Abstract:This paper is part of a research project on relations between differential-difference matrix Lax representations (MLRs) with the action of gauge transformations and discrete Miura-type transformations (MTs) for (nonlinear) integrable differential-difference equations. The paper addresses the following problem: when and how can one eliminate some shifts of dependent variables from the discrete (difference) part of an MLR by means of gauge transformations? Using results on this problem, we present applications to constructing new MLRs and new integrable equations connected by new MTs to known equations. In particular, we obtain results of this kind for equations connected to the following ones: - The two-component Belov--Chaltikian lattice. - The equation (introduced by G. Mari Beffa and Jing Ping Wang) which describes the evolution induced on invariants by an invariant evolution of planar polygons. - An equation from [S. Igonin, <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2405.08579" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2405.08579">arXiv:2405.08579</a>] related to the Toda lattice in the Flaschka--Manakov coordinates.

On a method for constructing the Lax pairs for nonlinear integrable equations

Abstract:We suggest a direct algorithm for searching the Lax pairs for nonlinear integrable equations. It is effective for both continuous and discrete models. The first operator of the Lax pair corresponding to a given nonlinear equation is found immediately, coinciding with the linearization of the considered nonlinear equation. The second one is obtained as an invariant manifold to the linearized equation. A surprisingly simple relation between the second operator of the Lax pair and the recursion operator is discussed: the recursion operator can immediately be found from the Lax pair. Examples considered in the article are convincing evidence that the found Lax pairs differ from the classical ones. The examples also show that the suggested objects are true Lax pairs which allow the construction of infinite series of conservation laws and hierarchies of higher symmetries. In the case of the hyperbolic type partial differential equation our algorithm is slightly modified; in order to construct the Lax pairs from the invariant manifolds we use the cutting off conditions for the corresponding infinite Laplace sequence. The efficiency of the method is illustrated by application to some equations given in the Svinolupov–Sokolov classification list for which the Lax pairs and the recursion operators have not been found earlier.

Abstract:Reviews in Mathematical Physics, Ahead of Print. In this paper, we study the factorization formulae for the Lax matrices of the classical Ruijsenaars–Schneider and Calogero–Moser models. We review the already known results and discuss their possible origins. The first origin comes from the IRF-Vertex relations and the properties of the intertwining matrices. The second origin is based on the Schlesinger transformations generated by modifications of underlying vector bundles. We show that both approaches provide explicit formulae for [math]-matrices of the integrable systems in terms of the intertwining matrices (and/or modification matrices). In the end, we discuss the Calogero–Moser models related to classical root systems. The factorization formulae are proposed for a number of special cases.

Simplifications of Lax pairs for differential-difference equations by gauge transformations and (doubly) modified integrable equations

Abstract:Matrix differential-difference Lax pairs play an essential role in the theory of integrable nonlinear differential-difference equations. We present sufficient conditions which allow one to simplify such a Lax pair by matrix gauge transformations. Furthermore, we describe a procedure for such a simplification and present applications of it to constructing new integrable equations connected by (non-invertible) discrete substitutions of Miura type to known equations with Lax pairs. Suppose that one has three (possibly multicomponent) equations $E$, $E_1$, $E_2$, a (Miura-type) discrete substitution from $E_1$ to $E$, and a discrete substitution from $E_2$ to $E_1$. Then $E_1$ and $E_2$ can be called a modified version of $E$ and a doubly modified version of $E$, respectively. We demonstrate how the above-mentioned procedure helps (in the considered examples) to construct modified and doubly modified versions of a given equation possessing a Lax pair satisfying certain conditions. The considered examples include scalar equations of Itoh-Narita-Bogoyavlensky type and $2$-component equations related to the Toda lattice. We present several new integrable equations connected by new discrete substitutions of Miura type to known equations.

Abstract:For the 1+1 dimensional Lax pair with a symplectic symmetry and cyclic symmetries, it is shown that there is a natural finite dimensional Hamiltonian system related to it by presenting a unified Lax matrix. The Liouville integrability of the derived finite dimensional Hamiltonian systems is proved in a unified way. Any solution of these Hamiltonian systems gives a solution of the original PDE. As an application, the two dimensional hyperbolic $C_n^{(1)}$ Toda equation is considered and the finite dimensional integrable Hamiltonian system related to it is obtained from the general results.
Lax random matrices from Calogero systems

Abstract:We study a class of random matrices arising from the Lax matrix structure of classical integrable systems, particularly the Calogero family of models. Our focus is the density of eigenvalues for these random matrices. The problem can be mapped to analyzing the density of eigenvalues for generalized versions of conventional random matrix ensembles, including a modified form of the log-gas. The mapping comes from the underlying integrable structure of these models. Such deep connection is confirmed by extensive Monte-Carlo simulations. Thereby we move forward not only in terms of understanding such class of random matrices arising from integrable many-body systems, but also by providing a building block for the generalized hydrodynamic description of integrable systems.

