Zero distance approach to the integration of the national requirements with the undergraduates’foreign language capacity in the perspective of individualized instruction and individual needs

Abstract:According to the newly-published College English Teaching Guidelines,the obj ective of College English Teaching (CET)should be diversified and individualized,and therefore teaching Eng-lish for general purposes,or for academic purposes or for occupation purposes is up to colleges and u-niversities to decide so as to satisfy the various needs of the students to a full extent.But individual-ized instruction differs from individual needs,and the national requirements should be met before the CET curriculum takes individual needs into account.Hence its objective is to equip college students with necessary English language skills to enable them to succeed in their academic studies and future careers so that the prefect integration of the national requirements with the students'foreign language capacity can be guaranteed.
