Study on Rapid Determination of Aloe, Emodin and Rhein in Rheum Officinale Baill by High Performance Liquid Chromatography

Abstract:A high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC) method for the determination of Aloe and Emodin and Rhein in Rheum officinale Baill was studied.The Aloe and Emodin and Rhein were extracted from samples with chloroform by heating circumfluence for two hour.Then the extract was vaporized.The Aloe and Emodin and Rhein were separated on a ZORBAX Stable Bound(4.6 mm×50 mm,1.8 μm) chromatographic column,with methanol and 0.1% phosphoric acid as mobile phase by a elution program(0.0 min,73% methanol;1 min 100% methanol),and monitored with the photodiode array detector.The recoveries of aloe,emodin and rhein are 99.4%～102%,and relative standard deviations are 1.5%～1.8%.This method was applied to the determination of aloe,emodin and rhein in rheum officinale baill with good results.
