Abstract:In this paper, we prove local existence and uniqueness for the 2D Prandtl-Hartmann regine in weighted Sobolev spaces. Our proof is based on using uniform estimates of the regularized parabolic equation and maximal principle under the Oleinik's monotonicity assumption. Compared with Nash-Moser iteration in \cite{[5]}, the data do not require high regularity.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the 2-D MHD equations with magnetic resistivity but without dissipation on the torus. We prove that if the initial data is small in H~4（T 2 ）, then the 2-D MHD equations are globally well-posed. To our knowledge, this is the first global well-posedness result for this system.

Abstract:In this paper, we prove global existence of solutions with analytic regularity to the 2D MHD boundary layer equations in the mixed Prandtl and Hartmann regime derived by formal multi-scale expansion in \cite{GP}. The analysis shows that the combined effect of the magnetic diffusivity and transveral magnetic field on the boundary leads to a linear damping on the tangential velocity field near the boundary. And this damping effect yields the global in time analytic norm estimate in the tangential space variable on the perturbation of the classical steady Hartmann profile.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the MHD equations with small viscosity and resistivity coefficients, which may be different. This is a typical setting in high temperature plasmas. It was proved that the MHD equations are globally well-posed if the initial velocity is close to 0 and the initial magnetic field is close to a homogeneous magnetic field in the weighted Hölder space, where the closeness is independent of the dissipation coefficients.

Abstract:In this paper, we prove global existence of solutions with Gevrey regularity to the 2D MHD boundary layer equations in the mixed Prandtl and Hartmann regime derived by formal multi-scale expansion in \cite{GP}. Abstract:We study the two-dimensional MHD boundary layer equations. For small perturbation around a tangential background magnetic field, we obtain the global-in-time existence and uniqueness of solutions in Sobolev spaces. The proof relies on the novel combination of the well-explored cancellation mechanism and the idea of linearly-good unknowns, and we use the former idea to deal with the top tangential derivatives and the latter one admitting fast decay rate to control lower-order derivatives.

Abstract:We study an initial-boundary value problem of two-dimensional nonhomogeneous asymmetric fluids with magnetic field and density-dependent viscosity . Applying Desjardins' interpolation inequality and delicate energy estimates, we show the global-in-time existence of a unique strong solution when is properly small. Moreover, we prove that the velocity, the micro-rotational velocity, and the magnetic field converge exponentially to zero in as time goes to infinity.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with the initial–boundary value problem of the 3D primitive equations with only horizontal viscosities and horizontal diffusion. We first establish the local well–posedness result of this system, with the initial data belongs to the anisotropic Sobolev pace H0,s(s>12). Then, under the basic and high-order energy estimates, one can extend the local solution to the global one provided that s>1. The restrictions on the initial data is more weaker than the previous results which are obtained by Cao et al. ((2016) [8] and (2017) [9]), in which the initial data belongs to H2 and H1∩L∞, respectively.

Abstract:This paper establishes the global well‐posedness of strong solutions for the 3D compressible magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) with non‐flat doping profile and Coulomb force, which is of hyperbolic–parabolic–elliptic mixed type. It is essentially shown that for the initial value problem with initial density allowed to contain vacuum states, the strong solution exists globally under small energy but possible large oscillations.

Abstract:In this paper, we are concerned with the magnetic effect on the Sobolev solvability of boundary layer equations for the 2D incompressible MHD system without resistivity. The MHD boundary layer is described by the Prandtl type equations derived from the incompressible viscous MHD system without resistivity under the no-slip boundary condition on the velocity. Assuming that the initial tangential magnetic field does not degenerate, a local-in-time well-posedness in Sobolev spaces is proved without the monotonicity condition on the velocity field. Moreover, we show that if the tangential magnetic field of shear layer is degenerate at one point, then the linearized MHD boundary layer system around the shear layer profile is ill-posed in the Gevrey function space provided that the initial velocity shear flow is non-degenerately critical at the same point.

Abstract:SIAM Journal on Mathematical Analysis, Volume 56, Issue 3, Page 3042-3081, June 2024. We continue our study on the global solution to the two-dimensional Prandtl's system for unsteady boundary layers in the class considered by Oleinik, provided that the pressure is favorable. First, by using a different method from [Z. Xin and L. Zhang, Adv. Math., 181 (2004), pp. 88–133], we gave a direct proof of existence of a global weak solution by a direct BV estimate. Then we prove the uniqueness and continuous dependence on data of such a weak solution to the initial boundary value problem. Finally, we show the smoothness of the weak solutions and then the global existence of smooth solutions.

We showed the global existence and uniqueness (regularity) of strong solutions to the three-dimensional incompressible PEM without any small assumption on the initial data. Abstract:In this paper, we prove the global well-posedness of the Cauchy problem to the 3-D compressible Hall-magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) system supplemented with a class of large initial data in Besov spaces. By exploiting the intrinsic structure of the compressible Hall-MHD equations, we obtain the diffusion and the dispersive effects for the mixed hyperbolic-parabolic system. Based on this important observation, we prove that the compressible Hall-MHD system exists a global solution with the initial data close to a stable equilibrium.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the well-posedness theory of the magneto-micropolar boundary layer and justify the high Reynolds numbers limit for the magneto-micropolar system with Prandtl boundary layer expansion. If the initial tangential magnetic field is nondegenerate, we obtain the local-in-time existence, uniqueness of solutions for the incompressible magneto-micropolar boundary layer equations with the lower regularity initial data in . This work is inspired by the recent progresses by Liu et al. (Commun Pure Appl Math 72(1):63–121, 2019) for 2D MHD boundary layer equations theory in Sobolev spaces without monotonicity. There are some differences between this work and Liu et al. (2019). First, the model has the familar form of the MHD equations but it coupled with the equation of the microrotation field, which essentially describes the motion inside the macrovolume as they undergo mocro-rotational effects represented by the micro-rotational velocity vector. Second, the lack of higher-order boundary condition at is one of the main difficulties to solve the Prandtl type equations. We present a reconstruction argument for higher-order boundary conditions to fix this technical difficulty. Third, our greatest difference is the application of a stratified energy estimates instead of using space-time differential multi-indices as in Liu et al. (2019), so we can work in a functional framework of lower regularity. Our analysis is based on direct Sobolev spaces and allows us to give an estimate on the error by multiscale analysis under the assumption that the kinematic, spin viscosity coefficients and the resistivity coefficient are of the same order and the initial tangential magnetic field on the boundary is not degenerate.
