A Serum Pharmacological Study on the Immunoregulatory Effects of Yu Ping Feng Pulvis in Mice

Abstract:The immunoregulatory effects of a Chinese herb medicine “Yu Ping Feng Pulvis” (YPFP) were studied in mice by determing the serum levels of the herb medicine. YPFP apozem was introduced into mice through gastric route,in a dosage of 48 g/kg of body weight,and the blood samples were taken after 15 min,30 min,1 h,1.5 h,2 h,2.5 h,3 h and 4 h of medication respectively to detect the NK cell activities,proliferation of lymphocytes as well as the production of IL-2. It was found that the drug-containing sera taken at 30 min to 2 h after ingestion of drug could evidently improve the proliferation of spleen lymphocytes,and those taken at 1 h showed the most effective effect. The drug-containing sera taken at 30 min to 2 h also enhance the production of IL-2,but only the sera taken at 1 h was found to be able to improve the NK cell activities. The results of this study indicate that YPEP in the tested sera shows the immuno-enhancing effect.
