Abstract:This paper is part of a research project on relations between differential-difference matrix Lax representations (MLRs) with the action of gauge transformations and discrete Miura-type transformations (MTs) for (nonlinear) integrable differential-difference equations. The paper addresses the following problem: when and how can one eliminate some shifts of dependent variables from the discrete (difference) part of an MLR by means of gauge transformations? Using results on this problem, we present applications to constructing new MLRs and new integrable equations connected by new MTs to known equations. In particular, we obtain results of this kind for equations connected to the following ones: - The two-component Belov--Chaltikian lattice. - The equation (introduced by G. Mari Beffa and Jing Ping Wang) which describes the evolution induced on invariants by an invariant evolution of planar polygons. - An equation from [S. Igonin, <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2405.08579" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2405.08579">arXiv:2405.08579</a>] related to the Toda lattice in the Flaschka--Manakov coordinates.

Simplifications of Lax pairs for differential-difference equations by gauge transformations and (doubly) modified integrable equations

Abstract:Matrix differential-difference Lax pairs play an essential role in the theory of integrable nonlinear differential-difference equations. We present sufficient conditions which allow one to simplify such a Lax pair by matrix gauge transformations. Furthermore, we describe a procedure for such a simplification and present applications of it to constructing new integrable equations connected by (non-invertible) discrete substitutions of Miura type to known equations with Lax pairs. Suppose that one has three (possibly multicomponent) equations $E$, $E_1$, $E_2$, a (Miura-type) discrete substitution from $E_1$ to $E$, and a discrete substitution from $E_2$ to $E_1$. Then $E_1$ and $E_2$ can be called a modified version of $E$ and a doubly modified version of $E$, respectively. We demonstrate how the above-mentioned procedure helps (in the considered examples) to construct modified and doubly modified versions of a given equation possessing a Lax pair satisfying certain conditions. The considered examples include scalar equations of Itoh-Narita-Bogoyavlensky type and $2$-component equations related to the Toda lattice. We present several new integrable equations connected by new discrete substitutions of Miura type to known equations.

Abstract:The article studies a class of integrable semidiscrete equations with one continuous and two discrete independent variables. Miura type transformations are obtained that relate the equations of the class. A new integrable chain of this type is found, for which the Lax pair is presented. Integrable in the sense of Darboux reductions of the chain are discussed, for small order reductions complete sets of integrals are constructed. Continuum limits for the chain are discussed. A method for finding particular solutions of chains based on integrable in sense of Darboux reductions is proposed. The effectiveness of the method is illustrated by an example.

Abstract:It is shown that the Zakharov-Mihailov (ZM) Lagrangian structure for integrable nonlinear equations derived from a general class of Lax pairs possesses a Lagrangian multiform structure. We show that, as a consequence of this multiform structure, we can formulate a variational principle for the Lax pair itself, a problem that to our knowledge was never previously considered. As an example, we present an integrable $N\times N$ matrix system that contains the AKNS hierarchy, and we exhibit the Lagrangian multiform structure of the scalar AKNS hierarchy by presenting the components corresponding to the first three flows of the hierarchy.

Abstract:In this paper, we present multi parametric quadgraph equations which are consistent around the cube. These equations are obtained by applying a `double twist' to known integrable equations. Furthermore, we perform a limit to one of these equations to derive the non-symmetric equation which is given by Hietarinta and Viallet. As a result, we obtain a novel Lax pair of this equation.

Abstract:We explore the relationship between lattice field theory and graph theory, placing special emphasis on the interplay between Dirac and scalar lattice operators and matrices within the realm of spectral graph theory. Beyond delving into fundamental concepts of spectral graph theory, such as adjacency and Laplacian matrices, we introduce a novel matrix named as "anti-symmetrized adjacency matrix", specifically tailored for cycle digraphs ($T^1$ lattice) and simple directed paths ($B^1$ lattice). The nontrivial relation between graph theory matrices and lattice operators shows that the graph Laplacian matrix mirrors the lattice scalar operator and the Wilson term in lattice fermions, while the anti-symmetrized adjacency matrix, along with its extensions to higher dimensions, are equivalent to naive lattice Dirac operators. Building upon these connections, we provide rigorous proofs for two key assertions: (i) The count of zero-modes in a free lattice scalar operator coincides with the zeroth Betti number of the underlying graph (lattice). (ii) The maximum count of Dirac zero-modes in a free lattice fermion operator is equivalent to the cumulative sum of all Betti numbers when the $D$-dimensional graph results from a cartesian product of cycle digraphs ($T^1$ lattice) and simple directed paths ($B^1$ lattice).

Abstract:We find the twisted extensions of the symmetry algebra of the 2D Euler equation in the vorticity form and use them to construct new Lax representation for this equation. Then we generalize this result by considering the transformation Lie--Rinehart algebras generated by finite-dimensional subalgebras of the symmetry algebra and derive a family of Lax representations for the Euler equation. The family depends on functional parameters and contains a non-removable spectral parameter.

