Dissolving the Efforts of the Opposition Between Ideal and Material -- the Rethinking of Zhu Guangqian's Aesthetics

Abstract:Traditional western aesthetics is particular about two devidings — Ideal and Material, different sects of aesthetic in different historical eras laid emphasis on pursuing the relation between Ideal and Material as well as how Ideal reflects Material, till the twentieth century, did western aesthetic community form general attention to the tendency of the mixture between Ideal and Material. Zhu Guangqian was engaged in dissolving the opposition of Ideal and Material, and made efforts to look for the truth of aesthetic on their mixing agreement, however, in special historical period in China, his efforts — the periodical appearance in his aesthetic ideology, first had a profound respect for Instinct of Images, then pursued beauty and the sense of beauty from the Ideological Theory, at last, established the aesthetic proposition which subjective should be integrated with objective on the basis of the theory of Marxist Practice — with a distinct historical trace, but he still didnt give up his pursuing. Nowadays, when modern western aesthetes are making every effort to seek the aesthetic issues on subject and object, existence and appearance, sense and comprehension, it will derive lots of new inspiration to re-read Zhu Guangqians aesthetic ideology.
