Abstract:The unified necessary and sufficient optimality conditions for weakly and strongly minimal elements in preinvex set-valued optimization are given respectively. Thus the corresponding results concerning convex set-valued optimization are generalized.

Abstract:The aim of this paper is to explore the stability of (weak)-minimal solutions for set-valued optimization problems via improvement sets. Firstly, the optimality and closedness of solution sets for the set-valued optimization problem under the upper order relation are discussed. Then, a new convergence concept for set-valued mapping sequences is introduced, and some properties of the set-valued mapping sequences are shown under the new convergence assumption. Moreover, by means of upper level sets, Painlevé-Kuratowski convergences of (weak) E - u -solutions to set-valued optimization problems with respect to the perturbations of feasible sets and objective mappings are established under mild conditions. The order that we use to establish the result depends on the improvement set, which is not necessarily a cone order. Our results can be seen as the extension of the related work established recently in this field.

Abstract:In this paper, we extend the concepts of linearizing cone, regularity assumption and Lagrange multiplier rule due to Maurer and Zowe [H. Maurer, J. Zowe, First and second-order necessary and sufficient optimality conditions for infinite-dimensional programming problems, Math. Program. 16 (1979) 98–110] to an optimization problem under inclusion constraints. By virtue of the Robinson–Ursescu open mapping theorem, we obtain a Kuhn–Tucker necessary optimality condition. Moreover, we propose a Lagrangian by using the support function for set-valued maps, and establish some second-order sufficient and necessary optimality conditions for a strict local minimizer of order 2 based on the second-order derivative of the Lagrangian. As applications, we also investigate some second-order optimality conditions for the strict local minimizer of order 2 of a smooth scalar optimization problem with equality and inequality constraints.

Abstract:This paper aims at investigating the contractibility of the solution sets for set optimization problems by utilizing strictly quasi cone-convexlikeness, which is an assumption weaker than strictly cone-convexity, strictly cone-quasiconvexity and strictly naturally quasi cone-convexity. We establish the contractibility of l-minimal, l-weak minimal, u-minimal and u-weak minimal solution sets for set optimization problems by using the star-shape sets and the nonlinear scalarizing functions for sets. Moreover, we also discuss the arcwise connectedness and the contractibility of p-minimal and p-weak minimal solution sets for set optimization problems by using the scalarization technique. Finally, our main results are applied to the contractibility of the solution sets for vector optimization problems.

We prove the equivalencies of some definitions of generalized convex maps introduced by Jeyakumar, Yang, Yang & Yang & Chen, as well as Zeng. And then, we discuss the conditions of weakly efficient solutions, proper efficient solutions, and optimal solutions of set-valued optimization problems.

Abstract:Kuhn-Tucker optimality conditions for the set-valued optimization problem (VP) with constraints are considered in the sense of strongly efficient solutions in locally convex spaces. Under the assumption of nearly cone-subconvexlikeness, by applying alternative theorem, a Kuhn-Tucker optimality necessary condition for (VP) is derived. By using the properties of base functional, a sufficient condition is also obtained. Finally, a kind of unconstrained program equivalent to (VP) is established.

Abstract:As the development of a family of preinvex functions, we define the w -invex set and a class of real functions. These are functions with the names w -preinvex, w -strictly preinvex, w -prequasi-invex, w -strictly prequasi-invex, w -semi-strictly prequasi-invex, and w -pre-pseudo-invex. The fundamental characteristics of these functions are thoroughly examined. Several examples are provided here that serve to clarify the concept in this context. Several of these preinvex functions are addressed to investigate the optimization problems further.

Abstract:The aim of this paper is to investigate the Painlevé-Kuratowski convergence and the extended well-posedness of a set optimization problem with respect to the both perturbations of the order cone and the feasible set. Firstly, we introduce the concepts of the approximate minimal solutions for the set optimization problem with set order relations involving the Minkowski difference. Some properties, in particular, the density and the nonlinear scalarization result of approximate minimal solutions and approximate weak minimal solutions, are presented. In addition, based on the density theorem and some appropriate assumptions, we establish the Painlevé-Kuratowski convergence of the approximate solution sets of the set optimization problem with respect to the both perturbations of the order cone and the feasible set. We also discuss the extended well-posedness and weak extended well-posedness for the set optimization problem with respect to the both perturbations of the order cone and the feasible set. Finally, we put forward the equivalence between the weak extended well-posedness for the set optimization problem and the generalized well-posendess of a scalar optimization problem.

