Abstract:Objective: To investigate the quality of life in patients with myofascial pain syndrome (MPS) and its influencing factors. Methods: Eighty patients with MPS treated in our hospital from January 2012 to December 2016 were selected as the observation group. The essential information of patients was investigated by general data questionnaires. Pain, quality of life, emotion and sleep state were evaluated with the Short-form McGill Pain Questionnaire (SF-MPQ-2), the Short-form Health Related Quality of Life Questionnaire (SF-12), the Beck De-pression Inventory (BDI), the Beck Anxiety Questionnaire (BAI) and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), and the results were compared with those of 80 normal healthy people (control group). Factors influencing the quality of life of patients with MPS were screened. Results: In the observation group, there were more than 3 pain sites and pain spots, the frequency of pain was 5.98±1.54 times per week, and the duration of pain was 12.35±15.25 hours per week. The total score of SF-MPQ, scores of visual analogue scale (VAS), BDI, BAI and PSQI in the observation group were higher than those in the control group (P < 0.05). The scores of different dimensions of SF-12 in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P < 0.05). SF-12 correlated negative-ly with the number of pain sites, the number of pain spots, the total score of SF-MPQ, VAS score, BDI score, BAI score and PSQI score in patients with MPS (P < 0.05). Multivariate stepwise regression analysis showed that pain sites, the number of pain spots, the total score of SF-MPQ, VAS score, BDI score and PSQI score were related factors influencing the quality of life of patients with MPS. Conclusion: The quality of life of patients with MPS is low, and the quality of life of patients with physical pain is the worst. The pain degree, depression and sleep quality are the factors influencing the quality of life.
