Abstract:As an important and traditional conception in the field of psychology, the definition of self-conceptvaries from theory to theory. This conception can be understood more clearly from the view point of social comparison theory, temporal comparison theory, and dimensional comparison theory. Both the self-concept’s developmental trends across different ages and the Big-Fish-Small-Pond Effects emphasize that the formation of the self-concept can be recognized well from the perspective of constructivism.
