Abstract:Professor Wucangping, the editor ofBuilding a Moderately Prosperous Society and Coping with Population Ageing Actively puts forward three propositions such as “development”“harmony” and “sharing” to highly summarize the strategic thinking and policy orientation of coping with the ageing of the population actively in our country.The nature of the ageing problem is development, and economic development, social development, cultural development and population development and the development of elderly may promote (positive cycle) or hinder each other(negative cycles).Age covers the meaning of symbols the function, so it can be divided into “symbol age” (calendar age) and the “function age” (condition age).The book has carried on a new discussion of “healthy ageing” and “active ageing”. The inter-generational relations affect signiifcantly the well-being of the elderly. The construction of a harmonious and mutual respectful intergenerational relation is the key meaning of building an ideal society which is “regardless of age, everyone sharing”. Sharing is the basic way to improve the elderly welfare of the elderly.