Abstract:In the present paper, we study the characterization issue of the weak sharp minima properties for convex infinite optimization problems in normed linear spaces. We develop a new approach to establish several complete geometric characterizations for the global/bounded/local weak sharp minima property, which extend/improve the corresponding ones in this direction by removing/relaxing the key topological assumptions made on the index set. As by-products, some complete characterizations of the global/bounded/local weak sharp minima are obtained for a subset of the level set of a given convex function (not necessarily the level set itself) in terms of the normal cones and the subdifferentials of the involved convex subset and convex function. These characterization results are of independent interest in extending/improving the existing ones on characterizing the weak sharp minima for convex optimization problems.

Abstract:The optimization problem concerning the determination of the minimizer for the sum of convex functions holds significant importance in the realm of distributed and decentralized optimization. In scenarios where full knowledge of the functions is not available, limiting information to individual minimizers and convexity parameters -- either due to privacy concerns or the nature of solution analysis -- necessitates an exploration of the region encompassing potential minimizers based solely on these known quantities. The characterization of this region becomes notably intricate when dealing with multivariate strongly convex functions compared to the univariate case. This paper contributes outer and inner approximations for the region harboring the minimizer of the sum of two strongly convex functions, given a constraint on the norm of the gradient at the minimizer of the sum. Notably, we explicitly delineate the boundaries and interiors of both the outer and inner approximations. Intriguingly, the boundaries as well as the interiors turn out to be identical. Furthermore, we establish that the boundary of the region containing potential minimizers aligns with that of the outer and inner approximations.

Marginal Analysis of Convex Optimization Problems with Set-Valued Inclusion Constraints

Abstract:In this paper, stability and sensitivity properties of a class of parametric constrained optimization problem, whose feasible region is defined by a set-valued inclusion, are investigated through the associated optimal value function. Set-valued inclusions are a kind of constraint system, which naturally emerges in contexts requiring the robust fulfilment of traditional cone constraints, where data are affected by uncertain elements having a non stochastic nature, or in (MPEC) as a vector equilibrium constraint, where feasible solutions are intended as equilibrium point in a strong sense. Under proper convexity assumptions on the objective function and the constraining set-valued term, combined with a global qualification condition, a class of parametric optimization problems is singled out, which displays a global Lipschitz behaviour. By employing recent results of variational analysis, elements for a sensitivity analysis of this class of problems are provided via exact subgradient formulae for the optimal value function. Further consequences of the stability behaviour are explored in terms of problem calmness and viability of penalization techniques.

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce two kinds of Hadamard well-posedness for a set optimization problem by taking into consideration perturbations of objective function and a relationship between these two well-posedness is derived. Using the generalized Gerstewitz function, a sequence of scalar optimization problems have been defined and a convergence result is obtained. Sufficient conditions for Hadamard well-posedness for the set optimization problem are established by invoking these scalarization results. Finally, the stability of the convergence of minimal solution sets of the set optimization problem considered is discussed in terms of Painlevé-Kuratowski convergence.

Abstract:A key idea in convex optimization theory is to use well-structured affine functions to approximate general functions, leading to impactful developments in conjugate functions and convex duality theory. This raises the question: what are the minimal requirements to establish these results? This paper aims to address this inquiry through a carefully crafted system called the convexoid. We demonstrate that fundamental constructs, such as conjugate functions and subdifferentials, along with their relationships, can be derived within this minimal system. Building on this, we define the associated duality systems and develop conditions for weak and strong duality, generalizing the classic results of conjugate duality theory. Due to its simplicity, our framework supports various approximation schemes, including approximating general functions using symmetric-conic, bilinear, or piecewise constant functions, and representing general structures such as graphs, set systems, fuzzy sets, or toposes using special membership functions. The associated duality results for these systems also open new opportunities for establishing bounds on objective values and verifying structural properties.
