Qiao Chengli's experiences in the treatment of nephritic syndrome with wenyang huazhuo therapy

Abstract:Professor Qiao Chenglin is the instructor of the Academic Experiences of National Veteran Experts of Traditional Chinese Medicine and won the title of the Famous Chinese Medicine Physician of Shaanxi Province. He has been engaged in the teaching, scientific research and clinical practice of internal medicine of integrative Chinese and Western medicine for over 40 years and has accumulated rich clinical experience in the diagnosis and treatment of chronic kidney diseases. In the paper, Professor Qiao Chenglin' s experience in the treatment of nephritic syndrome was summarized.Professor Qiao proposed an academic theory called "removing the obstruction with warming method for the water disorders". He believes that the disease is the yang deficiency in the root and the retention of turbidity in the symptom. The turbidity pathogens include cold turbidity, damp turbidity, water turbidity and stasis (blood) turbidity. In the treatment, both the root cause and the symptoms are considered. Based on the theory of"removing the obstruction with warming method for the water disorders", the"warming yang and resolving the turbidity"is the treating principle, and warming the kidney and strengthening the spleen is taken as the chief therapy, assisted by consolidating sperms and resolving the turbidity. Hence, the wenyang huazhuo formula was created. In the paper, components of this formula were analyzed in detail, indicating the unique characteristics on the diagnosis and treatment, as well as the extremely satisfactory clinical effects. In combination with the case analysis, Professor Qiao's experience was explained in the syndrome differentition and the herb composition and provides valuable references to the clinical treatment of chronic kidney diseases.
