Abstract:This work focuses on two-dimensional (2D) quasi-periodically forced nonlinear Schrödinger equations. This means studying iut−Δu+μu+εϕ(t)(u+|u|2u)=0,μ≥0,x∈T2,t∈R with periodic boundary conditions, where ε is a small positive parameter, ϕ(t) is a real analytic quasi-periodic function in t with frequency vector ω=(ω1,ω2…,ωm). It is shown that, under suitable hypothesis on ϕ(t), there are many quasi-periodic solutions for the above equation via KAM theory.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with a one dimensional (1D) derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equation with periodic boundary conditions \begin{equation*} \mi u_t+u_{xx}+\mi |u|^2u_x=0, \ \ x\in \mathbb{T}:=\mathbb{R}/2\pi\mathbb{Z}. \end{equation*} We show that above equation admits a family of real analytic quasi-periodic solutions with two Diophantine frequencies. Abstract:This article is devoted to the study of a nonlinear Schrödinger equation with an x-periodic and t-quasi-periodic quintic nonlinear term. It is proved that the equation admits small-amplitude, linearly stable, real analytic, and quasi-periodic solutions for most values of frequency vector. By utilizing the measure estimation of infinitely many small divisors, we construct a real analytic, symplectic change of coordinates which can transform the Hamiltonian into some sixth order Birkhoff normal form. We show an infinite-dimensional KAM theorem for non-autonomous Schrödinger equations and apply the theorem to prove the existence of quasi-periodic solutions.

Abstract:In this paper we study the following nonlinear Schrodinger equation {-Delta u+a(x)u=f(x,u), u epsilon H-1(R-N), where a is periodic with respect to x and f(x,u) is superlinear in u. Suppose that 0 lies in a gap of the spectrum sigma(-Delta+a). Without periodic assumption on f, we prove the existence of ground state solution for the system. Moreover, we obtain some sufficient conditions for the nonexistence of ground state solution.

Abstract:By using the solutions of an auxiliary elliptic equation, a direct algebraic method is proposed to construct the exact solutions of nonlinear Schrodinger type equations. Abstract:With the aid of symbolic computation, the new generalized algebraic method is extended to the (1+2)-dimensional nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NLSE) with dual-power law nonlinearity for constructing a series of new exact solutions. Because of the dual-power law nonlinearity, the equation cannot be directly dealt with by the method and require some kinds of techniques. By means of two proper transformations, we reduce the NLSE to an ordinary differential equation that is easy to solve and find a rich variety of new exact solutions for the equation, which include soliton solutions, combined soliton solutions, triangular periodic solutions and rational function solutions. Numerical simulations are given for a solitary wave solution to illustrate the time evolution of the solitary creation. Finally, conditional stability of the solution in Lyapunov’s sense is discussed.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with a one-dimensional quasi-periodically forced nonlinear Schrodinger equation under Dirichlet boundary conditions. The existence of the quasi-periodic solutions for the equation is verified. By infinitely many symplectic transformations of coordinates, the Hamiltonian of the linear part of the equation can be reduced to an autonomous system. By utilizing the measure estimation of small divisors, there exists a symplectic change of coordinate transformation of the Hamiltonian of the equation into a nice Birkhoff normal form. By an abstract KAM (Kolmogorov-Arnold-Moser) theorem, the existence of a class of small-amplitude quasi-periodic solutions for the above equation is verified.

Abstract:We present doubly-periodic solutions of the infinitely extended nonlinear Schrodinger equation with an arbitrary number of higher-order terms and corresponding free real parameters. Solutions have one additional free variable parameter that allows to vary periods along the two axes. The presence of infinitely many free parameters provides many possibilities in applying the solutions to nonlinear wave evolution. Being general, this solution admits several particular cases which are also given in this work.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider a new class of derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equations with reversible nonlinearities of the form iu_t+u_xx+|u_x|^4u=0, (t, x)∈ℝ×𝕋. We obtain real analytic, linearly stable periodic solutions and quasi-periodic ones with two basic frequencies via infinite dimensional Kolmogorov–Arnold–Moser (KAM) theory for reversible systems. By investigating the gauge invariance and the compact form of vector fields, in our KAM iterative procedure, we remove the usual Diophantine restrictions on tangential frequencies and only use the Melnikov non-resonance conditions. In the proof, we also use Birkhoff normal form techniques due to the lack of external parameters in the equation above.
Existence, Uniqueness and Asymptotic Dynamics of Nonlinear Schrödinger Equations With Quasi-Periodic Initial Data: I. The Standard NLS

Abstract:This is the first part of a two-paper series studying nonlinear Schrödinger equations with quasi-periodic initial data. In this paper, we consider the standard nonlinear Schrödinger equation. Under the assumption that the Fourier coefficients of the initial data obey a power-law upper bound, we establish local existence of a solution that retains quasi-periodicity in space with a slightly weaker Fourier decay. Moreover, the solution is shown to be unique within this class of quasi-periodic functions. In addition, for the nonlinear Schrödinger equation with small nonlinearity, within the time scale, as the small parameter of nonlinearity tends to zero, we prove that the nonlinear solution converges asymptotically to the linear solution with respect to both the sup-norm $\|\cdot\|_{L_x^\infty(\mathbb R)}$ and the Sobolev-norm $\|\cdot\|_{H^s_x(\mathbb R)}$. The proof proceeds via a consideration of an associated infinite system of coupled ordinary differential equations for the Fourier coefficients and a combinatorial analysis of the resulting tree expansion of the coefficients. For this purpose, we introduce a Feynman diagram for the Picard iteration and $\ast^{[\cdot]}$ to denote the complex conjugate label.
