups of local algebras. In the present paper we prove that under a natural regularity condition, geometrically implemented modular groups arising from the Bisognano-Wichmann property, are always generated by Euler elements. We also show the converse, namely that in presence of Euler elements and the Bisognano-Wichmann property, regularity and localizability hold in a quite general setting. Lastly we show that, in this generalized AQFT, in the vacuum representation, under analogous assumptions (regularity and Bisognano-Wichmann), the von Neumann algebras associated to wedge regions are type III_1 factors, a property that is well-known in the AQFT context.

Abstract:In the $q^{-1}$-symmetric Askey scheme, namely the $q^{-1}$-Askey--Wilson, continuous dual $q^{-1}$-Hahn, $q^{-1}$-Al-Salam--Chihara, continuous big $q^{-1}$-Hermite and continuous $q^{-1}$-Hermite polynomials, we compute bilateral discrete and continuous orthogonality relations. We also derive a $q$-beta integral which comes from the continuous orthogonality relation for the $q^{-1}$-Askey--Wilson polynomials. In the $q\to 1^{-}$ limit, this $q$-beta integral corresponds to a beta integral of Ramanujan-type which we present and provide two proofs for.

Abstract:A natural family of quantized matrix algebras is introduced. It includes the two best studied such. Located inside Uq(A2n−1), it consists of quadratic algebras with the same Hilbert series as polynomials in n2 variables. We discuss their general properties and investigate some members of the family in great detail with respect to associated varieties, degrees, centers, and symplectic leaves. Finally, the space of rank r matrices becomes a Poisson submanifold, and there is an associated tensor category of rank ⩽r matrices.
Extending Hecke endomorphism algebras at roots of unity

Abstract:The (Iwahori-)Hecke algebra in the title is a $q$-deformation $\sH$ of the group algebra of a finite Weyl group $W$. The algebra $\sH$ has a natural enlargement to an endomorphism algebra $\sA=\End_\sH(\sT)$ where $\sT$ is a $q$-permutation module. In type $A_n$ (i.e., $W\cong {\mathfrak S}_{n+1}$), the algebra $\sA$ is a $q$-Schur algebra which is quasi-hereditary and plays an important role in the modular representation of the finite groups of Lie type. In other types, $\sA$ is not always quasi-hereditary, but the authors conjectured 20 year ago that $\sT$ can be enlarged to an $\sH$-module $\sT^+$ so that $\sA^+=\End_\sH(\sT^+)$ is at least standardly stratified, a weaker condition than being quasi-hereditary, but with "strata" corresponding to Kazhdan-Lusztig two-sided cells. The main result of this paper is a "local" version of this conjecture in the equal parameter case, viewing $\sH$ as defined over ${\mathbb Z}[t,t^{-1}]$, with the localization at a prime ideal generated by a cyclotomic polynomial $\Phi_{2e}(t)$, $e\not=2$. The proof uses the theory of rational Cherednik algebras (also known as RDAHAs) over similar localizations of ${\mathbb C}[t,t^{-1}]$. In future paper, the authors expect to apply these results to prove global versions of the conjecture, at least in the equal parameter case with bad primes excluded.

Abstract:By employing Gauss decomposition, we establish a direct and explicit isomorphism between the twisted $q$-Yangians (in R-matrix presentation) and affine $\imath$quantum groups (in current presentation) associated to symmetric pair of type AI introduced by Molev-Ragoucy-Sorba and Lu-Wang, respectively. As a corollary, we obtain a PBW type basis for affine $\imath$quantum groups of type AI.

Abstract:In this paper we study a certain class of central extensions of preprojective algebras of quivers under the name quiver Heisenberg algebras (QHA). There are several classes of algebras introduced before by different researchers from different view points, which have the QHA as a special case. While these have mainly been studied in characteristic zero, we also study the case of positive characteristic. Our results show that the QHA is closely related to the representation theory of the corresponding path algebra in a similar way to the preprojective algebra.

Abstract:In this paper the authors introduce a new notion called the quantum wreath product, which is the algebra $B \wr_Q \mathcal{H}(d)$ produced from a given algebra $B$, a positive integer $d$, and a choice $Q=(R,S,\rho,\sigma)$ of parameters. Important examples {that arise from our construction} include many variants of the Hecke algebras, such as the Ariki-Koike algebras, the affine Hecke algebras and their degenerate version, Wan-Wang's wreath Hecke algebras, Rosso-Savage's (affine) Frobenius Hecke algebras, Kleshchev-Muth's affine zigzag algebras, and the Hu algebra that quantizes the wreath product $\Sigma_m \wr \Sigma_2$ between symmetric groups. In the first part of the paper, the authors develop a structure theory for the quantum wreath products. Necessary and sufficient conditions for these algebras to afford a basis of suitable size are obtained. Furthermore, a Schur-Weyl duality is established via a splitting lemma and mild assumptions on the base algebra $B$. Our uniform approach encompasses many known results which were proved in a case by case manner. The second part of the paper involves the problem of constructing natural subalgebras of Hecke algebras that arise from wreath products. Moreover, a bar-invariant basis of the Hu algebra via an explicit formula for its extra generator is also described.

Abstract:In this survey we summarize the current state of known orthogonality relations for the $q$ and $q^{-1}$-symmetric and dual subfamilies of the Askey--Wilson polynomials in the $q$-Askey scheme. These polynomials are the continuous dual $q$ and $q^{-1}$-Hahn polynomials, the $q$ and $q^{-1}$-Al-Salam--Chihara polynomials, the continuous big $q$ and $q^{-1}$-Hermite polynomials and the continuous $q$ and $q^{-1}$-Hermite polynomials and their dual counterparts which are connected with the big $q$-Jacobi polynomials, the little $q$-Jacobi polynomials and the $q$ and $q^{-1}$-Bessel polynomials. The $q^{-1}$-symmetric polynomials in the $q$-Askey scheme satisfy an indeterminate moment problem, satisfying an infinite number of orthogonality relations for these polynomials. Among the infinite number of orthogonality relations for the $q^{-1}$-symmetric families, we attempt to summarize those currently known. These fall into several classes, including continuous orthogonality relations and infinite discrete (including bilateral) orthogonality relations. Using symmetric limits, we derive a new infinite discrete orthogonality relation for the continuous big $q^{-1}$-Hermite polynomials. Using duality relations, we explore orthogonality relations for and from the dual families associated with the $q$ and $q^{-1}$-symmetric subfamilies of the Askey--Wilson polynomials. In order to give a complete description of the convergence properties for these polynomials, we provide the large degree asymptotics using the Darboux method for these polynomials. In order to apply the Darboux method, we derive a generating function with two free parameters for the $q^{-1}$-Al-Salam--Chihara polynomials which has natural limits to the lower $q^{-1}$-symmetric families.
