Abstract:Bird community is an important environmental index, and the conservation of urban birds is also an important component of natural conservation and ecological construction of a city. During Oct,1997 to Dec,1998, the species number and abundance of the bird communities among 20 woodlots in Hangzhou city area were surveyed one or two times every month according to different seasons. 82 species were record. Among them, 50 were migrant, accounting for 61% of total avifauna and 32 permanent residents, accounting for 39%. The bird community structure and seasonal variation were analyzed. The results showed that the bird community structures changed greatly between seasons. The species number and abundance in all woodlots appeared two peaks in spring and autumn, the lowest in summer. According to individual woodlot, the species number of bird community in most of woodlots got the peak in winter. The abundance of bird in each woodlot fluctuated between seasons.
