Abstract:Arbor species diversity along an urban-rural gradient was investigated in Hangzhou City,Zhejiang Province.The results showed that the species richness at the rural and the suburban area was very low,which was less than 10 species,while at the urban area,there was much higher biodiversity,the arbor species richness was up to 20 species,which was about 2 times of that at the rural area.Species richness index showed that the urban area had the most rich species,species richness index was up to 4.343,the suburban area had the least richness index of 1.303,while in the rural area it was between 2~3.The tendency of Shannon-Weiner index was the same as species richness index.However,there was no significant order of Pielou index and Simpson index among the urban,suburban and rural areas.
