An Empirical Study of Total Factor Energy Efficiency of the Yangtze River economic zone considering the factor of environment

Abstract:After considering the environmental factors,we use DEA-Malmquist index to measure total factor energy efficiency of the Yangtze River economic zone,the study shows that:the total factor energy efficiency of the Yangtze River economic zone has been decreased allover,the decline can be attributed to the decline of technological progress and technology efficiency while the falling technological progress is the main factor.We concluded that the industrial structure has negative effect on energy efficiency and the correlated openness has positive effect on energy efficiency,while the government influence and the energy structure,as well as the energy prices have no significantly impact on energy efficiency.Therefore,we can accelerate industrial upgrading and enhance the level of opening to improve the energy efficiency of the Yangtze River economic zone.
