Abstract:Adopting the panel data of 71 economies around the world from 2006 to 2015, this paper analyzes the influence of intellectual property rights protection on technology import. The result reveals that with regard to the global samples, the impact of intellectual property rights protection on technology import presents an inverted"U"shape. Then this paper studies the samples of developed economies and the developing economies separately and finds that the effect of intellectual property rights protection on technology import is different between them. Specifically, intellectual property rights protection has a positive influence on developing economies' technology import while this relationship for developed economies is not significant. When adopting difference GMM, it is estimated that there is a strong dynamic dependence in technology trade.