Abstract:Three families of dynamical r-matrices are explicitly constructed by means of constrained flows of nonlinear evolution equations (NLEE) associated with polynomial second-order spectral problems. The dynamical classical Yang–Baxter equations for the three linear r-matrix algebras are presented with explicit expression for the extra term. The separation variables and the Jacobi inversion problems for the x- and tn-constrained flow of the NLEEs are found. The factorization of NLEE allows us to obtain the Jacobi inversion problem for the NLEE by combining the above two Jacobi inversion problems. This provides a method of separation of variables to solve the NLEEs.

Abstract:We consider the Painleve asymptotics for a solution of integrable coupled Hirota equationwith a 3*3 Lax pair whose initial data decay rapidly at infinity. Using Riemann-Hilbert techniques and Deift-Zhou nonlinear steepest descent arguments, in a transition zone defined by /x/t-1/(12a)/t^2/3<=C, where C>0 is a constant, it turns out that the leading-order term to the solution can be expressed in terms of the solution of a coupled Painleve II equation associated with a 3*3 matrix Riemann-Hilbert problem.

Abstract:The purpose of this paper is to establish a connection between various objects such as dynamical r-matrices, Lie bialgebroids, and Lagrangian subalgebras. Our method relies on the theory of Dirac structures and Courant algebroids. In particular, we give a new method of classifying dynamical r-matrices of simple Lie algebras g, and prove that dynamical r-matrices are in one-one correspondence with certain Lagrangian subalgebras of g circle plus g.

Abstract:A new isospectral problem and the corresponding hierarchy of nonlinear evolution equations is presented. As a reduction, the well-known MKdV equation is obtained. It is shown that the hierarchy of equations is integrable in Liouville's sense and possesses Bi-Hamiltonian structure. Under the constraint between the potentials and eigenfunctions, the eigenvalue problem can be nonlinearized as a finite dimensional completely integrable system.
On the field analogue of elliptic spin Calogero-Moser model: Lax pair and equations of motion

Abstract:The Lax pair for the field analogue of the classical spin elliptic Calogero-Moser is proposed. Namely, using the previously known Lax matrix we suggest an ansatz for the accompany matrix. The presented construction is valid when the matrix of spin variables ${\mathcal S}\in{\rm Mat}(N,\mathbb C)$ satisfies the condition ${\mathcal S}^2=c_0{\mathcal S}$ with some constant $c_0\in\mathbb C$. It is proved that the Lax pair satisfies the Zakharov-Shabat equation with unwanted term, thus providing equations of motion on the unreduced phase space. The unwanted term vanishes after additional reduction. In the special case ${\rm rank}(\mathcal S)=1$ we show that the reduction provides the Lax pair of the spinless field Calogero-Moser model obtained earlier by Akhmetshin, Krichever and Volvovski.

Abstract:It is shown that the Zakharov-Mihailov (ZM) Lagrangian structure for integrable nonlinear equations derived from a general class of Lax pairs possesses a Lagrangian multiform structure. We show that, as a consequence of this multiform structure, we can formulate a variational principle for the Lax pair itself, a problem that to our knowledge was never previously considered. As an example, we present an integrable $N\times N$ matrix system that contains the AKNS hierarchy, and we exhibit the Lagrangian multiform structure of the scalar AKNS hierarchy by presenting the components corresponding to the first three flows of the hierarchy.

Poisson structures of some heavenly type dynamical systems

Abstract:The paper investigates the Poisson structures associated with dynamical systems of the heavenly type, focusing on the Mikhalev-Pavlov and Plebański equation. The dynamical system is represented as a Hamiltonian system on a functional manifold, and Poisson brackets are defined based on a non-degenerate Poisson operator. The study explores the Lax-type integrability and bi-Hamiltonian properties of the systems, revealing the existence of compatible Poisson operators. The Lie-algebraic approach, particularly the AKS-algebraic and $\mathcal{R}$-structure schemes, is employed to analyze the holomorphic loop Lie algebra, providing insights into the Lie-algebraic structure of heavenly equations. The Mikhalev-Pavlov and Plebański equations are studied in detail, and the associated Poisson brackets for specific coordinate functions are derived, revealing interesting mathematical properties. The paper establishes a foundation for understanding the symplectic structures associated with heavenly-type dynamical systems.

