Abstract:A network model of parts relationship was designed by applying complex network to the complex mechanical product family structure. As an example, a product family of industry steam turbine was researched. The network for this product family is a small-world with higher clustering and shorter path length and also takes on scale-free. Through analyzing the evolution mechanism of parts relationship network, including original state, growth, local preferential attachment and directed links, an evolution model was presented by combining with the structure characters of the product family. Hierarchy and modularity is the obvious characters of product family structure. The agreement of the simulation results with the empirical analysis showed that this model is reasonable and feasible. The time evolution characteristics of the topology and structure were obtained based on the quantificational analysis about the real networks, namely, periodicity and local similarity. Scale emergence makes the parts relationship network becoming a scale-free network, and the emanative network whose local world is dense and other is sparse is changed gradually on the network structure.
