Paradigm Shift and Influence Mechanism of College Curriculum

Abstract:The college curriculum is influenced by the sociocultural context,institutional-level influ-ences,and learners.Based on a discussion of the paradigm shift and controversial issues in the Chinese college curriculum and using data from a college student survey,this study explored the structural char-acteristics and influence mechanism of the college curriculum.The results suggested three important di-mensions of the college curriculum:practical orientation,wide and deep orientation,and basic orienta-tion.The study also found that the selectivity and teaching resources of an institution and the learning motivation of its students have significant influences on the college curriculum.
