Abstract:This paper demonstrated the necessity of integrating the information literacy education system by comparing current status of worldwide information literacy education.A theoretical framework from the perspective of integrating information literacy education has been promoted and related learner requirements were detected.In this way,an integrated information literacy education system for higher education has been built up,which regards information literacy teachers,discipline teachers and students as main subject,and regards library,computer literacy training department,teacher training and social training organization as main object.In the end,strategies were promoted from the following perspectives: resource integration,difference response,skills deepening,format expanding and quality assurance.

Abstract:The fusion of learning, information, and technology presents dynamic challenges for all librarians, educators and students in 21st century libraries and schools. At the heart of this fusion is the growth of a pervasive, integrated information environment characterized by vast quantities of digital content, open choice, collaborative and participatory digital spaces, and the transition of the web environments from consumption of information to creation of information. This environment heralds important opportunities for librarians and teachers to rethink, re-imagine and recreate a dynamic approaches to information literacy instruction. Drawing on an extensive body of research undertaken through the Center for International Scholarship in School Libraries (CISSL), and published research on both information literacy and constructivist learning, this paper provides a critical examination of the current status of information literacy: its multiple conceptualizations, competing models, viewpoints, and its operationalizations in educational and library environments. The paper will challenge information literacy practices which center on simplistic, reductionist approaches to information literacy development, and the separation of information process and knowledge content. In particular it will address apparent contradictions in espoused conceptions of information literacy which revolve around "knowledge": knowledge construction, critical thinking, problem solving and the development of knowledgeable people; and information literacy practices which revolve around "information": a predominant focus on skills of access and evaluation of resources and with less attention given to engaging with found information to develop deep knowledge and understanding. The paper will present a series of challenges for moving forward with information literacy agendas in libraries and schools.

Abstract:With the rapid development of computer technology and network technology, more and more importance is attached to the cultivation of students' information literacy education in the course of basic computer teaching in Chinese universities. In the article considering the deficiency of cultivating students' information literacy education in the basic computer education, with my own teaching experience combined, it is illustrated that information literacy education plays an significant role in the construction of curriculum, which should be mingled with the whole curriculum course education. Further optimization and adjustment should be carried out in the course setting and greater importance should be attached to enhancing the teachers' information literacy. By actively creating a good information environment, an effective information literacy education mode can be established.

Abstract:In an era of information explosion, improving information literacy for academical innovation is essential for postgraduate students. However, the majority of these students lack information literacy knowledge, and even a few lack access to related courses. To improve the ratio and level of the information literacy of postgraduate students, we design a novel framework for general information literacy. It consists of four parts, namely, teaching process, methods, abilities, and applications. The methods part of the framework includes questionnaire, intensive teaching, embedded pedagogy, and free sharing. They provide support for the teaching process and abilities improvement. Notably, postgraduate students’ abilities are expected to be enhanced, namely, learning(using search engines to enhance search quotient), academic research (conducting literature search, analysis, and assessment), and innovation (evaluating innovation and managing information). These abilities are applicable to academic research, internship, and academic competitions, among others. Moreover, we design a questionnaire to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed framework. The statistical results demonstrate that the information literacy of postgraduate students maintained an upward trend, and the course was evaluated with a high level of satisfaction.

Abstract:With huge amount of information emerging every day, it brings challenges to advanced undergraduate students and junior postgraduate students. Actually, those students have different levels of information literacy due to the diversity of students' backgrounds. To improve students' information literacy, this paper designs a course, which puts it into practice by a class of software engineering major. The course structure consists of three parts that aims to improve students' three abilities: learning ability, academic research ability, and innovation ability. For learning ability, multiple usages of searching engines are added to help develop their search quotient. For academic research ability, how to search in many databases and how to manage the literatures are important issues. For innovation ability, how to evaluate innovations and how to manage one's inspirations are included. These three abilities are trained by project assignment that is required in a limited time. A questionnaire is carried out to obtain the feedbacks of participants. The results shed light on that the design of our course achieves good results with high satisfaction degree. It shows that the proposed course structure is very welcome and it has promising applications in other majors.
