Abstract:Using the degree theorem and the nonlinear alternative theorem, the authors turned the boundary value problems into equivalent operator equations and obtained the existence of solutions for the boundary value problems on the finite interval. Combining the property of nonlinear function f(t,y) with a diagonalization argument, the authors studied the singular boundary value problems on the semi-infinite interval. Besides, they provided the sufficient conditions which guarantee the existence of nonnegative solutions for this problem.

Abstract:The existence of positive solutions of p -Laplacian boundary value problems is studied on the semi-infinite interval. After studying the existence of positive solutions on the base of fixed point theorem of p -Laplacian operator boundary value problems on the finite interval, the interval can be extended applying the Arzela-Ascoli theorem from the finite to the semi-infinite interval. So the conclusion is found about the existence of positive solutions of p -Laplacian boundary value problems on the semi-infinite interval.

Abstract:This paper deals with a class of singular boundary value problems of differential equations on infinite time scale. An existence theorem of positive solutions is established by using the Schauder fixed point theorem and perturbation and operator approximation method, which resolves the singularity successfully and differs from those of some papers. Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the existence of positive solutions for singular elliptic equations with mixed Dirichlet-Neumann boundary conditions involving Sobolev-Hardy critical exponents and Hardy terms by using the concentration compactness principle, the strong maximum principle and the Mountain Pass lemma. We also prove, under complementary conditions, that there is no nontrivial solution if the domain is star-shaped with respect to the origin.

Abstract:We study a class of boundary value problems with $\varphi$-Laplacian (e.g., the prescribed mean curvature equation, in which $\varphi(s)=\frac{s}{\sqrt{1+s^2}}$) \begin{center} $-\left(\varphi(u')\right)'=\lambda f(u)\; \text{ on }(-L, L),\quad u(-L)=u(L)=0,$ \end{center} where $\lambda$ and $L$ are positive parameters. For convex $f$ with $f(0)=0$, we establish various results on the exact number of positive solutions as well as global bifurcation diagrams. Some new bifurcation patterns are shown. This paper is a continuation of Pan and Xing [13], where the case $f(0)>0$ has been investigated.

Abstract:In this paper, we delve into a discrete nonlinear singular semipositone problem, characterized by a nonlinear boundary condition. The nonlinearity, given by f(u)−auα with α>0, exhibits a singularity at u=0 and tends towards −∞ as u approaches 0+. By constructing some suitable auxiliary problems, the difficulty that arises from the singularity and semipositone of nonlinearity and the lack of a maximum principle is overcome. Subsequently, employing the Krasnosel'skii fixed-point theorem, we determine the parameter range that ensures the existence of at least one positive solution and the emergence of at least two positive solutions. Furthermore, based on our existence results, one can obtain the symmetry of the solutions after adding some symmetric conditions on the given functions by using a standard argument.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the existence and multiplicity results of positive solutions for a boundary value problem of nonlinear fractional differential equations. The differential operator is taken in the Riemann-Liouville sense and the nonlinear term depends on the fractional derivative of an unknown function. We derive first the associated Green’s function and prove its properties. Consequently, the considered problem is deduced to an equivalent integral equation. Next, by means of the Leggett-Williams fixed point theory, we obtain the existence and multiplicity results of positive solutions.