Abstract:The equations of open 2-dimensional Toda lattice (TL) correspond to Leznov-Saveliev equations (LSE) interpreted as zero-curvature Yang-Mills equations on the variety of $O(3)$-orbits on the Minkowski space when the gauge algebra is the image of $\mathfrak{sl}(2)$ under a principal embedding into a simple finite-dimensional Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}(A)$ with Cartan matrix $A$. The known integrable super versions of TL equations correspond to matrices $A$ of two different types. I interpret the super LSE of one type 1 as zero-curvature equations for the \textit{reduced} connection on the non-integrable distribution on the supervariety of $OSp(1|2)$-orbits on the $N=1$-extended Minkowski superspace; the Leznov-Saveliev method of solution is applicable only to $\mathfrak{g}(A)$ finite-dimensional and admitting a superprincipal embedding $\mathfrak{osp}(1|2)\to\mathfrak{g}(A)$. The simplest LSE1 is the super Liouville equation; it can be also interpreted in terms of the superstring action. Olshanetsky introduced LSE2 -- another type of equations of super TL. Olshanetsky's equations, as well as LSE1 with infinite-dimensional $\mathfrak{g}(A)$, can be solved by the Inverse Scattering Method. To interpret these equations remains an open problem, except for the super Liouville equation -- the only case where these two types of LSE coincide. I also review related less known and less popular mathematical constructions involved.

Abstract:Let F be a local field. In the case of F being the real field, Pierre Cartier constructed Heisenberg-Weil representations of a Heisenberg group in families using non-self-dual lattices. This result was later reformulated by Jae-Hyun Yang in another paper. We extend this family of representations to a representation of a Jacobi subgroup by incorporating a rational Metaplectic group. In the case of F being a non-archimedean local field of odd residual characteristic or a finite unramified extension of the field of 2-adic numbers, we obtain similar results for a Jacobi group by incorporating a Metaplectic group.

Abstract:This paper studies the differential lattice, defined to be a lattice L equipped with a map d:L→L\documentclass[12pt]{minimal}\usepackage{amsmath}\usepackage{wasysym}\usepackage{amsfonts}\usepackage{amssymb}\usepackage{amsbsy}\usepackage{mathrsfs}\usepackage{upgreek}\setlength{\oddsidemargin}{-69pt}\begin{document}$$d:L\rightarrow L$$\end{document} that satisfies a lattice analog of the Leibniz rule for a derivation. Isomorphic differential lattices are studied and classifications of differential lattices are obtained for some basic lattices. Several families of derivations on a lattice are explicitly constructed, giving realizations of the lattice as lattices of derivations. Derivations on a finite distributive lattice are shown to have a natural structure of lattice. Moreover, derivations on a complete infinitely distributive lattice form a complete lattice. For a general lattice, it is conjectured that its poset of derivations is a lattice that uniquely determines the given lattice.

On the field analogue of elliptic spin Calogero-Moser model: Lax pair and equations of motion

Abstract:The Lax pair for the field analogue of the classical spin elliptic Calogero-Moser is proposed. Namely, using the previously known Lax matrix we suggest an ansatz for the accompany matrix. The presented construction is valid when the matrix of spin variables ${\mathcal S}\in{\rm Mat}(N,\mathbb C)$ satisfies the condition ${\mathcal S}^2=c_0{\mathcal S}$ with some constant $c_0\in\mathbb C$. It is proved that the Lax pair satisfies the Zakharov-Shabat equation with unwanted term, thus providing equations of motion on the unreduced phase space. The unwanted term vanishes after additional reduction. In the special case ${\rm rank}(\mathcal S)=1$ we show that the reduction provides the Lax pair of the spinless field Calogero-Moser model obtained earlier by Akhmetshin, Krichever and Volvovski.

Abstract:Interaction-Round the Face (IRF) models are two-dimensional lattice models of statistical mechanics defined by an affine Lie algebra and admissibility conditions depending on a choice of representation of that affine Lie algebra. Integrable IRF models, i.e., the models the Boltzmann weights of which satisfy the quantum Yang-Baxter equation, are of particular interest. In this paper, we investigate trigonometric Boltzmann weights of integrable IRF models. By using an ansatz proposed by one of the authors in some previous works, the Boltzmann weights of the restricted IRF models based on the affine Lie algebras and are computed for fundamental and adjoint representations for some fixed levels . New solutions for the Boltzmann weights are obtained. We also study the vertex-IRF correspondence in the context of an unrestricted IRF model based on (for general ) and discuss how it can be used to find Boltzmann weights in terms of the quantum matrix when the adjoint representation defines the admissibility conditions.

Abstract:The purpose of this note is to specify for lattice homomorphisms Riesz type representation theorems obtained by Wright and Coquand for positive operators. We prove that every lattice homomorphism acting from a vector lattice of continuous functions on a Hausdorff compact topological space with values in a Dedekind complete or Dedekind -complete vector lattice admits an integral representation by a quasi-regular vector measure that is a -continuous Boolean homomorphism. We use an operator approach to obtain suitable vector measures to represent lattice homomorphisms.