Abstract:We investigate the Langevin dynamics of various lattice formulations of the Yang-Mills-Higgs model, where the Higgs component takes values in $\mathbb{R}^N$, $\mathbb{S}^{N-1}$ or a Lie group. We prove the exponential ergodicity of the dynamics on the whole lattice via functional inequalities. As an application, we establish that correlations for a broad range of observables decay exponentially. Specifically, the infinite volume measure exhibits a strictly positive mass gap under strong coupling conditions. Moreover, appropriately rescaled observables exhibit factorized correlations in the large $N$ limit when the state space is compact. Our approach involves disintegration and a nuanced analysis of correlations to effectively control the unbounded Higgs component.

Abstract:Under investigation in this paper is a discrete modified exponential Toda lattice equation which may describe vibration of particles in a lattice. Firstly, we construct an integrable lattice hierarchy associated with this equation from a $2\times 2$ matrix spectral problem, and some related integrable properties such as Hamiltonian structures, Liouville integrability and conservation laws of this hierarchy are discussed. Secondly, we present the discrete generalized $(m, N-m)$-fold Darboux transformation of the modified exponential Toda lattice equation on the basis of its known Lax representation. As applications of the obtained discrete generalized Darboux transformation, multi-kink-soliton solutions on an exponential surface background and an inclined plane background are obtained when $m=2N$, the discrete rational and semi-rational solutions are derived when $m=1$, and the mixed solutions of usual soliton solutions and rational solutions are given when $m=2$. Based on the asymptotic and graphic analysis, soliton elastic interaction phenomena and limit states related to rational solutions are discussed and analyzed. Furthermore, some mathematical features of rational solutions are summarized. Finally, numerical simulations are used to explore the dynamical behaviors of such soliton solutions which show the soliton evolutions are robust against a small noise. These results and properties given in this paper might be useful for understanding nonlinear lattice dynamics.

Abstract:Lagrangian multiforms provide a variational framework to describe integrable hierarchies. The case of Lagrangian 1-forms covers finite-dimensional integrable systems. We use the theory of Lie dialgebras introduced by Semenov-Tian-Shansky to construct a Lagrangian 1-form. Given a Lie dialgebra associated with a Lie algebra and a collection , , of invariant functions on , we give a formula for a Lagrangian multiform describing the commuting flows for on a coadjoint orbit in . We show that the Euler–Lagrange equations for our multiform produce the set of compatible equations in Lax form associated with the underlying r -matrix of the Lie dialgebra. We establish a structural result which relates the closure relation for our multiform to the Poisson involutivity of the Hamiltonians and the so-called double zero on the Euler–Lagrange equations. The construction is extended to a general coadjoint orbit by using reduction from the free motion of the cotangent bundle of a Lie group. We illustrate the dialgebra construction of a Lagrangian multiform with the open Toda chain and the rational Gaudin model. The open Toda chain is built using two different Lie dialgebra structures on . The first one possesses a non-skew-symmetric r -matrix and falls within the Adler–Kostant–Symes scheme. The second one possesses a skew-symmetric r -matrix. In both cases, the connection with the well-known descriptions of the chain in Flaschka and canonical coordinates is provided.

Abstract:In this article, a (3+1)-dimensional Boiti–Leon–Manna–Pempinelli equation is studied, which is an extended shallow water wave model in the higher dimensions. Firstly, the bilinear form of the equation, bilinear Bäcklund transformation, Lax pair and infinite conservation laws are derived using the symbolic calculation system and Bell polynomial method, and it is proved that the equation is completely integrable in the sense of Lax pair. Secondly, the nonlinear superposition formula of the equation is constructed using the obtained bilinear Bäcklund transformation, and some infinite superposition soliton solutions of the equation are also constructed based on the nonlinear superposition formula. Finally, based on the obtained bilinear equation, infinite superposition solutions of different types of functions are constructed, and the solutions images are drawn to analyze their dynamic characteristics. It is worth mentioning that this paper not only obtains a large number of properties based on the Bell polynomial method, but also derives infinite linear superposition solutions and nonlinear superposition solutions of the equation, making the solutions more diverse and diverse. These contents have not been studied in previous literatures.
