Status of depression and anxiety and its influencing factors among high school students in minority nationality regions of Guangxi in 2015

Abstract:[Objective] To investigate the Status of depression and anxiety and its influencing factors among high school students in minority nationality regions of Guangxi,provide empirical support for preventing the depression and anxiety of high school students from minority areas.[Methods] By the convenient sampling method,900 subjects were administrated from 8 middle schools in Guangxi from March 2015 to May 2015.Questions of basic information,Self-Rating Depression Scale and Self-Rating Anxiety Scale were adopted.[Results] Totally 816 effective questionnaires were collected,with the effective rate of 90.67％.The score of depression and anxiety was respectively 1.95±0.38 and 1.82±0.43,and the detection rate of depression and anxiety was respectively 43.87％ and 30.88％,while the detection rate of students with both depression and anxiety symptoms was 24.14％.Variance analysis showed that there were significant differences in depression score among different groups in gender,grade,source region,boarding or not,one-child family or not and outgoing status of parents,while that there were significant differences in anxiety score among different groups in gender,nationality,grade,source region,boarding or not,one-child family or not and outgoing status of parents (P＜0.05).Correlation analysis showed that depression was significantly correlated with gender,grade,source region,boarding or not,one-child family or not and outgoing status of parents (P＜0.05),and anxiety was significantly correlated with gender,nationality,grade,source region,boarding or not,one-child family or not and outgoing status of parents (P＜0.05).Multiple regression analysis showed that gender and grade had statistically significant influence on depression of high school students,while gender,one-child family or not and outgoing status of parents had statistically significant influence on anxiety.[Conclusion] High school students in Guangxi have severe depression and anxiety,which is influenced by gender,grade,one-child family or not and outgoing status of parents.It is necessary to take various measures to relieve their depression and anxiety.
