Effect of Herbal Preparation Kaikoujian on Immune Function in Mice

Abstract:Objective:To investigate the effect of herbal preparation Kaikoujian on the phagocytic activity and production of antibodies in mice.Methods:36 male ICR mice were randomly divided into 4 groups.The animals were orally administered with Kaikoujian solution at a dose of 0,0.125,0.25 and 0.5 g once daily for 10 days.After that,bodyweight,splenic index,phagocytosis by macrophages and antibody production were measured.Results:Compared with the control,bodyweight of mice administered with the herbal solution was significantly increased,especially two groups of medium and low dose (P0.01).In 3 experimental groups,splenic indexes was increased (P0.05),phagocytic activity and clearance index of carbon was significantly higher than that of control (P0.05);antibody levels were also significantly increased (P0.01).Conclusion:Oral administration with Kaikoujian could enhance mice immunity via activating phagocytosis and increasing antibody levels.
